Thursday's Threads

This edition of Thursday's Threads should be titled, "It's a Miracle I Managed to Dress Myself." I woke up Wednesday morning at 4 AM to braid a couple of horses before work. Then I worked a full day, went home to take care of the fur kids, and went back to the horse show to braid SEVEN MORE manes AND tails. I got back  home at 4 AM this morning. That's a full 24 hour day my friends. I slept from 4:15 to 8:15 and headed in to work. So really, it's a miracle I have clothing on properly.
Let's see how I did!

Not too bad, right?! I know, I shocked myself. My glasses which you can't really see in the photo even match my pants. Impressed?!

Top: Express $11.99
Whilst shopping with my mom on Saturday, we saw that Express was having their semi annual sale. You know how much I love sales! I actually got this shirt, and it's fraternal twin in mint! I love lace this season, and really like how the little gold studs around the neckline spice it up a little. The mint version has gunmetal spikes on it. Both are adorable!

Belt:
Polo Outlet

This is one of my go-to belts when I wear purple. It's a soft suede and the buckle from a normal angle is shaped like a stirrup (not so much in this photo, sorry!). My sister-in-law got this one for me for Chanukah I think two years ago. Definitely one of my faves!

Pants:
Rue 21 $8.99

These are pretty much the same as the mint and the white ones you've seen already. I love me some inexpensive pants!

Shoes:
Nine West Outlet $19.99

Just some very simple flip flops. I love the natural color. They go with literally everything. (Ok, ALMOST literally...) I've even paired them with a sundress once or twice and the look was adorable.

Accessories!

Try to ignore my gray hair and just notice the pretty, sparkly hair tie from Dye Ties. It's actually a headband, but I didn't want to wear it that way today. Very cute! I had gotten this in a two pack (the other is magenta) from Little Black Bag. (I REALLY miss that site. So much.)

I'm not sure why these photos won't rotate... Anyway, my right hand up at the top there has a cute little purple paw bracelet from The Animal Rescue Site. I like shopping over there, they donate a portion to rescues! The other one I made awhile back. It's purple cotton cord with large pale pink cube beads and smaller, purple ones.
Lefty on the bottom has two different bit bracelets from BaubleBar and of course my trusty watch!

So what are you all wearing today? Is this even intelligible in my exhausted state?

Truthful Tuesday

Sooo... you remember I mentioned shopping with my mom on Saturday? What I didn't mention is that after we went to the mall, we went to DSW. Designer Shoe Warehouse. Yep. So obviously this post is about my acquiring more shoes. BUT in my defense, I only shopped the sale section! 70-80% off all of my new footwear! How could I say no?!
Not much else to say really, except to show them to you. Remember, these were super on sale, so that means mostly off-season.

Vince Camuto Leather Sandals:
$17.98

These are soooo pretty! The photos were taken at the wront time of day, but they are a metallic light pink with lizard embossing on the straps.

Tahari Black Leather Boots, with stretchy back panel:
$29.99. No really.
outside

inside
I love these so much, I would marry them if I could. Buttery soft leather. Glove-like fit. Rubber sole with big tread for safe winter walking.... Ahhhh LOVE!

Steve Madden Gray Leather Boots:
$44.98
outside

Inside
Before you judge, these are GRAY not BLACK so I didn't just get two pairs of black boots! I probably didn't need these ALSO, but they were so much on sale, and so pretty.... How could I not?

These were not from DSW, but are shoes, so they belong in this post.
Aeropostale Zebra Shoes:
$9.99

I love Zebras.

Anything you want to confess?! It can't just be me that has indiscretions!

Would You Rather....

I'm borrowing this one from Runs With Pugs because, well, I love these things! This is a running themed Would You Rather...

1... run a 5K or a Marathon?

For me, it's definitely a 5K. I have zero desire to run a full. ZERO! I actually enjoy the 5K because it doesn't take up the whole day. And I do have a chance of achieving another PR someday at that distance. I think anyway! Also, the shorter distance is great for getting family and friends to join you! My only dislike of the 5K is that some days I feel like I haven't warmed up until I'm at the end. And that's a bummer!

2...run a flat race in the heat or a hilly race in the cold?

This race was both hot and hilly.

I think a hot flat race. Maybe. I really hate the cold. I don't mind hills so much. But I prefer the rolling ones to the long slow incline type. I'm going to stick with hot and flat.

3... get new running shoes or a new running outfit?

I tend to wear my shoes until they're not good anymore. So I guess my answer to this would depend on where I am in my shoe cycle. But if they're good, I'd say outfit. I love clothes!

4... run a marathon without headphones or a garmin?

Well we've already established that I will not be running a full. But hypothetically, I would rather have my watch than headphones. I run without music fairly often, especially at races. There are so many people in the back where I tend to be, I'd rather strike up a conversation than listen to tunes I think. I've had my watch malfunction on runs before, and that's far worse. I like having an idea of where I am at all times. Towards the end of a half, those later miles seem to go on forever, and at least with the watch you know how much further you have left!

5... run a race because of the convenience (location, price) or the swag?

It kind of depends really. There is a half sort of near me that is convenient, cheap, AND has great swag, so obviously I've run that one. The number above is from a half that has very little swag (t-shirt but no medal), and I doubt I'll run that one again. I have to fit races in around my horse show schedule so often that means convenience wins out. But I'm DYING to run another Disney half, and that's mostly because of the swag. I guess if it weren't for the horses, swag would definitely win out.

6... PR but finish injured, or miss the PR but finish feeling great?

I am definitely more of a finish healthy kind of runner. I'll never be fast. Unless you're an elite athlete, I feel like finishing strong and healthy is definitely a better plan that potentially never running again, just to see a lower number on the clock. But maybe that's just because I'm not actually good at running?

