Thursday's Threads

We did our outfit day photos yesterday because we knew today would be non riding. It was 98 degrees here today but my thermometer in the sun read 103. It was pretty humid too. Yesterday was hot but not quite as bad. So we did very light rides and enjoyed backyard snacks. Our outfit reflects such things. Ha! Also, I imagine you're expecting a really fun 4th of July outfit today, but I'm going to disappoint you. I'm just not feeling the 'Merica pride this year for so many reasons. Which is sad because I was excited to celebrate 250 years. Anyway, Eros is our model today! His photos are indoors are so not the best quality but when we ride bareback I have to get on in the barn using the arm of my bench. What can I say? He's tall and I'm not!

So... I had to take this photo from above because little Eros was airing out and I didn't think that was appropriate here. Also, I fixed that mane today. Look at it! He looks ready for the western show pen.

Bridle: Pinnacle
Browband: Dark Jewel Designs
I switched from my La Cense side pulls to these from Pinnacle a couple years ago, and I really am so happy with these! It's not the nicest leather of all time, but we're not showing in a side pull so who cares?

Bareback Pad: Brockamp
Baby Pad: Ogilvy
Girth: Mattes
Yes, I know that girth doesn't fit him. I don't ride him bareback all that often so he shares this with Shiny. Someday I'll get him his own.

That's what he had on! No boots needed for a pitter patter around. So it's my turn! Here's what I had on:
The best way to turn a boring outfit fun is to add cow boots.

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS
I wrapped some plain black inserts with cow print vinyl to match my boots. Up close it's a little wrinkly, but from afar it looks just fine!

Shirt:MathCat
This one was a little heavier than I should have worn yesterday... but I survived! I do like these shirts a lot but the material is a little heavier than the Luyaa ones.

Belt: Tory Burch
I've had this for ages. It's fun and metallic, but still kind of a neutral.

Breeches:RJ Classics
I like the RJ breeches. They are comfortable and not too heavy weight. But the material does get pilled. Not a big deal for schooling pants, but they aren't SUPER cheap, so I do wish they held up a little better.

Boots: Celeris UK
I just love these so much. They're fun. They're comfy. Perfect!

And that's it for today! Hope you're all staying cool under this heat dome!

Thursday's Threads

You Northern New Englanders may not like today's outfit... BUT I DO! Go Yankees! (Though they do kind of suck this year...) For the horses' outfit, I'm not revealing who made the pads and boots for me because, well... we aren't officially licensed ya know? So mums the word on that. You can probably figure it out based on other things I've had done in the past.  Normally I try to play by the rules with stuff like that, but the Yankees don't make horse stuff for me to buy so I had to do what I had to do... Alright, let's see what we all wore!

Now that I know Shiny has a good fitting saddle, I could probably try using some regular pads on her. But I have all these built in half pad ones for her, so I probably won't.

Bridles: Joseph Sterling
Browbands: ME! I made those!
Okay, so the browbands are definitely "schooling quality", but I was pretty happy with them for occasional use. Here they are not on a bridle:

I just got leather strap the same width of this ribbon I found. Glued on the ribbon with flexible fabric glue, trimmed the ends, and used Chicago screw rivets with balls on the end for easy removal.  I did have snaps which I could have used, but these look nicer and are just as easy to use. I used the same bridles that my spike browbands are usually on. And well... now that I know how easy these are to do, maybe I'll make some others in the future. I think they came out cute!

Saddles: Shiny-Custom Saddlery, Eros-Butet
Saddle Pads: Shiny-Mattes, Eros I'm not telling and the half pad is Ippico

Cute right? I found baseball images/logos online and made a little pattern that I had printed on Eros' pad and the boots you'll see shortly. I have a few other designs on my list to get made. I have to spread them out as the budget allows. But I have a few I'm really excited to get done!

Boots:
I really wish I could make this stuff myself. But how fun are these boots?!

And here's what I wore:
I didn't really how washed out this photo was when I took it, sorry! But you can get the idea.

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS Wide Brim
So this is actually the navy with rose gold helmet, but I replaced the rose gold rail and navy front shield with this lighter blue color. I really bought it for the other barn, but for now it's home with me.

Tee: MLB Shop
This tee was from Derek Jeter's final season before retiring. The last of the Core Four. I got to meet him briefly when we were vacationing in the same place many years ago!

Belt: Vineyard Vines
Prior to Vineyard Vines making this perfect Yankees belt, I was wearing one with an enormous western style buckle when I went to games. I like this one much better.

Breeches: Halter Ego
Admittedly, I bought these in the wrong size and they're a little big, though a trip through the dryer has helped a little. If you get a pair, size down! These are my normal size, but they run big. I love the marble look to them, and the bright blue accents are super fun.

Boots: De Niro Salentino
These are the pair I found on sale at Equiport in stock and in my size! Fate boots. I'm a big fan of them. The only reason I don't wear them more is that they have a thinner sole than my Celeris boots, and I have to shorten my stirrups when I wear them. And I'm painfully lazy. So yeah. The fit is perfect on these though, just as good as my customs! Actually, they're better since my customs are all a little too loose these days.

That's it for today! Any favorites?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day again! I went with some green this week, but only me. The horses wore blue. Here are the boys in their outfits:

They both wore their Camelot RCS Gold bridles. Pammon has a saddle pad from Premier Equine and Eros' pad is from Mattes. The half pad is Kavalkade. Pammon's boots are from Premier Equine and Eros' are the HKM ones I haven't thrown out yet...

And here's what I wore:
It was warmish yesterday, but still sweater weather. I think it stayed in the high 50's/low 60's.

Helmet: One K MIPS

Recycled photo... I wore the green accents with my green sweater. Obviously!

Sweater: Nantucket
I have this sweater in two colors that I purchased different years. I miss Nantucket so much and hope we get to go back this year!

Belt: The Sugar Lady
I'm still so in love with this belt that's made with Rio's tail hair. It came out so much better than I even imagined.

Breeches: Ariat
These are the Olympia style from Ariat. I only buy them when I find them on sale because they're not the cheapest style, but they do fit really well.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I mostly bought these because of the green background... But also, that horse kinda looks like Pammon doesn't it?

Boots: Celeris UK

Another recycled photo... sorry! But I wore these again. I wanted my most broken in boots for the first several outdoor rides. You know, just in case I need to hang on tight! I'll probably have them on again next week too. Sorry to be redundant.

And that's it for this week! Any favorites? I plan to have a fun themed outfit next week for you guys. I'm pretty excited about it, it's funny!
