Thursday's Threads: St Patrick's Day edition

Outfit Day!! You'll have to use your imagination a little with this one because we didn't get to actually ride in our St Patty's day outfit this year. We're going to use some old photos from our Pinsnickety photo shoot that the very talented Chelsea Lothrop took a few years ago for Eros' outfit. Here's what he would have worn this week if the weather had played nicer.

He would have been wearing his Joseph Sterling bridle with the Dark Jewel spiked browband. He has a cute Pinsnickety pin in his forelock in this photo.
He also would have been wearing his Butet saddle, this mattes pad, and that adorable Lettia baby pad. We probably wouldn't have had a number on though.

That's what the horses would have worn (more or less) and here's what I had on, because I did have high hopes that we might ride.
Nothing says St Patty's like green and gold! I really had no idea I'd get so much use of these $50 Winnie the Pooh colored breeches.

Sweater: Luyaa
This is one of my many inexpensive wool sweaters that are perfect for the barn. This one has a weird neck line though. I think it's stretched out. But whatever. Horse clothes don't have to be perfect.

Belt: Unbranded
Buckle: Ovation
I'm not sure what happened to the strap this belt actually came with, but I'm using it on this yellow one today. It doesn't look it here, but the belt and the breeches are pretty much the exact same shade.

Breeches: Vestrum
These are a ridiculous color for breeches. RIDICULOUS. But here we are. Loving them! Ha!

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I've had a few lucky themed boot socks over the years, but these are my favorites so far.

Since I didn't ride, I didn't wear boots or a helmet. But here's what I would have worn if I did.
Boots: TuffRider (embellished by me)
Helmet: Equinavia
I'm really impressed with how the glitter paint has held up on these boots over the years. Makes me want to paint more boots... but I won't. For now anyway. I'm looking into a fun new green helmet from Fair Play to possibly replace this one. I don't love how this helmet fits me so I hardly ever wear it. But I'm not sure the Fair Play one will be any better. It's really pretty though!

Okay that's it for this week! Any favorites? Anything you guys want to see soon? Themes, colors? Anything? Let me know in the comments!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! We have a fun one to share today. It's not new, but I don't think I've shared much of this stuff in quite awhile. It was Al's turn to model this week, but he was... not thrilled with the job today. In his defense, the flies are relentless this week. Let's see what he was wearing!

The tail though! Poor Al.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
I asked him repeatedly to wear his ears, but he just kept saying "NO!". So this is all I got today.

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Ippico
Baby Pad: The Barn Closet
Pins: Pinsnickety

I'm having fun using all my number pins just as accessories since we haven't ventured to any horse shows. It's silly to just have them sitting around collecting dust. How adorable are these foxes?

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
Aren't these foxes adorable? I decided a little last minute to do this outfit, so I didn't have a lot of fabric options that would arrive in time for today. Fortunately, this one is perfect!

Charm: Pinsnickety
We also used our adorable fox charm from Pinsnickety. I put it on his martingale strap rather than the bridle. I kind of think bridle charms can be distracting to the horses. I mean, I wouldn't want something flapping around by my eyeball. But the martingale seemed like the perfect place for this little guy.

That's what Al was wearing, and here's what I had on:

Another cute fox! Fox themes feel autumnal to me, so I figured now that the days are noticeably shorter, it was the perfect time to wear them. Full disclosure though, it was sweater weather this morning when I first headed out to the barn, but I ditched the sweater before riding since it actually warmed up pretty nicely today. Thank goodness.

Hemet: One K
I don't think I've worn this one since fourth of July! I was worried the liner would be stretched out since I made my little brother wear it when he hopped on Eros that day. Happy to report it still fits just fine! Could use a little dusting off though...

Sweater: The Loft
I've had this sweater for ages. At least seven years. I still think it's adorable. It's very light weight, so perfect for fall.

Belt: C4
I really thought I had a navy C4 fox belt, but I was wrong. Just this black one. But it's doing the job just fine. Especially since the saddle pad is gray. Kind of ties it all together.

Breeches: Vestrum
It was fun to wear the orange breeches on a day other than Halloween or Thanksgiving. They were perfect with this sweater. And with the saddle pad. I really was worried I would regret buying these, but I have no regrets. They are so fun!

