Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! I haven't used or worn much of my blue things in awhile because you know... bad memories. But I think it's well past time to put them back in the rotation. Plus I got something new that spurred me to bring out the blue stuff. Anyway. Al is our model today and here's what he's wearing:

He had many feelings about the neighbor's side this day so he's looking twisted right in this photo, but he's not in real life.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
I realized later I should have pulled out the blue brow band bridles. But I didn't have a ton of time and I know Al's doesn't have the right bit on it anyway. Next time we do blue, I'll pull them out.

Saddle: Butet
Baby Pad: Ogilvy
Half Pad: Ippico
He does look nice in blue.

Boots: Premier Equine
I put boots on Al because I was hoping to do some jumpies yesterday. Unfortunately, he was having another bad day. Two in a row, which has me a little frustrated. We'll see what today brings.

That's what Al wore yesterday, and here's what I had on:

All the blues! Silly to let all of these things just sit around.

Helmet: Samshield
After missing out on the navy closeout Samshield a bit ago, another one popped up recently for even less money! It doesn't have much time left on it based on manufacture date, but it is brand new and was an absolute steal, so I'll still get my money's worth. My blue One K has expired, so this is a good replacement even if just for a short time. Samshields fit my head a little better than the One Ks do.

Tee: Aubrion
I used to get a bunch of subscription boxes every month, back when I was employed full time instead of part time. But since then I've canceled the majority of them. I've kept Rita's Barkbox because she loves their toys and treats. And I've also kept Forelock and Fringe. They've introduced me to a ton of things I might not have tried otherwise, and they send the most delicious human treats too! So as long as I can afford to keep it, I shall. Anyway, the point of all rambling, is that this shirt was in this month's box. It's super breathable and has a cute little cutout detail in the back just below the neckline. Very cute!

Belt: Iago
Speaking of good deals... I snagged this belt from the LA Saddlery closing sale. I had seen it on their site for awhile but I'm cheap so never bought it. Once it was 70% off though? Whole different story! I think it's really cute, and was perfect for this outfit.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
This is the color Aqualina. I think I've worn them maybe once before? Time to put them in the regular rotation. I'm going to need my OG fabric Tailords to last the rest of my riding life, so I have to be sure to rotate through all of them. They'll last longer that way.

Boots: Celeris UK
I think this color is their Titanic blue. They were demo boots, so not custom for me, but about close as you can get. That's why I can't remember for sure on the color. I didn't pick it. I really like them though, they're simple but pretty. Hard to see here, but there is piping at the top that's silver. If I had designed them, there would also be piping around the toe cap. But I'm not mad about that missing.

That's it for today! What do you think of the return of the blues? Keep it up? Or we all look better in green?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day!!! My favorite day! This week the theme is Arizona Green Tea, because it's my favorite beverage and I've been building this outfit for a long while, so I'm glad it's finally come together! Shiny is our model this week and here we are standing with the cherry blossom jump to match the cherry blossoms on the Arizona can.

I know. I really need to make up with Pivo and stop using my fence as a cameraman because this is dark, blurry, and faraway. But hey, it's better than nothing!

Here's a better photo of Shiny's outfit:
We're working on standing up more square... It's a work in progress. But I will say since she's lost all that weight she doesn't have her hind legs camped under herself the way she used to. So that's a nice change!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: handmade by me

The nylon I bought was not the normal weight I usually get and I didn't realize it until it arrived. But I figured it would probably still work, and it does! But I will definitely pay better attention in the future.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Half Pad: Le Mieux
Baby Pad: Ogilvy, embellished by me

I hunted far and wide to find ribbon I could use for this pad, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Most cherry blossom ribbon had a white background which I try to avoid for horsey things cause you know, dirt. But then I went on Spoonflower and found this fabric which worked perfectly for my needs! And it's nearly exact to the Arizona Iced Tea graphic! Just the shade of mint is a little off. Close enough though!

Boots: Premier Equine, Embellished by Me
The fabric was also perfect for our interchangeable boots!

That's what Shiny was wearing this week, and here's what I had on:

Mmmm green tea! I love that stuff!

Helmet: Samshield
I mean now that the helmet has faded so much it really matches the flowers pretty well!

Tee: Arizona
I'm like a green tea superfan and not only do I have this tee shirt, but I also have matching sneakers from when Arizona did a collab with Adidas. I know. I'm weird. But these things bring me joy!

