Thursday's Threads: Summertime Edition

 

Outfit Day!!! We are making sure to fully embrace all things summer before fall gets here (and I can tell, it's coming...). So Eros and I chose a watermelon theme for this week. Here's what we wore:

I love that he'll humor me with a snuggle even when wearing a ridiculous outfit. That's the mark of a solid amateur horse! Let's look closer at his outfit today.

I was feeling like he had lost some weight since the spring... but I dunno looking at this photo. That's quite the belly on him! My saddle looks awfully small up there.

I felt like this brow band deserved a closeup. I know, it's ridiculous. But I love it! 

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Ippico
Saddle Pad: Smartpak embellished by me

It's a little hard to see, but the ribbon on the pad is watermelon printed. Rind on the bottom, then the fruit part complete with seeds!

Boots: Premier Equine embellished by me

I wanted to find ribbon that was the same as the pad's, but I couldn't find it in the right width for the boots. So I went with this fabric instead. It's cute, even if the colors are a little different. That's why I chose pink for the brow band base, figured it would pull it all together. 

Here's what I wore today:

Nothing says summer like watermelon! And bright green pants. Evidently.

Helmet: Samshield

I chose this helmet today because the crystals felt kind of seed like to me. I think it works.

Top: Promesa

I was actually planning to just wear a pink shirt, but then I found that I had this one, and it's obviously the only real choice. It's tie dye, it's watermelon, it has a little cutout. What more could you want?

Belt: C4

This belt is almost the exact same as the ribbon on my saddle pad. Love a good matchy matchy moment.

Breeches: Equiline

I always whine a little when I share my Equilines with you because they frustrate me. I think these are maybe a little too small based on the stress on that pocket zipper... But the pairs I have that are the size up are a little too loose. So I guess I'm in between. Regardless of sizing, I love the color of these pants. They're so fun!

Boots and Half Chaps: HKM

Admittedly, I should have given these a cleaning before taking this photo... But I didn't. Keepin' it real over here. I got these toward the end of winter when my black boots died, and I really like them. I'm not sure they'll live that long, they're pretty thin, but they're going strong so far!

I forgot to take a photo of my socks, and I've already changed, but I wore some Dreamers and Schemers socks that I got in a special pack they did a few years back. I was able to find a photo of them on the internet, so here's what they look like:

Super cute, and the green was a pretty close match to my breeches. So fun!

Outfit day already! This week has flown right by... I had an exciting realization that a pair of boots that I LOVE but never wore because they were too tight actually fit me now. So I was super excited to share them this week. So, here's what I wore to ride yesterday:

I know, green again... but really this week is more brown themed with green accents. Totally different.

Helmet: One K Defender

I haven't worn this helmet in FOREVER. No time like the present to bust it out! It has snakeskin for the center panel.

Top: Unsure of brand

I stumbled across this hoodie awhile back on Poshmark. How perfect is it?! Exactly my barn colors and covered in horses? I HAD to have it.

Belt: Pony Locks

Jampy's belt was clearly the best choice for this outfit. Being that it's chocolate brown with just a thin layer of green padding for trim.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman

I'm such a sucker for a tan patch...

Boots: Mountain Horse Serengetti

You guys. I am SO excited to finally be fitting in these boots. I love them. They're green and brown, and SO comfortable. Plus, the height is perfect too. Like they were made for me! I've been staring at them for about a year and a half now. Almost sold them so many times. So glad I held on to them. For some reason, Mountain horse doesn't make wide calf boots in my shoe size. I wear a six. They don't make wide calf until size 7. Makes no sense, but it's limited my buying from them. I took a chance on the regular with these just because I loved them so much. FINALLY I can wear them! Woohoo!

Arm Party!!!

Lefty:

These are mostly repeats from last week. I'm really loving this bit bracelet I made... I hope that's not to vain. But it's super cute and comfortable to wear. The middle one I made a long while ago. It has a brown braided leather in the center then gold and green on either side. Pretty perfect match to the sweatshirt. And I've been wearing the green rubber band for a bit now. Love the shade of green!

Righty:

Righty is donning this wrap bracelet with the running horse (matches the ones on the shirt!) along with the fitbit. This wrap is a new design for me, but I think I like it! Might have to make a green one too. 

That's what I wore, but the horses have outfits to share too! I forgot to take full photos (sorry) but here's everything individually:

Saddles: Butet for both!

Pads: Eous baby pad with a horze half pad for Eros, FSS pad for Shiny

It's interesting... these saddles are actually basically the same model. Both are the deep seat (Butet calls it a C). Eros' has a 2 flap and Shiny has a 1. But the difference in length between the two flaps is a lot. They don't make a size in between that I know of, but the 2 is too long for me and the 1 is too short. I wanted a short flap for the pony, so no complaints. I'm just not sure what I would do if I decided my real saddle will be a Butet. It's possible the flap size increases some with the seat size maybe... Shiny's is a 17 and Eros' is a 17.5. I guess this is why you have a rep out if you plan to buy new.

Boots: HKM for Eros and Eskadron for Shiny

I've had the HKM boots forever, but Shiny's are newish (I've had them awhile but haven't used them until now),

Bridles: Both are wearing the QHP Bridle with browbands from Dark Jewel Designs

Thursday's Threads

Happy Outfit Day! So yesterday, as I already whined, was full of annoyances. Due to that, I didn't get out of work until 5:30 which made me 30 minutes behind schedule for the evening. Boo. That left me a bit scattered and I totally forgot to take outfit photos. Fear not though, I remembered this morning and thus bring you a flat version of what I wore to ride last night!

I may have fished that stuff out of the laundry... excuse the wrinkles.