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
This is a terrible photo. Those are cute little foxes al over the socks which are black. They match pretty nicely with the saddle pad and belt.

Boots: Celeris UK
I was undecided what boots I was going to wear today because I nearly forgot I had these... Ooops. They were perfect with this outfit and are nearly done with the break in process. Nearly. But not quite yet. I'm really happy with them. For demo boots, they fit me perfectly!

That's it for today. Like the foxes? Any favorite things from this outfit?

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! I have a fun one today! Al wanted to be the model because we wore bees today and Eros hates bugs. And Shiny modeled last week. So Al it is! If you follow Pinsnickety's socials you might have gotten a sneak peak, but they attributed the outfit to Shiny. We know the truth though! It was Al! Okay, let's get to it. Al's outfit is cuter than mine, so he'll go first:

From afar, it looks relatively classy. But you know me better than that. It's full of cute. You'll see.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Home made by me
Charm: Pinsnickety
I always forget how much Blogger murders the photo quality. So I will include a closer photo of our silly brow band and cute charm here:
I love how silly these brow bands are. The beads are from Amazon, they have all different themes of these wooden beads, and I just think they're ridiculous and adorable. I've been trying to use more of my Pinsnickety items in everyday life since I don't show much, and I thought this was the perfect use for the charm.

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Ippico
Saddle Pad: Ogilvy with some embellishments by me
Pin: Pinsnickety
I think this set up is pretty cute. I also think I need to clean and condition this saddle... Here's another close up because you can't really see the ribbon trim in this above photo:
Aren't those bees cute?! I'm not a big fan of real life bees. Stings hurt! But these kinds of bees are adorable.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me

I used this fabric with the crowns for my interchangeable boots to match the Pinsnickety pin. But they definitely work with the saddle pad trim too! I think they're pretty cute. Queen bees!

That's what Al was wearing, and here what I had on this week:
I do have some kind of bee print tee shirt, but it's cotton and the humidity here this week is not cotton friendly. So I went with this yellow top instead. It was a smart choice.

Helmet: Samshield, embellished by my friend

Okay, so full disclosure... This helmet has expired. But I wore it maybe ten times in it's lifetime before that happened, maybe even less. So I still wear it now and then. It was a regular brim, but I had this wide brim that snaps on to it already so I've been using that with it. I like how it looks! A friend of mine just retired and is trying to start up a little side gig blinging helmets. She did this one for me. It has black crystals along the rail, and some green ones just below the shield. She also put my initials (SS) on the back with green crystals. Nice and small so it looks really cute. I should have grabbed a photo of the back. Sorry about that.

Top: Luyaa
I'm such a fan of these Amazon shirts. They're perfect for summer. I want to get rid of most of my sunshirts and just wear these.

Belt: Amazon
I tried really hard to find a bee belt buckle that was black and yellow like a normal bee. But this was all I could find. It does the job. The belt is reversible, it's yellow on the other side, but not the same shade as my shirt.

Breeches: Hadley
These are super old, I haven't been wearing them much. I think they'll probably end up in the sale pile. I still like them, but they are a bit too big and I have other black breeches I wear more often. (I'm a little behind on laundry or you'd have seen those instead!)

Boots: HKM
Half Chaps: HKM
I haven't worn these as much this summer as when I was at the other barn still, but they're still around and going strong! I actually really like them, and would recommend them.

Alright, that's it for today! Did you like the bees? What should we wear next week? I've been having trouble deciding.

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day!!! As mentioned, I have a couple of outfits that I pre-wore to stretch out fun stuff a little before it's just all navy all the time. So today Shiny is our model and I'm wearing a tee shirt even though it's effing freezing here now. Without further ado, here's what Shiny wore:

I could NOT get her ears up for this photo. I tried. I moved her. Tried some more. This was the best I could get. The outfit looks subtle from this photo... But wait till we look closer!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow band: Homemade by me
Bonnet: Woof Wear, embellished by me
Pin: Pinsnickety

There's a LOT of rhinestones in this post. A LOT. But what better outfit for a pony named Shiny, than one that has LOTS OF RHINESTONES? There isn't one better. This is the pinnacle.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: I can't remember the brand on this sorry! Embellished by me
Indeed, those are MORE rhinestones on the saddle pad. Like a lot of them. But I must confess, I ran out and could only do one side of the pad so far. Need to order more.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
I think these rhinestone boot tabs might be my favorite set thus far. I mean, look at all that sparkle! Photos definitely don't do justice here.

