Truthful Tuesday

With the cooler weather and shorter days, plus the sore ribs, I've felt my motivation waning a bit to really work the horses. Which... isn't good because we're still working back to full time jobs for all of them. And I was really feeling kind of mad at myself about the whole thing. But honestly, it's not a bad thing to have a few short and easy rides now and then. My horses are fine. And my ribs are feeling a lot better finally, so hopefully this week will be more productive.

Do you struggle with motivation as the seasons change? Do you keep the same schedule with your horses all year long, or do you take easier weeks here and there?

  1. I struggle all the time with motivation, we can probably attribute at least part of it to the seasons... haha. Like not having an indoor makes winter so hit and miss -- I might be motivated, but the footing is crap. Or I'm tired but the footing is great and then I feel guilty if I don't ride. So my horses get lots of easy weeks lol.

    1. Oh yeah, when I keep them home for the winter, I don't even feel motivated enough to brush them everyday! I feel that!
The guilt is real though, isn't it? I honestly don't think the horses care that much as long we love on them a little though.

  2. I struggle sometimes. I just take time off. To be honest, not having any shows to prepare for takes the pressure off.

    1. This is true! Though sometimes I think it's just helped me be more lazy.

  3. I don't know if it's the change in season or that work is ramping up and my hours are all over the place, but I have had no desire to ride the last couple of weeks. Knowing that in about 3 weeks I won't ride for about 2 months probably isn't helping either.

    1. I used to really feel that way too, knowing the ground would be frozen. It's like what are you working toward? But mine are boarding again this winter, so I don't have that excuse this year!
