Thursday's Threads

I should probably just accept that I will never get to wear cute shoes, or any of my fun outfits, ever again. Yep, you guessed it, snowing again today! Dear Winter,  you can end any day now. So without further ado... Here's today's outfit:

Sweater: Black by Sax Fifth Avenue
This is such a great sweater! My sister-in-law gave it to me for Chanukah this year. The lighter color is actually a metallic silver, it just didn't photograph very well. I love the length, and it surprisingly warm for having a somewhat open weave to it.

Pants: Justice
Know how to tell if you're not dressing your age? If you're shopping at the tween store, and you're almost 35, you're probably not dressing your age. Just sayin'. But I do it anyway. Well I shop them online cause I do have a tiny bit of pride. Anyway, these jeans are adorable! I can't get a photo to capture the color on these. They're iridescent! Or "holo" like the nail polish peeps would call it. So fun! I got them in a mint color too. I'm sure you'll see them soon!

Boots: Sugar
If you HAVE to wear snow boots, they should at least be a little silly. These moonboots are ridiculous. I've had them a couple years now, and I do kind of love them. You know, as much as you can love snow boots. They aren't great for deep snow, since they're not very tall. But we're only supposed to get an inch or two today so they should do just fine.

Jewelry:
Left:
I wanted to play up the "holo" on the pants, so I went with matching stretch bracelets that I made over the weekend. They look great with my trust watch!

Right:
My big and little Hermes inspired bracelets! Honestly I was going to wear my sparkly "Tory Burch" bangle and snakeskin "Gucci" but I realized I wore them last week and you'd be bored. So for you readers, I switched to these instead.

So that's about it from here. What are you wearing today? Do you get to wear cute shoes? If so, show me on the facebook page! www.facebook.com/amateuratlarge

I shall leave you with a photo of Ducky hating winter:
Someone please bring me in.

Thursday's Threads

I've been super lazy this week about planning ahead with my outfits. It's been more of a mad scramble out of bed and throw on whatever is clean kind of week. I did however manage to at least match. Here's today's outfit:

Sweater and jeans is always a safe way to go in the winter time! (Please excuse my mountains of shoes in the background.) Let's look closer:

Sweater: American Eagle by way of TJ Maxx

I'm such a sucker for cable knit... I like the big cowl neck on this one, and it's loose boxy fit. Perfect for all the holiday goodies I've been packing into my belly!I love the marled pink and gray; makes it more fun than just a regular solid color. There's a chance if they still have them after the holidays that I may need this in another color...

Pants: Hot Kiss
I'm confident you've seen these before. They're a light gray denim with a distressed look to them. But NO HOLES!  I don't really like the pre-ripped jeans. At least, not to wear to work. It's casual here, but I think that's probably taking it too far.
This color is perfect with the sweater as it makes the gray pop. Last time I wore this sweater with navy blue and it looked great, but I think it's better with the gray pants.

Boots: Sugar
These are a short boot, and truth is... They're from the kids department. I wear a size 6 which is the same as a children's 4. They are canvas with pink laces and pink elastic inserts on the sides. They go perfectly with the sweater! Perhaps too much gray on gray with the pants? I'm undecided there. But I think it works.

Arm candy:
Left is sporting my horse bracelet that you're going to get tired of soon. (Sorry, not sorry, I love this one!) Also a friendship bracelet, that I THINK might be Shashi, but honestly I'm not sure, and my trusty gold watch.
Righty has a friendship bracelet from Gypsies and Debutantes and a wrap bracelet from Zulilly.

Well that's it from here! What do you think? Too much pink? Too much gray? Just right? What are you wearing today?

Thursday's Threads

I'm starting to think it always rains on Thursdays. Another gloomy day here in New England, but seriously, it was gorgeous out recently! It's not always gloom and doom here I swear. Anyway, it's about 45 degrees and rainy today. So that means no suede allowed! Here's what I picked out of the closet today:

That actually wasn't the top I had been planning on... I have lost the most gorgeous silk wrap around sweater ever. I know it has to be somewhere. I'm just hoping I didn't lose it at the dry cleaners without realizing it... Ugh. I shall hunt for it this weekend. Let's look closer at today's outfit:

Top: Philosophy
I got this one at Loehmann's before they went out of business last year. (They are back though in an online only format!) I love the sequins that are knit into the sweater. They're just flashy enough to add some fun to an otherwise very simple sweater. Confession: This came with shoulder pads!! Seriously! But I removed them. Much better. (Really, of all the things to bring back from the 80's, shoulder pads are NOT it!)

Pants: Kate Spade
I found these in the clearance section at Marshalls for $29.00. They were the only pair there, and just happened to be my size. Of course they had to come home with me! I love the Robin's Egg blue color, and they fit amazingly well. Thank you Kate Spade for understanding women have behinds! How cute is the little silver spade on the pocket?

Belt: Designer Inspired from Ebay
I chose a simple black leather Hermes inspired belt for today. I love these belts, they look good with everything!

Shoes: Sugar
If you've been reading the blog for awhile, you won't be surprised that i have shoes to perfectly match my sweater... They are black fabric with tiny black sequins knit right in. When I saw these, I knew they'd be perfect for dressing down my sparkly sweater.

Arm Party time!

Left:
WHOA! See that?! I'm not wearing old faithful today. Since my pants have a silver accent, I figured I should match my jewel tones too. The watch today is my A-Line that I found on Rue La La a few years ago. I really love this watch. It feels so sturdy on. The other two bracelets are from Little Black Bag. They are a stretchy metal mesh with matching rhinestone beads.

Right:
I honestly am not 100% sure where the pretty blue bracelets are from... I think possibly H&M or Forever 21. Hard to say for sure. The rhinestone one was from the Little Black Bag going out of business sale. It has a gorgeous matching necklace too, but sadly after hunting all morning for my missing sweater, I didn't have time to look for that too.

So that's what I'm wearing today! Do you have a favorite from today's ensemble? What are you wearing?
