Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! I swear it feels like it was just outfit day like yesterday. But fear not, I have a fresh 'fit for you guys. Al was supposed to model this week, but I forgot to take photos of him, so Shiny is standing in for him this week. Here's what she had on:

Yes, we're still wearing green. But it's fresh clean green stuff!

Bridle: Pinnacle
Brow Band: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks
Don't let that beautiful blue sky fool you. It was ridiculously cold out there today. And the WIND! Sheesh. Spring, you could try a little bit harder.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Premier Equine
I haven't used these pads in awhile, but I still really like them. Part of me wishes they'd introduce some new colors, but also I'm broke, so I hope they don't do that soon. Premier Equine makes really nice things though. I love their blankets and am constantly hoping they'll expand the options they offer in green. I may or may not have emailed them requesting such a thing...

Boots: Anky

I know you've all seen these tons. They're definitely one of my favorites. They aren't available anymore so I hope they last!

That's what Shiny is wearing today and here's what I had on:
Why, yes, I was matching the saddle pad nearly exactly. Thanks for noticing!

Helmet: One K Avance CCS MIPS
I'm still wearing this helmet. I'll probably be wearing it until we move home at the end of April. But you never know! Maybe I'll try surprise us. Also, Eros wasn't modeling this week, but he wanted to be included. So here he is.

Sweater: PS of Sweden
I got this AGES ago and wear it all the time. It's a lovely sweater. I also have it in navy. I believe the base layer is from smartwool, but I'm not positive on brand for that one. The vest you see in the helmet photo is from Old Navy last year.

Belt: Tory Burch
I've had this one awhile too. I love the shade of green!

Breeches: Vestrum

I bought these specifically to wear for Halloween outfits, but I've actually worn them a lot more often than I expected to. I really like them. I also grabbed a ridiculously cheap pair of yellow ones that are the same model. If you're ever thinking about Vestrum breeches, these are the Syracuse model and they run big, I am generally a 28 in TS and somewhere in between a 42 and 44 in Equiline, but these are a 42 and are roomy.

Boots: Horka
Heh... so I just searched my emails to see when I bought these boots, and I've had them for NINE years. That's pretty impressive. I don't wear them all that regularly I guess, but I wear them a bunch and they're actually in pretty good shape for how old they are. They're meant to look distressed, so don't judge that appearance negatively! Not bad for $250 boots.

That's it for today! Any favorites? What's the longest you've ever had a pair of boots?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! It's pretty chilly today, but seasonally so. The misery comes in tomorrow. I'm still pretty well layered today though.

Am I wearing two sweaters? Yes. Yes I am. And also added both a vest and a coat for riding today. How many days till spring? Also, yes. This is how I look in the morning. Mornings aren't my favorite.

Helmet: Samshield
Yep, still wearing this. And you best believe that I will be putting the winter liner in for tomorrow's rides.

Sweaters: Asmar Equestrian
When I was on vacation a few weeks back it was very difficult to ignore all the after Christmas sales flooding my inbox. I may or may not have purchased a bunch of sweaters from Asmar. They aren't wool, but are still pretty warm. Cotton/cashmere blend... mostly cotton. I like that the sweaters come in matching colors so they layer really nicely. They're marked down to around $50 (some a little more, some a little less) and I think are a nice deal if you're in the market.

Belt: Tory Burch

It's shockingly tricky to match greens. But this belt is a pretty solid match today's sweaters. I like the Tory belts, they're similar to the Mane Janes (also similar to Hermes if you're fancy like that).

Breeches: Dover Wellesley

You guys all know by now that I'm a big fan of these breeches for the colder days. I think tomorrow I'll be busting out the corduroys, but these worked pretty well for today.

Boots: Celeris UK
Wore these again today, but yes, tomorrow I shall be busting out the furry boots. It is time.

Shiny is our model today, and her outfit... doesn't exactly match today. We can't be winners every week! Anyway, here's what she had on:

Bridle: Camelot RCS Gold
I should have used the spike browband bridle today. But I gotta tell you, it's nothing short of miraculous that I am on her in time for our 8:30 lesson. There was zero chance I would remember to grab the other bridle. And really... it kind of works with the rest of the mismatched outfit. (You'll see.)

