You guys, I've really been slacking in the house again. Now that all three horses get ridden, it's taking all my energy away from being productive at home. But you know what? I don't even mind. So worth it to be back in the saddle!
But since I'm not getting as much done re organizing and decorating the house, my online shopping has subsided at least. So that's a positive. Plus, I think I've purchased just about everything on the internet at this point...
Anyway, my real confession today is that I've been absolutely terrible about cleaning my house. I ran the vacuum around last night and cleaned the bathroom, but like... everything else is dusty and dirty. It's so bad. I just hate spending so much time cleaning. Ugh. How do you all motivate to get that stuff done? Clearly, I need some suggestions.
My goal for this weekend is to finish up organizing all my barn crap so the barn will be neat and ready for Eros and Shiny when they come home. Fingers crossed I get that done!
admittedly i'm .... not particularly disciplined in my domestic habits LOL.... but generally if i just try to go through and do "surfaces" that usually ends up making a nice visible difference. for real tho i'd rather be out riding 3 horses and not cleaning tbh!!
ReplyDeleteRight? That's my issue too. I'm like well... the dog hair is gone... good enough!
DeleteI have no advice to offer - my barn gets more of my time than the house! I do try and pick up stuff and sweep up pet hair daily though, which sort of seems to help? I dunno - maybe a non-pet person would come in here and be horrified? lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been okay at keeping stuff put away. It's just the actual dirt that's an issue at the moment... Lol!
DeleteI also spend far more time in my barn than cleaning my house lol. I've found that running the robot vacuum daily and then dedicating one hour Sunday morning to dusting/straightening up makes a big different without eating up too much of my time. But also we intentionally built a small living space because I would rather not heat/cool/decorate/clean that much space LOL.
ReplyDeleteI should do that 1 hour dedication... we'll see if I can do it!
DeleteI pay someone, and would cheerfully give up a good many luxuries before I gave that up!
ReplyDeleteI was too, pre covid. But I'm not ready to have someone else in my house. And I need to find a new person. So for now, I gotta do it!
DeleteI've learned that I have to make myself just do it and get it over with. I get up on a Saturday morning and after breakfast/coffee, I run the vacuum, wipe down the bathroom counters and clean the toilets, and make sure the kitchen is clean. I do things like mopping and scrubbing the bathtubs...um, less often haha! I don't like to clean, but I also like a clean house, so I kinda aim for the middle!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat! If only homes could be self cleaning.
DeleteI get anxiety when things get too messy so that usually motivates me. Also watching an episode of hoarders if I get depressed and that mutes my anxiety.
ReplyDeleteHoarders is just entertainment to me, but OMG if I need my husband to clean something, I just put that on. He like immediately gets up and starts cleaning, haha.
DeleteOh yeah, no, things are mostly put away. It's just the actual cleaning part I struggle with. Clutter makes me anxious too.
DeleteThis made me laugh: "Plus, I think I've purchased just about everything on the internet at this point.... "
ReplyDeleteI think you just threw out a challenge to the universe...
Honestly, I suck at housework. And when it's nice like this and there horses to ride, forget it! You won't be on your deathbed saying "I wished I had vacuumed more".
Hahaha! No more stuff!
DeleteI agree, life is too short to waste time cleaning!
