Truthful Tuesday

Today I must admit to being a bit of a garbage human this weekend. I had a four day weekend scheduled because in the before times I used to go Florida this weekend for the annual boat parade. Alas, here in the after times that's not a thing right now. But I have something like 120 hours of vacation left that I can't rollover so I kept the days off.

It wound up working to my advantage as Artie needed to see the vet just for some bloodwork and the tall kids also had a visit scheduled. Both happened Friday and it was nice to already be off work. So I figured Friday would be dedicated to all the fur kids but the other three days I planned to do so many things. Like wrap all the presents that have arrived. And clean the house. And maybe get back to cleaning out the house. (I made great strides during lockdown but then abandoned the project and it's a real issue now...)

So what did I actually get done? Not much of any of that. I did get some gifts packaged up to ship, but I'm still waiting on the holiday cards to arrive so they haven't shipped out yet. Did not clean the house. Did not clean anything out. BUT I did catch up on the laundry! Washing it anyway. Putting it away can't really be finished until I go through all my crap. I have every season of clothing in every part of my house. Clothes just everywhere. That's going to be a big project. Hopefully I will not be such a garbage human when I'm off between Xmas and New Years.

Honestly though, I don't feel that guilty about being a garbage human for a few days. The days are generally long between the horses and work, and it was kind of nice to just spend some time not feeling rushed and kind of just doing what I want to do. (Obviously that includes riding, I did get that accomplished all weekend!)

Do you guys ever just slack off completely? Just me? Can't be!

  1. I don't think that makes you a garbage human at all... I'm using up so much energy just EXISTING right now that occasionally I need a "garbage human" day or two just to sort of recover my equilibrium. You were just recharging 😁

  2. I 100% slack off a lot. Like a lot. LOL Like CDB says above, existing right now is hard, so sometimes you just need to chill and go ride the ponies and not do much else!

  3. You and I have very different definitions of 'garbage human'. It sounds to me that you had some much needed downtime. Enjoy it. No one is ever on their deathbed wishing they had cleaned more.

  4. Sometimes you just need a day to sit on the couch in your jammies and binge a show or watch movies or whatever -- apparently this is a need even in a pandemic, lol. It happens and definitely does not make you a garbage human!

  5. "Garbage human" is if you went out and stole from the homeless or kicked puppies or something. Spending a weekend doing nothing isn't a bad thing at all. Especially when you were supposed to be doing something fun. I think we've all done it!

  7. I hate when companies don't let hours roll over, we have roll over that is capped at a certain amount so its nice to accrue a decent bank for a longer vacation.

    1. Yeah, I think a cap would be something at least. I hate that they roll nothing over. Especially this year when we all work constantly, even when we do take time off. Least they could do is carry some of it over to next year.