Belt: Handmade by me
Why yes, I did also use that fabric for my belt. I love the concept of this interchangeable belt, but I know there are some tweaks to make it better. I just haven't quite worked then out yet. It's in the test phase now anyway, so we'll see how this one holds up before creating a 2.0 version.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman

I grabbed these from Poshmark a bunch of years ago, and just love this color! I ruined them slightly when I splashed some pool shock on them... but it's okay since they're just for schooling anyway.

Half Chaps and Paddock Boots: HKM

I had contemplated wearing the mint green boots with this outfit since they really would match nicely, but I didn't feel like having to clean all my tack again after so I opted for these plain black chaps and boots instead. I think they worked well since Shiny's pad and boots are also black.

Thursday's Threads: Avocado edition

Outfit Day! I really wanted to use a ridiculous brow band this week so I decided to do the avocado outfit this week. I was originally planning to have Al model, but the neighbor two doors over was having tree work done so Al enjoyed a lunge session today rather than a ride and didn't wear his outfit. Fortunately, Shiny stepped up to model. She was the model the last time we did this outfit too... Guess I should have picked Eros instead. Oh well. Shiny is adorable in her avocados anyway. Here's what she had on:

Last year we did a bonnet too, but this year I didn't pull it out because it's been so hot. Jokes on me though, today never got above 68 degrees. It was cold!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Homemade by me
The avocado beads crack me up. I mean, look at them! Haha!

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
Interchangeable boots are probably my favorite thing I've ever come up.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Lettia
Half Pad: Le Mieux
Guys, I really want to get her a new saddle. Any idea what organs I can sell to get that moving along faster? Saddle aside, she looks so cute with a pink pad!

That's what Shiny wore today and here's what I had on:
Full disclosure, I had to add a jacket. It really can't go from a feels like of 110 to a feels like of 65 in less than 24 hours. It's not right!

Helmet: One K
I chose the brown helmet because I think it looks like the avocado pit. Heehee!

Tee shirt: Old Navy
I know. It's brave to wear white in the barn. But since I ended up wearing a jacket most of the day, it has survived for another wearing!

Belt: C4
I'm not sure if it's coincidental that C4 and Lettia both thought avocados look great with pink, but I'm glad they did because it really ties my outfit together with Shiny's.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
Guess what they call this color! Go ahead, guess... It's AVOCADO! I also wear them with neon outfits because they are useful for that purpose as well.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I actually had socks that matched the belt at one point, but they were the OG version of D&S socks and I didn't love that material. But I was pretty excited when this design came out! I love that his cape is the peel.

Boots: Celeris UK
Had to pick the pink boots today. The purple doesn't really tie in anywhere, but whatever, they're still fun and definitely work with the outfit.

That's it for today! Any favorite parts?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! I swear it feels like it was just outfit day like yesterday. But fear not, I have a fresh 'fit for you guys. Al was supposed to model this week, but I forgot to take photos of him, so Shiny is standing in for him this week. Here's what she had on:

Yes, we're still wearing green. But it's fresh clean green stuff!

Bridle: Pinnacle
Brow Band: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks
Don't let that beautiful blue sky fool you. It was ridiculously cold out there today. And the WIND! Sheesh. Spring, you could try a little bit harder.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Premier Equine
I haven't used these pads in awhile, but I still really like them. Part of me wishes they'd introduce some new colors, but also I'm broke, so I hope they don't do that soon. Premier Equine makes really nice things though. I love their blankets and am constantly hoping they'll expand the options they offer in green. I may or may not have emailed them requesting such a thing...

Boots: Anky

I know you've all seen these tons. They're definitely one of my favorites. They aren't available anymore so I hope they last!

That's what Shiny is wearing today and here's what I had on:
Why, yes, I was matching the saddle pad nearly exactly. Thanks for noticing!

Helmet: One K Avance CCS MIPS
I'm still wearing this helmet. I'll probably be wearing it until we move home at the end of April. But you never know! Maybe I'll try surprise us. Also, Eros wasn't modeling this week, but he wanted to be included. So here he is.

Sweater: PS of Sweden
I got this AGES ago and wear it all the time. It's a lovely sweater. I also have it in navy. I believe the base layer is from smartwool, but I'm not positive on brand for that one. The vest you see in the helmet photo is from Old Navy last year.

