I've been a little lazy lately you guys. I mean, not with the horses, I'm doing all the things with them of course. But I've been slacking on the house projects. Now that we're in the midst of a heat wave though, I'm trying to get back on track. Partly because then I get to be inside in the a/c and partly because I never did bring my summer clothes downstairs this year...
I have plenty of tee shirts that weren't packed up with the rest of the summer clothes, and I leave sunshirts around all year since they layer well. So I haven't had a real need. But now that life is starting to happen again, I realized I had no summertime non barn clothes in an easily accessible area. So that's what I started doing yesterday. Packing up the sweaters, and going through (purging!!!) the summer clothes. My attention span isn't that long and I had to work around a few other things yesterday, but I made a good dent at least. I filled two bags for donation already, so that feels good. I LOVE getting rid of excess stuff in my house. It's so cathartic. My goal is chip away at it this week, and hopefully be finished by next week. We'll see how it goes. I really want to get back on track with getting this house cleaned out and organized again. I mean, some day I may want to allow people inside again...
Do you guys lose motivation for boring adulting things? Or are you pretty good at seeing chores through on the regular?
I started cleaning out drawers 2 months ago? And pulled together breeches to try on at that point. Everything is sitting in bags or baskets waiting for me to do just that. And collecting dust. And now laundry is on top of the stuff I need to try on because I also needed the laundry basket... #fail
ReplyDeleteUgh, yes, I have a habit of starting and not finishing too. I'm determined this time though!
DeleteI have spurts. I cleaned out my clothes a few months ago...but the bag for donation is still hanging out in a back bedroom. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. That happens to me too. I currently have a pile of bags in the living room. Once I finish going through the summer stuff though, I'm having it all picked up asap!
DeleteI am not very good at keeping up with house stuff. To the point that I have someone who comes one evening a week to help me clean. She isn't able to come this week and we're going on a long weekend trip starting Thursday. I had a garage sale last weekend, so got no house work done and I was majorly stressing about the house being a mess. My husband ended up being off work today so he helped with a bunch of the house chores. Including folding about half of the 5 loads of laundry. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI really miss having someone come to clean. Once I get this place looking less like a hoarder's hovel, I may find someone again.
Deleteomg i love getting rid of stuff too -- it's so liberating haha, should def do more often....
ReplyDeleteRight?! It feels so good!
DeleteI think doing any kind of heavy-cleaning during a heatwave should be illegal.
ReplyDeleteI said what I said.
lol
AGREE! Who needs that stress on their body?!
DeleteI do a couple deep cleans a year (easy to do when you have a small space) and I'm pretty good at keeping up with some chores weekly, though it is hard to incorporate seasonal chores (like dusting fans in the summer - my allergies have been acting up because I didn't have it in my daily planner)
ReplyDeleteAgain I think having a smaller space probably helps it a lot lol
Yeah, agree! I was a little better about it when I lived in an apartment. My house isn't big, but it sure seems it when it's time to clean!
DeleteMy house is a train wreck right now. My fourth of July long weekend plan is to reign it in under control!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna need more than a weekend... Lol! Sounds like a good use of the long weekend to me though!
