Thursday's Threads

Outfit day already! We're still rocking the navy over here, but we'll be switching it up soon since there IS a holiday coming up. In the meantime, let's look at what we're wearing here this week. I'll go first.

I'm trying to invite spring to show up by adding some pastels... so far it's not working. Snow is in the forecast TWICE within the next week. Gross.

Helmet and boots are still the Samshield and black Celeris samples. So we're still skipping over them.

Sweater: Ralph Lauren
Shirt: Amazon
Guys, I've been going through my closets and found this sweater (from TJ Maxx) with tags still on it. I don't even remember when I got it, but until a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't been to a TJ Maxx since before lockdown. That's a long time to not wear a pretty sweater. How embarrassing. Also, that top I'm wearing underneath is from Amazon. It is an exact replica of the ones from TKEQ. But the Amazon version is $25 and the TKEQ range from $78-80. The teens at the barns have the expensive ones, and we've compared them carefully. Exactly the same.

Belt: Mane Jane
I haven't worn this side of this belt in awhile, so figured now was a great time to bust it back out!

Breeches: Equiline
Way back at holiday time I placed an order for a few things from Old Mill Saddlery. One of my items was on back order, so I just recently received my stuff from them. And these breeches were in that shipment. I'm not one to spend $400 on pants, but I am always curious to try new things. And all the cool kids are wearing Equiline these days. This pair was on closeout for just around $100 which for nice breeches isn't unreasonable to me. So I gave them a shot. But I will tell you, I have a few other pairs of bargain Equilines and I think this pair is sized incorrectly. I wear a size 28 in TS breeches, though I can stuff myself into a 26 if it's worth it. (Ahem, my saddle color pair, coughcough). In normal Equiline that makes me smack in the middle between and I-42 and I-44. I have both sizes and I'd say the I-42 are closer to a 26 TS and the I-44 is like a very roomy 28, but not quite a 30. Anyway, for some reason, the website I bought these from had them sized in inches like TS are, so I chose size 28. When they arrived, the tag says I-46. I didn't think they would fit, but tried them on anyway. The waist is a hair big, but the rest of them fits great. I'm thinking maybe they were super cheap because the sizing is off on them? But I have no idea. Long story not so short, I like them, and am glad I don't have to return or sell them and also Equiline sizing is a little weird.

Our equine model this week is Eros. He was getting seen by the vet for outfit day photos, so he's not wearing any boots this week. But he is wearing his demo saddle that is now officially his! So that's fun!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: Dark Jewel Designs
Someone had zero interest in photos... this was the best of a million attempts. Peep that pretty dee bit though!

Saddle: Butet
Baby pad: Ogilvy
Half Pad: Mattes
This photo looks awkward, I had the saddle pad set back a little too far. I promise everything fits normally! It's interesting to me how different the color is on this saddle versus Al's when they are both supposed to be the same. Al's came pre oiled though, and I'm guessing this one wasn't. I've been conditioning it regularly, but just gave it a coat of oil last weekend. It did darken some after that, so we shall see if it ends up the same color as Al's eventually. Though even if not, this color looks lovely on Eros anyway.

That's it for this week! Any favorites?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day!!! I didn't get too crazy this week and went with our barn colors again. I didn't get TOO logo crazy, but there definitely are a few today. I can't help it. It's just who I am. I'll start with the ponies!

Here they both are literally cantering over this purple jump. Guess I've bored them already.

Bridles: Both are wearing Camelot RCS Gold
Browbands: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks
Bits: Sweet Billy's

Shiny also seems to really like the leather bits. Which is only annoying because I just have the one in her size, so I'll have to switch it between bridles. Maybe next month I'll grab a second one for her.

Saddles:
Shiny- Custom Saddlery
Eros- Butet
Pads:
Shiny- Mattes
Eros- The Hangry Mare with a Mattes half pad

I love both of these pads. But maybe the Hangry Mare ones a little extra because the quilting pattern is extra fun. Plus I like the idea of supporting a small, woman owned, USA based business. But I'm not abandoning Mattes either because they are very good at what they do.

Boots:
Shiny- Punk Ponies
Eros- Equestroom

So a couple of weeks ago I got REALLY EXCITED because Equestroom had one pair of green glitter boots on their site in PONY size! I've been stalking regularly waiting for them to come in so Shiny could have a pair too. Well... they arrived.

And they're not much smaller than the full. I'd call them cob sized, not pony. So definitely disappointed. No chance they'll fit Shiny. Boo. So she's still wearing her old standby Punk Ponies boots.