So that's what Shiny was wearing, and here's what I had on:

There are less rhinestones on my outfit, but fear not, there's plenty of sparkle still!

Helmet: Samshield
I mean, this was the most obvious choice, was it not?

Tee shirt: Print on Demand by Amazon
I picked up this tee shirt for our Pinsnickety photo shoot, but we didn't really get the chance to shoot it yet since we ran out of daylight. But I wore it for an outfit day since it's adorable.

Belt: Mane Jane
I'm pretty sad Mane Jane doesn't do belts anymore. And all their spur straps are black now which is kinda boring. But I still love their products. Even if they aren't as fun as before. Guess we all have to grow up sometime. Not me though. I'm getting less mature the older I get.

Breeches: Equiline
You all know my Equiline woes. I'm in between sizes. But they are still comfy. And I love this purple color!

Boots: Celeris UK

There's the sparkle! I love these boots. They're SO comfortable. And so sparkly. Sparkle is my favorite color.

That's it for today! Any favorites? How about all that sparkle today?!

Thursday's Threads

Today's outfit is another double dipper. I promise this blog isn't turning into a giant ad for Pinsnickety. It's just that I've made a bunch of outfits for their use and I want to share them. I hope it's not a turnoff! Anyway, as mentioned yesterday, Al's been a bit of a fire breathing dragon, so we decided to dress the part this week. Here's what we had on:

We had a LOT of colors happening in this outfit. I was thinking I'd change to my light blue boots, but then I felt like the metallic on these was dragon-y so I left them. But they really didn't match with my pants! Oh well. Not everything goes perfectly all of the time.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: Made by me (It's ridiculous, and I love it.)
Bonnet: USG
Pinsnickety charm: Dragon
Does that bonnet look small? Ha. That's because I accidentally pulled out Shiny's instead of the horse sized one. His tiny little stallion ears fit in there just fine though!

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Ogilvy, embellished temporarily by me
Half Pad: Ippico
Pinsnickety pins: Dragons
I'm still working out how I like the ribbons on the saddle pads. So no sewing until I figure it out!

Boots: Premier Equine embellished by me

More dragons! It was a challenge finding friendly dragon fabric. Most were more... intimidating looking.

So that's what Al had on, and here's what I was wearing:

Many colors. So many. All of them.

Helmet: Samshield
Well, this one matched the belt. So I went with it.

Long sleeve: Mathcat
Tee shirt: Amazon
The plan was to do all the Pinsnickety photos back in September, but we ran out of daylight. So all of my shirts for that campaign were short sleeved which are not acceptable at this point. So I did what we did back in the 90's and layered. Gotta be honest, I think I'm bringing this look back. I like layers. Also, how ADORABLE is that little dragon? The cutest.

Belt: Standard Issue Equestrian
Buckle: Ebay
Would a silver buckle have been more appropriate here? Definitely. But I already owned this gold one, so I called it good enough.

Breeches: Equiline
So I mentioned it was tricky to find friendly dragon fabric, and it was also tricky to find friendly dragon ribbon for the saddle pad. I had hoped to find blue dragons to match the pins and charm, but alas, I found only green dragons for the ribbon. But also, the dragon on the blue shirt is also green. So I figured we could tie it all together with some green pants. Did it work? Eh. Good enough.

Boots: Celeris UK
I already discussed why I chose these boots above. But also, I've been wearing them as my everyday boots since all of my kind of boring boots need new zippers and/or repairs. I was planning and had started wearing the Mountain Horse brown boots for that purpose, but they left an enormous blister on my heel, and so we're in a temporary fight. I did actually find a pair of closeout DeNiro boots that will be my everyday boots for a STEAL that were supposed to arrive today, but so far have not arrived. Hopefully tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Not that I mind wearing these all the time, but that teal leather is no longer available, and I don't want to destroy these.

So that's it for this week! What do you think of the dragons? Do you like this ribbon layout on the pad? Or was last week's with the skulls better? I'm working on something fun, so would love your opinions!
