Phew. Guys. It's still nuts at work. There have been a lot of cookies consumed. Especially with girl scout cookies arriving... But still here, still got my head above water! Just barely.
I don't have too much to confess today, other than that I'm super behind on reading everyone's blogs. Hoping to catch up soon!
Are any of you seeing extra work stress thanks to Covid-19? What's your level of panic? I'm not super worried about it, for me anyway. Maybe for my parents since they're older. Definitely not Ebola level of panic. From what I can gather, it's basically a cold/flu unless you're immune compromised. So, while I really hope not to catch it, I think most of us will get through this. I just hope the work stress doesn't kill me!
Sorry to hear things are still crazy! I am a legal secretary in a county prosecutor's office, so the only was Covid-19 would affect my job is if someone came into our building with it or someone here got it and we had to close. I am with you though, I'm not necessarily concerned for myself, but I am concerned for Hunter. Even though there hasn't been a whole lot of pediatric cases reported (at least not that I saw last week).
ReplyDeleteIt's getting crazy everywhere now! They say kids seem to handle it well, so that's something at least.
Deleteit is insane the amount of effect/affect this is causing to workloads in different ways. Our only problem will be if people decide to not come to our conference (next october). we would be sunk.....ugh....sorry things are crazy. But yum girl scout cookies.. bought a box of Trefoils the other day. NOT OPENED YET because once they are....bye bye cookies HA!
ReplyDeleteI have one row of thin mints left. It's gonna be a long road.
DeleteMy job is started to get pretty affected as well -- we do a lot of international travel and have had a number of cancellations already. Our busiest time of year is the fall, so I'm HOPING things settle down by then (crossing all crossables)
ReplyDeleteI really hope most of this is behind us by fall. It's getting really scary.
DeleteWe had a PhD researcher ask us how we're planning on preventing the research mice from getting Covid-19. He was upset when we told him we don't have a plan, and that there's no indication it can spread from humans to animals. He wants his mice to get preventive medicine, even though that's not a thing.
ReplyDeleteThere's some talk of what happens if the university has to shut down, but since I work with animals I would still have to come in, unless I get sick.
LOL
DeleteClearly a PhD candidate and not an MD! Lol. I hope since you have to go in, you can limit contact with others at least.
DeleteThere is supposedly a campus plan for COVID-19 and other illnesses (flu, norovirus, etc.) and they do yearly emergency drills and have one coming up this week? Anyway, Student Health seems to be on top of things. What it means for the rest of us? No idea.
ReplyDeleteHaving said all of that, I'm trying not to go to my annual conference on the west coast just because I am in a high risk group due to asthma and I can't currently go a week without an asthma attack (a few lately that have almost had me going to the ER, but... more germs). So with bad lungs right now, flying probably isn't a good thing. I say that while breathing is currently a struggle today. I wouldn't be worried if not for my respiratory issues.
Yeah, my asthma is mild fortunately, but it's spring time which is the worst time for it. Awkward timing! I imagine your trip will be canceled if it isn't already. Sounds like CA is locking down.
DeleteSome of my staff travel and work in people's homes/daycares etc. We have a plan but really no cases have shown up here so it's basically the same as always: wash your hands, carry hand sanitizer, clean toys if you bring them into the home.
ReplyDeleteI hope your area stays unaffected! It's making it's way into my state which is just getting too close for comfort!