Boots: Eskadron
I really like Eskadron brushing boots. These are such a pretty shade of green. I actually bought two pairs for everyone since they're limited edition. Figured this way I can keep a set in the trailer for schooling if and when we get to some away shows. Plus we'll have a back up for when inevitably these wear out.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Premier Equine
Quarter Sheet: Horze
Told you. We did not match very well today. I don't have the green quarter sheets at the barn this year. So we had to stick with navy for the back half. I think she was happy for the butt warmer. It was only 20 degrees in the indoor for our lesson. Ugh. Also, in case anyone is wondering, she wasn't quite herself this morning. I think she's a bit sore/stiff from her little stumble yesterday. So we opted to just do a flat lesson today and kept it light and easy for her. I'm sure she'll be feeling better in a day or two. Plus it's going to be a very light (if any) work weekend anyway due to the cold.

So that's it for today! I'm not sure yet what we're wearing next week, but I'm thinking it might be back to blues. Time will tell!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day! If you've been around awhile you know I'm not a big riding in tank tops kind of person. But when the feels like temps are in the triple digits, tank tops it is! So here is my tank top outfit:

I had to layer since the arm holes are big, so I'm not sure I achieved as much coolness as I could have since I wore two...

Helmet: Samshield
The Samshield helmet has the best ventilation of my collection so I chose that one for this warm day. Plus, you can never go wrong with a little holo...

Shirt: Brand unknown
This says "training to be a majestic unicorn". My bestie and I both have one, we wore them when we ran a fun relay race several years ago. We were team Magical Milers and our silly outfit included tutus and unicorn headbands. We had much fun, despite the running part.

Belt: Swanky Saddle
These unicorn buckles are on clearance at Swanky Saddle if you want one! I still think it's adorable, definitely one of my favorites!

Breeches: Ovation Aqua-X
The Aqua-X breeches are my favorite for hot days since they're very lightweight. Unfortunately, I think they've been discontinued. This pair is actually black, but I think I was already a dusty mess by the time I snapped this pic.

Boots: Celeris UK
I just love these boots. They're so fun and crazy.

So that's what I wore, and now it's the ponies' turn!

Ugh, you guys. I just noticed when I snapped these pics how obese my horses have gotten. I know what I feed them, which is hardly anything, but I just had to remind my helper that they can only have 1 flake each. He feels bad because it's hardly any food. I get it. But look at them! They both look like they're carrying twins. Easy keepers aren't really that easy.

Bridles: Joseph Sterling
Browbands: Dark Jewel Designs

I think I use these bridles the most of my collection. Probably because they match everything. But also because they are the nicest quality of my everyday tack. There's a real difference between this leather and that on the Camelot bridles that's for sure!

Saddles: Eros-Butet, Shiny- Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pads: Eros- Lettia, Shiny- unbranded
Eros half pad is by Ippico

Eros wore my fun unicorn version logo pad that I decorated with the Cricut. And Shiny's pad is the one I found on Ebay that is thinner than most of her pads. Trying to keep her cool!

Boots: Eros- Premier Equine, Shiny- Punk Ponies

Full disclosure here. I keep trying to get Shiny some plain black boots, but boot size charts for horses are never accurate. I've bought like 3 different brands and they're all too tall for her. I really should just stop being cheap and get the ones from PEI like Eros is wearing, but their shipping costs have gone up so much... Probably still would be cheaper than all the ones I've bought that didn't work out though...

And that's it for today! Semi tame, with the gray and black, but less tame with the helmet and boots. It's called balance! Any favorites?

What's Up Wednesday

It wasn't a particularly exciting week around here, but it wasn't a bad one either. I have been jumping Wednesdays and Saturdays for the last few weeks, and like that schedule. But it rained nonstop all weekend which was expected, so I moved the Saturday jumping day to Friday instead when it was a beautiful day. I rode Eros first.

Guys! Look! This brief moment in time, my hands are not in my lap.
Though my reins are still too long... I am who I am.

It had dropped 20 degrees in temp since our Wednesday jump ride, which might invite Eros to be a wild pony, but he was actually quite good. A wee bit more strong than I'd prefer maybe, but very rideable so I'll take it!

This one is only 2' (obviously) but he jumped it great!

2'3" oxer, we're almost modified adult ready...

I put a couple of the jumps up another hole to 2'3" so we're really going places! Lol... Baby steps my friends. I know it probably seems ridiculous to be excited about 2'3" when we used to jump around at 3'3", but it's been a long road. I want to make sure he stays rideable and, most importantly, sound. And I'm also just wanting both of us to feel confident. So here we are, celebrating 2'3"!

Here is a little clip:

I was also looking forward to jumping Shiny around Friday, but alas... my neighbor ruined it.