Belt: Tory Burch
I've had this one awhile too. I love the shade of green!

Breeches: Vestrum

I bought these specifically to wear for Halloween outfits, but I've actually worn them a lot more often than I expected to. I really like them. I also grabbed a ridiculously cheap pair of yellow ones that are the same model. If you're ever thinking about Vestrum breeches, these are the Syracuse model and they run big, I am generally a 28 in TS and somewhere in between a 42 and 44 in Equiline, but these are a 42 and are roomy.

Boots: Horka
Heh... so I just searched my emails to see when I bought these boots, and I've had them for NINE years. That's pretty impressive. I don't wear them all that regularly I guess, but I wear them a bunch and they're actually in pretty good shape for how old they are. They're meant to look distressed, so don't judge that appearance negatively! Not bad for $250 boots.

That's it for today! Any favorites? What's the longest you've ever had a pair of boots?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day! As promised, we are back to our regular schedule programming this week with a riding outfit. Shiny wanted to model this week, and who am I to deny her? So here's what she is wearing:

She is going to be SO sooty this summer! I thought she was muddy the first day back from vacation and was trying to curry the dirt out, until eventually I realized that was her summer color coming in. I can't wait to see when it's all in! She's going to be extra pretty.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
Shiny's bridle is the newest of my JS bridles, and I love the changes they've made to them. The other ones we have, the noseband is the traditional type, and goes through and over the crown piece. This newer model is a mono crown and I really like it a lot better.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Premier Equine
The Premier Equine pads aren't as affordable as they were years ago, but they're still a really nice product. We've had this brown one for a couple years now, and it's holding up beautifully.

Boots: Busse
These boots are pretty new. I really like them! They're actually mesh, the only fuzzy part is on the edges. They fit nicely which can be tricky for Shiny. 10/10 highly recommend.

So that's what Shiny is wearing this week, and here's what I had on:

Yeah, it's cold again. All the layers are back out. All of them.

Helmet: Samshield
See that thing on my chin? I mean, you can't miss it. I have had this happen a few times in the past, but never on my chin. (Twice on my forehead, once on an arm.) What is it you ask? No, I didn't fall or scrape my face on a horse neck. Nope. Nothing that exciting. What happened was first I got a sunburn, and then a bug bit my sunburned face. And now this is what I have. At least the swelling is down. Hopefully it goes away quickly without too much of a scar. It's only ever happened when I'm in Florida, so must be a reaction to a bug we don't have up here in New England. Either way. I hope this is the last time.

Top: TKEQ
Jacket: Columbia
I had some free time and went and wandered around Kohl's the other day while I was waiting for Ulta to open. (I needed moisturizer for my poor sunburned skin.) And I found this jacket in the clearance section. It was the only one there and just happened to be my size. I had to have it. Thinking I may someday get my logo put on the back.

Belt: Zazzle
I have a accumulated a bunch of these Zazzle belts. You can pring pretty much anything at all on them, so you can imagine the fun I've had designing them. They're reversible too, so you get two belts for the price of one!

Breeches: RJ Classics Gulf
I like the gulf breeches. I like the Harpers better, but these are fine too. The RJ fabric does tend to pill, but the fit is pretty decent, and they are comfortable. Plus they are frequently on sale which makes them significantly more attractive to me.

Half Chaps and Boots: HKM Killarney

I really was wanting a plain black pair of boots to wear until I can get some of my zippers replaced, but new boots really aren't in the budget. While I was searching for something affordable that was also nice, I stumbled across this set up. They're a knock off of the Tucci chaps and boots which means they are very affordable (especially if you order from R&R Country in the UK) but look like they're fancy and expensive. They broke in very quickly and are super comfy. I'm not sure how long they'll last, the chaps feel pretty thin. But for the price, hopefully I'll get my moneys worth from them. I like how they work. They don't have an elastic under the foot, but they have a little slit in the front that matches up with a snap tab on the front of the boots. So the tab goes through the chaps and it holds them in place. So far I'm a big fan! We'll see how long they survive. Some photos below of other angles.
That's not a blemish on the one boot. Just dirt. I didn't clean them.
Just keepin' it real over here.

That's it for today! Any favorites from today? I can't wait for more fun silly outfits when the horses get home! It's getting closer!