And here's what I wore yesterday:
I had to show the back view, because this is the shirt that I messed up the placement on the front logo... Lol. Still wearing it though!

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS
I'm not sure if I'm imagining it, but I think the harness might be more comfortable on this helmet than the wide brim. I don't wear this one as much in the summer since I appreciate the wide brim on sunny days, but it was cloudy yesterday so I picked it.

Shirt: Stacie Original

This is just a cheapo Amazon tee I purchased at the height of the pandemic when I was making all kinds of stuff to stay busy. I like how the back of this one came out. But as I mentioned above, I put a small logo on the left side chest in the wrong spot. It's just a little too far off to the side so its awkward. Good lesson for future shirts though!

Belt: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks

Yes! It matches the browbands! Of course! Haha! I like how the logo is so subtle on this one. You only know it's there if you look for it.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman

You've seen these a few times. These are one of the pairs I found on Poshmark.

Boots: La Mundial aka LM Boots

I don't wear these that much for a few reasons. The biggest being spite. I had such a bad experience with this company that it makes me resentful of these boots. The other reason is that they are now a little bit too big. My Celeris boots are also a little big, but since they use thicker leather I don't notice as much. These actually get a little wrinkly and I can feel that they're loose when I ride. I will begrudgingly admit though, that they are beautiful boots and the leather is very soft.

And that's it for today! Any favorites? Do you have a theme you want me to wear in a future post?

Thursday's Threads

You Northern New Englanders may not like today's outfit... BUT I DO! Go Yankees! (Though they do kind of suck this year...) For the horses' outfit, I'm not revealing who made the pads and boots for me because, well... we aren't officially licensed ya know? So mums the word on that. You can probably figure it out based on other things I've had done in the past.  Normally I try to play by the rules with stuff like that, but the Yankees don't make horse stuff for me to buy so I had to do what I had to do... Alright, let's see what we all wore!

Now that I know Shiny has a good fitting saddle, I could probably try using some regular pads on her. But I have all these built in half pad ones for her, so I probably won't.

Bridles: Joseph Sterling
Browbands: ME! I made those!
Okay, so the browbands are definitely "schooling quality", but I was pretty happy with them for occasional use. Here they are not on a bridle:

I just got leather strap the same width of this ribbon I found. Glued on the ribbon with flexible fabric glue, trimmed the ends, and used Chicago screw rivets with balls on the end for easy removal.  I did have snaps which I could have used, but these look nicer and are just as easy to use. I used the same bridles that my spike browbands are usually on. And well... now that I know how easy these are to do, maybe I'll make some others in the future. I think they came out cute!

Saddles: Shiny-Custom Saddlery, Eros-Butet
Saddle Pads: Shiny-Mattes, Eros I'm not telling and the half pad is Ippico

Cute right? I found baseball images/logos online and made a little pattern that I had printed on Eros' pad and the boots you'll see shortly. I have a few other designs on my list to get made. I have to spread them out as the budget allows. But I have a few I'm really excited to get done!

Boots:
I really wish I could make this stuff myself. But how fun are these boots?!

And here's what I wore:
I didn't really how washed out this photo was when I took it, sorry! But you can get the idea.

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS Wide Brim
So this is actually the navy with rose gold helmet, but I replaced the rose gold rail and navy front shield with this lighter blue color. I really bought it for the other barn, but for now it's home with me.

Tee: MLB Shop
This tee was from Derek Jeter's final season before retiring. The last of the Core Four. I got to meet him briefly when we were vacationing in the same place many years ago!

Belt: Vineyard Vines
Prior to Vineyard Vines making this perfect Yankees belt, I was wearing one with an enormous western style buckle when I went to games. I like this one much better.

Breeches: Halter Ego
Admittedly, I bought these in the wrong size and they're a little big, though a trip through the dryer has helped a little. If you get a pair, size down! These are my normal size, but they run big. I love the marble look to them, and the bright blue accents are super fun.

Boots: De Niro Salentino
These are the pair I found on sale at Equiport in stock and in my size! Fate boots. I'm a big fan of them. The only reason I don't wear them more is that they have a thinner sole than my Celeris boots, and I have to shorten my stirrups when I wear them. And I'm painfully lazy. So yeah. The fit is perfect on these though, just as good as my customs! Actually, they're better since my customs are all a little too loose these days.

That's it for today! Any favorites?