I have no idea what he actually did, but I think he was pruning the greenery along our shared tree line. It sounded like he shook a tree. I didn't end our ride there, but she was super distracted so I opted not to jump. I'm not on any sort of tight schedule, and when you're jumping alone, you have to think a little extra about safety. At least I do. She DID get to jump on Wednesday though! AND we jumped our first official 2'3" vertical. (It's possible we've done the height before at the other barn, but I'm not positive. This time, I'm positive.)

I was expecting her to feel a little challenged and give more effort, but she really just cantered over it. It's nice to know it's easy for her, even with her giant old lady human aboard. Maybe we'll jump around 2'6" yet! I think it's just about time to set up some grids for her. I'd like to see if I can get her to use herself a little more and get more round in the air. Might not happen... but it's worth working on. I may wait until trainer gets back since that's something that's easier with someone assisting from the ground.

Here's a clip of her too:

We were rained out all weekend. It did stop for a little while Saturday evening, and I ALMOST decided to ride. But the ring was pretty wet and it was 48 degrees and I was like... eh.... nope. Sunday it never stopped raining. So they wound up with two full days of vacation. Monday was still pretty chilly and they were both kind of awful. Understandable so I didn't argue. Just rode through it the best I could and called it a day. I let them each have a free lunge before riding yesterday and they were MUCH better. Shiny didn't even spook when the neighbor drove his lawn mower through the woods... (Seriously dude.)

Pammony pony had his move outdoors mildly delayed with the weather. But yesterday he spent his first night out in a paddock next to his new buddy so they could get to know each other. I think today they'll move to their shared field where they'll have a run in shed and plenty of grass to eat. I haven't heard from the barn, so I'm assuming the night went well. I'll go over and visit him later today after I ride.

In other news, the Custom Saddlery rep came out on Monday to check the fit for Shiny and replace my billets (yay!). Guys, she's also a Master Saddle Fitter, and has this fancy rig:

She mostly works in the dressage world, but is also very knowledgeable about jumping saddles. She marveled at Shiny's shape... lol. Who doesn't. But the best part? She said my saddle fits her quite well, and didn't want to adjust the fit at all. She did add just a bit of flock to one area (on both sides) where there just wasn't any left, but otherwise she only needed to change out the billets. She said the saddle is probably 15 years old but it's in great condition. She even said to call her if I ever want to sell it. I was so grateful she could swap the billets right there in my driveway and I don't have to ride Shiny bareback for the next month. Ha! I rode in it yesterday for the first time, and it felt great. Yay! I'm going to have her back if/when Pammon gets back to work. I'd like her to check his saddle too. I didn't have her look at Eros' saddle since he had such a good report from the body worker last time. The fitter agreed, if it's not broke, don't fix it!

That's about it from here. How was your week? Do anything fun? Avoid the rain?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! And once again, I've half dropped the ball. I'm so excited to have the kiddos home so I can be better about proper posts again. But anyway, I have half of my outfit and half of Shiny's.... so that's something. Sorta.

We'll start with Shiny. I forgot to snap a face pic so enjoy this recycled photo:

Bridle: Camelot RCS Gold
Browband: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks

She wears a full cheek now, so this photo isn't completely accurate... but it's close.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: FFS
Stirrups: MDC
I still need new billets on this saddle, but I switched to a different girth which fits better on them, so I'm making it work. I'm thinking about hunting down a local rep, so maybe they could flock it to fit her the best it can and then also help me out with the billets. Now that I have this saddle, I don't want to be without it for too long! (I imagine billets will take a bit of time. But I guess that's why I have the Brockamp pad.)

Boots: Premier Equine
I honestly think Shiny size boots are the absolute cutest things ever. Look at them!

Okay, my turn. Helmet and boot photos are recycled. The others are accurate!

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS
I went with the green one since neither were really a match to this outfit. They finally came out with rose gold pieces for this helmet though, so I should have a better match eventually!

Tee: BitKeepers
Lol! Get it? Oh Crop! Instead of crap? I think it's punny. Unfortunately, the shop I got it from is out of business so you can't have one if you also think it's punny.

Belt: Mane Jane
I chose a dark gray strap with the rose gold buckle for this outfit.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
I found these breeches on Poshmark of all places! The seller had these and one other pair in my size for sale, so I jumped on them. As much as I wish it wasn't so, I am the most comfortable in this brand. So anytime I can find a pre owned pair for a low price, I get pretty excited!

Socks: Dreamers & Schemers
This is another pair of spares. Those Dreamers and Schemers peeps are so creative! I think they're adorable.

Boots: Celeris UK
Next week we'll have different boots, PROMISE!!!

And that's it for today! Any favorite items?
