Thursday's Threads: In Memory of Karl Lagerfeld

Most of you are probably like who the hell is Karl Lagerfeld? And that's understandable. KL was an icon in the fashion world having acted as creative director for both Chanel and Fendi. He's collaborated with numerous other high fashion brands as well. He never actually retired, having continued designing basically right up until his death on Tuesday. He was also a weirdly devoted cat owner to a kitty named Choupette. The cat has his own staff who will be taking care of him, which won't be difficult for them given the cat was willed something like 2 million dollars. Yeah Karl was a weird dude. He was also kind of a dick. I've had this Karl Lagerfeld outfit in the works for awhile, but kind of put it on the back burner after he said some stupid stuff when the Me Too movement was happening. But now that he's passed, I figured it was time.
Now a classy individual would probably dress head to toe in Fendi or Chanel to remember Karl. But I'm not that classy. Nor do I own a single thing from either brand. At least nothing that's authentic... (I do have a knock off Fendi belt! Don't tell Karl.) Without further ado, here is my homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld:

Karl always wore black and white, so I did too for him today. Are you surprised I just plastered his face all over me? Yeah, I didn't think you would be. I actually have Karl face pants too, but they were a bit.... well, I couldn't get them on. Will have to save them for the summer when I drop this winter fluffiness. (Hopefully.) I have a few other KL items anyway, so there will be a second homage to Karl at some point.

Cardigan: Express

Yep, Karl's own brand produced that shirt with his likeness all over it. So modest.

Belt: Mane Jane
Buckle: Karl Lagerfeld

Lolz. There he is again. I like that the buckle works with my Mane Jane belts so he can go with anything!

Jeans: True Religion

When my Karl face pants weren't fitting, I decided these black jeans with the heavy white stitching were probably an even better match for the theme. So all worked out fine.

Shoes: Vans

Nope that's not your typical houndstooth. That's karl's profile tiled all over these shoes! This whole outfit just cracks me up. Sorry, not sorry. Feel free to laugh along with me.

Wristlet: Unbranded

I stumbled across this wristlet years ago on Ebay from a sketchy Chinese seller. So it's not branded, but it's hilarious. Obviously, I needed to own it. That's Karl's face complete with his trademark aviators and pony tail.

Arm Party!
Lefty:

I don't own any Karl faced jewerly, nor anything from his brands, so I just went with this bit bracelet since the colors follow the rest of the outfit.

Righty:

I figured I should wear my fanciest bracelet stack since that's the closest thing I have to a high fashion arm party. Plus they're my current favorites.

Rest in Peace Karl. Please stop torturing models in the afterlife.

Ok... now that's we're done with Karl, I have a riding outfit to share too!

Winter clothes are just so flattering aren't they? Whatever, warm and comfy is all I care about.

Baseball hat:  Horseware

Ok, obviously, I didn't ride in a baseball hat (protect your noggins, YO!), but I just got this in my subscription box I get from Stateline and it's my new favorite thing. It has a light in it! AND it came with extra batteries. That's probably the best part. (If you're looking for an equestrian subscription box to try and you're not into the pricey ones like Noelle Floyd or Cavalli Club, check out Stateline's Heart to Horse box. It's usually pretty great, though now and then I get a dud, and it's around $34.) And if you're wondering, I rode in the black One K again.

Sweatshirt: Circuit Style

This isn't the warmest of sweatshirts, but it's super comfy. I layered it with a vest and puffy coat so it was just fine. I love the "Weird Horse Girl" nameplate on the front. I wish they had one that said Crazy Horse Lady. That's my about me on Facebook.

Belt: C4

I declared on Instagram awhile back that I would wear my F-bomb belt whenever the weather was crap this winter. And it was snowing and icing last night when I went to the barn, so here it is again!

Breeches: Horseware

I think the corduroy breeches are warmer than the fleece lined ones I have, so I've been wearing them the most this winter. They are marked down to around $45 dollars, so I had gotten two more pair a little bit ago. Wish they came in more colors, (they come in brown and tan only) but at least they fit with my barn color scheme!

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers

My Fbomb socks were the old style, but Dreamers and Schemers has them back on the site in the new sock style so I grabbed a new pair. Best time to wear them is with the belt, right?


Boots: Regals

Sorry guys, I know you want to see the fun boots. But none of my fun boots are traipsing through ice and snow. Not happening.

Heart to Horse Box: November

It's been a little while since I've done a Heart to Horse Box review, but I have to tell you, they're getting better each month! Heart to Horse Box is a horsey subscription that you can order either as a one time box or as a monthly delivery. I opted for the sub since I like presents. You save a little each month that way too. This sub is unique in that it includes something for the horse AND something for the rider each month. My favorite part is that 25% of sales is donated to a local charity. This month's charity recipient is Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue. They seem to be a favorite as they've been the recipient the last few months.

I was a little worried when I opened the box this month because of those oil spots... I was quite worried something might have spilled all over. But thankfully that was not the case. What it actually was completely surprised me!

This:

Yep! That's a real leather lead rope with a nice long chain from Weaver Leather. Seriously this is worth what I paid for the box all on its own. Color me impressed.

