Soooo.... You know how I braid part time? You would think that I keep my manes neat and tidy all year round, right? LOL. Nope. So my confession today is that I let Eros' mane get to this point:
That's some legit wild mustang mane right there... I had all kinds of excuses. I keep it long so I can grab it when things get hairy (lol, see what I did there) over fences... I keep it long because he hates having it pulled and it's to thick to just shorten... I keep it long so it all stays over on one side... So may excuses.
But the real reason I let it get like this? Pure laziness. I just didn't feel like dealing with it. But even I couldn't take it any more, so this weekend I finally did something about it.
So much better. It's still too long if he were to need to be braided, but it's pretty perfect since that won't happen anytime in the near future. Shiny will get hers done this week... Her mane isn't quite to the point Eros' was, but it's definitely due for some attention.
Do you let your manes get crazy or keep them tidy all the time?
I'm too lazy for mane care so I just shave them off 😂 thank god it's breed standard for the mares lol
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Your girls do look beautiful with or without manes. I like mine to grab on to though!
DeleteI used to let Promise's get too long and then pull it really short and let it get too long again LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's a vicious cycle! Lol!
DeleteLolz I’ve got zero shame when it comes to butchering my horses mane with scissors ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it works for the style of braid I do anyway
ReplyDeleteHey, you do what works, right?!
DeleteOne of my horse's best qualities is that he stands perfectly still for mane pulling. I've never had one as good as him, so it's the one grooming thing I always stay on top of!
ReplyDeleteI might be better about it if they would stand! Eros and Shiny both HATE having it pulled.
DeleteEver since I learned how to do nice dressage braids with a long mane I have never pulled or shortened, I just snip the scraggly bits off occasionally
ReplyDeleteEros grows a shocking amount of hair, so at some point it would still need to be shortened I think. But sometimes I wish he was a jumper or dressage horse, so I wouldn't have to pull it ever!
DeleteI tell myself it would be a cardinal sin to do anything to Gwyn's mane since she's part friesian. So... wild it is haha.
ReplyDeleteOh true! Gotta follow the breed standard!
DeleteRemus falls asleep pulling his mane but i have to say since I moved to Trinity i haven't messed my fingers up doing it. They do it for me and not only that but they keep it up so it never gets to the long phase. I was HORRIBLE about doing it. SO that works for me :) LAZY THY NAME IS MICHELE PAY SOMEONE TO DO IT :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the way to do it! LET SOMEONE ELSE! Hahahaha!
DeleteI seriously hate pulling manes.