Top: Eddie Bauer

I couldn't get an accurate photo of the color, but I think you've all seen this one before. It's a nice heathered green.

Belt: Mane Jane

I went with the hunter green Mane Jane strap last night. The other side of this one is black and that's what I wore to work yesterday. So convenient to have two belts in one!

Breeches: Horseware

I've decided that my corduroy breeches are the warmest, so I've pretty much only been wearing them when it's cold out. Last night was ridiculously cold, and I went with the tan ones.

Boots: Tredstep

Alright, these have won my cold little heart. Last night when I arrived at the barn, my truck said it was 17 degrees out. It was probably a bit warmer in the indoor, but not significantly. My toes never even felt cool, let alone cold. I LOVE these, and highly recommend if you want a boot for very cold winters.

So that's what I had on to ride. I wore my embroidered farm jacket over top and my black snakeskin one K helmet. Ok, now on to today's outfit!

It MIGHT get to 30 today for a high, so clearly, once again, the theme is WARM. But I'm also sick of winter, so I'm trying to push spring along with some more spring like colors.

Sweater: The Republic

It reads Eclectic which honestly describes me pretty well. It's a fancy word for weird after all! Hahaha! I love the colors though, pink and purple were my jam growing up.

Belt: Swanky Saddle

I actually think this belt strap is from someplace other than Swanky Saddle, but I couldn't tell you where it came from. It's 100 years old (give or take). But the buckle definitely came from SS and I love it so much! I don't wear it nearly enough.

Jeans: True Religion

Couple of things here... First, having a True Religion outlet so close by has been a real detriment to my wallet. Second, real talk here, these jeans are probably a size too small. But I got myself in! I HAD to wear the pretty pink stitching with my pink and purple sweater. HAD TO.

Shoes: Forever

These sneakers I think came from one of Zulily's huge sales, and are basically from a no name cheapo designer. BUT they are full on pink glitter and therefore pretty amazing. They're also super comfy, so who cares who made them? I think I paid like $8 for them. Well spent my friends.

Arm Party!
Lefty:

Lefty is sporting a wrap bracelet and a cuff bracelet that I had made awhile back. Love the glitter! And the colors are PERFECT with the sweater.

Righty:

Righty is totally eclectic today! (See what I did there?) I've mixed my metals (rose and yellow gold) and my materials (string, metal, leather).
First up is a waxed cord friendship bracelet from Pura Vida with a dainty little rose gold rose. Next is a vintage bracelet I snagged on Poshmark. The wrap bracelet is made from coiled string. It came sold by the inch and I just added a clasp to make it a bracelet. The last one is a spikey bracelet from BaubleBar that I bought YEARS ago.

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day!!! And I remembered to photograph the riding outfit yesterday. Yay for not being completely senile! We'll start there since I owe you guys...

Yeah... I couldn't actually just wear that sweatshirt since it's freaking freezing now. It was more like this:

A little monochromatic on the outside I guess. Whatever. Warm beats exciting every time.

Helmet: One K

Yeah... it's a recycled photo. Same helmet though!

Sweatshirt: Unbranded
Vest and Jacket: Eddie Bauer

This sweatshirt is HILARIOUS! I mean... look at the mare with the fancy hat! Hahaha! I was targeted by Facebook's algorithm with an ad for this sweatshirt, and I figured it matched pretty closely with some accessories I had already... so you know. I bought it. It's not particularly warm, but it's amazing in it's own right. The jacket and vest I've had for a few years now, so you've seen them before. I still love them after all these years!

Belt: C4

See??! Pretty close match right?! The ponies aren't as well outfitted on the belt, but the color scheme is similar.

Breeches: Devon Aire

I've always kind of hated Devon Aire stuff, but found these breeches on sale awhile back and thought I'd give them a chance. I have regrets though, and once these are washed they're going straight to used horse stuff. They would NOT stay up! Seriously, when I got home last night the crotch was sagging somewhere around mid thigh. No thanks.

Socks: Ovation

I discovered by accident that Ovation made socks to match the C4 belt. And it was an exciting discovery.

Boots: Tuffrider Regals

This pair is really holding its own... I almost wore fun boots for you guys today, but then the sweatshirt arrived and I HAD to do that first. Maybe next week!

That's what I rode in yesterday, and now for today's work outfit:

The theme today is cozy. We're expecting snow later today, and honestly, I want zero part of that. But I will me cozy damn it!

Sweater: Tommy Hilfiger

It doesn't quite show in the photo, but this is actually a heathered brown color. I LOVE it. I went to the Tommy outlet Saturday to get my brother's birthday gift and this beauty was sitting there all 40% off so I got me a present too. Don't pretend like that surprises you.

Belt: Tredstep

I think these elastic belts from Tredstep are really fun. They're not as easily stretched as the elastic ones I like to complain about, so it still does its job pretty well.

Jeans: American Eagle

These pants are like lint magnets, but because the color is so perfect, I don't hold that against them. Plus they're super comfy like jammies.

Boots: I can't remember the brand.... sorry!

I had to grab this photo with the boot stool in the back... I match my furniture! Hahahaha! Anyway, I forget the brand on these, but I got them from Zulily last year. You've seen them a ton, and I have a feeling you'll keep seeing them if this ridiculous weather keeps up all winter.

Lefty:

It's all homemade on the arms today (other than the watch of course). I love these memory wire/leather bracelets I found a tutorial for last spring. And I was soooo excited to find this rhinestone leather for this horse bracelet in GREEN!

Righty:

After making the bracelets for the Skidmore College horse show this summer, I've become slightly obsessed with this flat stitched leather. These bracelets are so easy to make and are soooo cute! Love this little stack in my barn colors.