 Heart to Horse Box also included a tasty treat for the rider this month. Mmmm chocolates. One could give this is as a gift or bring to a party for the hostess. But I'm just going to stuff them all in my face. 

 This blingy brush is really cute. I may stick this one in the trailer. It's too fancy for at home!

 I was super excited to find these adorable cookie cutters in the box. I'm such a fan of this month's for the rider theme... all snacks all the time! But seriously, these are just in time for holiday cookie making. Horse cookies are festive right?

 Heart to Horse Box usually includes a little extra each month, and this time it was this lip balm. Perfect now that the weather has turned. My lips will be chapped from now until April so this is definitely useful!

On the information card is a photo of Karma who was rescued by Gentle Giant Draft Rescue. I really appreciate that they give us a face that we're helping each month with our purchase! 
This was another great month from Heart to Horse Box. I will use all of the items. I missed reviewing a few boxes, but in one of them was a rope halter with attached lead. This is perfect for working with Romey on the ground. It's like Heart to Horse Box knows exactly what I need sometimes... It's almost creepy! I'm just really impressed with the variety and the quality of what is included each month. I will keep subscribing to this one for awhile!

This month's box was pretty heavy and I really couldn't wait to see what was inside!

As always, there is an info card detailing the contents of the box. They threw in a few little extras this month that weren't on the card as well. Thanks Heart to Horse Box! I love surprises :)

Extras:

 This little luggage tag is adorable. It's perfect for me too since my luggage is purple! (Purple is a lot easier to see on the baggage carousel than black. Truth!)

Also as a bonus was a sample of Absorbine Botanicals liniment. I've gotten this same sample from my local tack store before, and it's a nice product.

So before I show you the rest of the items this month, I have to pause and exclaim that this was EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED this month! It's like they were following along on my blog with all of Rio's foot woes. Seriously. You'll see.

SyrVet Bandages: $1.43 each

Not one, but TWO rolls of self adhesive bandages. I've been going through about a roll a day for Rio's foot, so this is SO needed!

Hoof Brush: $2.51

I'm not desperate for a hoof brush, but I don't have one, so it's a nice addition to my grooming box. The horses may appreciate my using this rather than their regular body brush on their feet.

Bigeloil Poultice Hoof Pads: $6.29

I definitely could have used these a month ago! They are hoof pads with poultice in them so you don't make a huge mess getting clay all over everything. I'm excited to have these in the medicine box! Hopefully I won't need them for a long, long time.

Animalintex: $7.19

Animalintex is much like that hoof pad above, but it comes in sheets to be used on legs. I actually had been using this cut up into smaller pieces for Rio's foot last month. I used all of mine up, so I'm happy I don't have to go out to replace it now! Thankfully we're done with the poultice stage for Rio.

Tough 1 Cooling Ice Boot: $31.49

The "big" item! This thing is awesome! I mean, I wish it wasn't red, since red isn't our color. But other than that, this is amazing. It's an ice boot! So basically each of those little squares is filled with a gel. You store this in the freezer so the little gel pockets get very cold. Then when you need to ice a leg, you just wrap this bad boy around and you're good to go! It's very flexible and has four straps to hold it in place even if your horse moves around. I've been using a human leg boot for my horses which works ok, but it tends to slide down and doesn't really get tight enough. This will be so much better. Though again, I'm hoping to not need it for a long, long time!

This month's box was probably the most useful I've received so far. It was low on presents for the human (just that little luggage tag really) but the items are amazing! They are exactly the items I've been using all month for Rio's sore foot. And that boot would have been handy last week for Jamp's cellulitis.

The box had a retail value of $50.34 (not including the extras). The ice boot alone was worth the cost of the entire box! This was definitely a great deal. I don't think there's a single thing in this box that I won't use, and that's kind of rare when you get a box of surprises in the mail. Definitely a win this month!

Finish Line Apple a Day Electrolytes

This is a nice trial size container! Electrolytes are so important this time of year. My horses already have them built into their meal routine, but if we have another heat wave, I will use this for an extra dose in the morning.

Tough 1 Massage Curry

This has Rio written all over it! We're going to try it out later tonight. I know he'll love it. And with his sore foot, he could certainly use a good massage.

Celebration Spot On bug repellent

This is the only item I am not planning to try. While I do appreciate a good bug repellent that may actually work, the warning on the back made me think this isn't the one for us:

Harmful if absorbed through the skin? Won't that happen when you PUT IT ON THEIR SKIN? It's probably perfectly fine, but between Jamp's allergies and colic episode and Rio's foot problems, I'm going to steer clear of anything potentially harmful. Luck is not on our side this summer!

For the Barn:
Tough 1 Collapsible Bucket

Love this! It's totally going to live in the trailer. I love the idea of a collapsible bucket. It's made of a heavy canvas material. So useful!

For the rider:
Bling Horse Hat

I have a pea sized head and hats never fit me. This one isn't too huge though! And it's ADORABLE!

I didn't do a cost breakdown this month because I'm at work and just got super busy.... Bad Blogger! But without actually running the numbers, I'm still confident I got my moneys worth from this box. The only item this month I won't use is the bug repellent, but the whole point of getting a box like this is to be introduced to new things. So I don't mind if sometimes I don't like everything inside.