7... do 100 squats or 100 pushups?

See those arms? They were made for push ups! Those thighs? They were not made for squatting.

8... run without socks or without a sports bra?

As you can see from this photo... not much need for the bra. Socks on the other hand? My feet need socks.

9... run on the treadmill for an hour or run around the same street block for an hour?

Definitely outside. Unless there is high risk of me getting shot in a drive by or something...

10... run a Ragnar Relay or a Marathon Relay?

I've actually done both, and both were super fun. But I think Ragnar is way more fun! I may look to do another at some point!

11... do a naked run or naked yoga?

I'm not posting a photo for this one!

I'd rather do neither. But I'm going to say naked yoga, because I could probably do that at my house where no one would see me!

12... give up running for three years and get qualified for Boston, or run whenever you want and never qualify for Boston?

As previously mentioned... ZERO DESIRE TO RUN A FULL! EVEN BOSTON! Although they do have a lovely (albeit crowded) 5K the day BEFORE the marathon, which I must say is a lot of fun. Probably more so than running the marathon.

I'd love to hear your answers to these! Feel free to answer here in the comments, message me on FB, or on your own blog! (If you choose your own blog, link in the comments so I can see your answers!)

Is it me, or are long weekends too short??

July 4th weekend is definitely one of my favorites! While there's never a guarantee of good weather, you can usually count on it being warm at the very least. I didn't really make any plans for the weekend, but rather decided to play it by ear. And I'm glad I did!
Friday I had to do barn chores in the morning, which was good as it got me out of bed instead of letting me sloth around for too long. Fortunately, I got all the stalls done and horses turned out and back in before the rain came. Once it arrived... IT POURED BUCKETS ALL DAY! I could tell from my Facebook news feed that many plans were canceled and days ruined. But selfishly, I was kind of happy for the rainy day. I hung out with the pugs, and even took a nap!
Here's a pictorial essay of my Friday:

The puggies taking a nap

Jampy not wanting his photo taken

Ducky pretending he's cute
Saturday TOTALLY made up for Friday's rainout. I woke up to sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. Yay! I started my day with breakfast downtown and running some errands. I then headed out to the barn to do pony things. And I made sure to finish in time for some relaxing by the pool with an adult freeze pop. I also did some laundry while lounging. 2 Birds, 1 Stone. Win! At 5 I went out to feed the tall four legged kids, and then headed out for some bonding time with my mom. We went to a semi-local mall and did some damage to my bank account. Maybe I'll recap my shopping day in another post... Here's Saturday's pictorial essay:

Gorgeous pool day!

Pia making it clear I take too many pics
Sunday was a carbon copy of Saturday, only warmer. So gorgeous! Jampy and I had a horse show to go to, so the morning was spent prepping and the afternoon showing. He was a perfect pony! I accidentally learned the wrong course for the first class, so we were disqualified from that one. Oops. But the rest went great! My weekend was topped off with a barbeque at the family beach house. Perfect end to an almost perfect weekend! I didn't take many photos Sunday, but here are our prizes from the horse show!

How was your holiday weekend? Do anything fun? Did you have nice weather?

Thursday's Threads!

It's HOT and HUMID out there today! My kind of weather! Ok, well I could probably skip the humidity, but I HATE WINTER SO MUCH that I'm not allowed to complain about anything hot or humid. I LOVE summer! So here's what I'm wearing today:

We'll start up and work down.

Top: Eyeshadow 12.99 at Marshalls

I love the lace-like part on the shoulders and back. It's not so see-through as to be inappropriate for my casual workplace, but it is nice and cool!

Belt: Designer inspired from a flea market. I don't recall the price, I've had it probably 10 years.

This is definitely one of my favorite LV patterns though. It's so summery!

Pants: Joes $16.99 TJ Maxx

Your eyes are not deceiving you, they actually ARE silver. Not so silver as to be ridiculous, just enough to make them more fun than plain white jeans. They are cute with nautical inspired tops as well. Great find!

Shoes: Sperry's $34.99 at TJ Maxx

These were the only pair there! They're actually half a size smaller than I normally wear, but luckily they must run a little big, because they are perfect! I LOVE them so much! What a deal, as I have never seen the hair-on Sperry's for under $70.00. And the colors are amazing too!

Arm Party Time!

Up on top there, on my left hand is a rhinestone bangle from BaubleBar. I think it was a buried bauble one week which would have made it $10.00. Next is a plastic chain bracelet from Little Black Bag (who I'm missing terrible lately!). I forget the brand on this one, but I wound up getting a black one too, since I liked this one so much. It's hard to see in the photo, but just part of it is pink, the rest is gold toned. I think by now you're all pretty well acquainted with my trusty watch.
Righty is sporting a stretchy rhinestone bracelet from Express (it came in a pack of 10, all different colors), a friendship bracelet from Gypsies and Debutantes (I LOVE their stuff!), and a rhinestone friendship bracelet from BaubleBar (this was also a $10.00 buried bauble).

What are you wearing today? How's the weather? Big plans for the long weekend?

Truthful Tuesday

Truthful Tuesday definitely needs to be lighter than last week! So this week I shall show you all my laziness and a small waste of money.

First off, I haven't filed at work since February:

I think today should be the day. That's definitely going to fall soon. And THAT would be a mess!

Next, this is what the floor of my laundry room looked like up until Sunday.

Sometimes I do wonder if maybe the shoe thing is becoming a problem.... but then I get them all put away, and I realize it's not at all. Laziness is the problem!

And lastly, I bought a sticky note pad at Target that looks like a sandwich. I hardly ever use sticky notes. But how could I not? It's great on my desk, cracked my supervisor right up when he saw it! I mean look:

Anything you'd like to get off your back? Buy anything stupid and semi-useless lately?
