Thursday's Threads: Throwback Edition

 

Outfit DAY!!!! Format will be a little bit different today because my model isn't my horse, so some of his tack doesn't relate to our outfit. But I felt it was way too much fun not to use for Thursday's threads this week. Also, I forgot to snap some individual photos of some parts, so some things will be grouped together. It will be fun, I promise! 

We're having spirit week at the other barn and today's theme was Throwback Thursday. We could choose any decade up through the 90's. Obviously I went with the 80's. I got to ride a very tall dude named Slim today and he was the perfect model for my crazy outfit. 

If you're thinking he looks huge, that's because he's 18 hands. Makes Al look like a wee pony. He's standing a bit awkwardly because he was not in fact standing. The bugs are having a real moment around here right now. 

We will look at Slim's outfit first. 

Bridle: Joseph Sterling

Bonnet: Equine Couture that I embellished a bit

Saddle Pad: I can't recall the brand, but she's not in business anymore so it doesn't matter
Fanny Pack: Tipsy Elves

I've had a fanny pack on my horse's neck a couple of times already this week, and I kinda think that should be a thing. My bonnet was a full size and my mount here is more oversize, so when it started coming off halfway through our ride, I just tucked it away in our fanny pack. Very convenient. I can see why they're making a comeback. 

That's what Slim wore (and yes he wore all of it the whole ride, with the exception of the previously discussed bonnet), and now for MY outfit. It's ridiculous. In all the best ways. I don't know brands for everything, much of it has been sitting around in my house. And well, some of it was no name stuff from Amazon. Okay here we go!

Sunnies, side pony, sweatband, and both tops: Amazon
Helmet: One K
Belt: Uknown brand, purchased long ago
Breeches: Tailored Sportsman in Avocado
Bracelets: Unknown brand
Boots: Unknown Brand, painted by ME!

So I discovered that they make pony tails you can suction cup to your helmet. Seriously. They come in all kinds of lengths, colors, and styles. They're supposed to have double sided tape to help it stick which mine didn't come with, so I had to use duct tape. But it stayed put the whole ride which impressed me. If I ever use it again for an 80's outfit, I'm definitely going to crimp it. That was a missed opportunity this time. 

And that's it for today! I mean, honestly, it's way more than needed really... Lol! What do you all think? Did I miss anything? I mean other than horse boots. I try not to mess with whatever someone else's horse normally uses. 

Thursday's Threads: 80's edition

Outfit Day! Today's theme for spirit week is Throwback Thursday and we could dress for any decade up through the 90's. I went with 80's since I had a saddle pad for that. Here's what Pammon and I wore this morning:

Anyone else notice how awkward I'm standing? Apparently, the same awkward as Pammon's back legs... Ha! Like mama like son.

Bonnet: If the Bonnet Fits

Bridle: Camelot wide RCS Bridle

For cheapo bridles, I really like these. Unfortunately, you can only get the padded version now which I don't like as much. I love this spiked bonnet so much. They don't normally bunch up like it's doing in the top photo, it wasn't put on properly. Oops.

Boots: HKM (I think)

I figured black glitter was pretty 80's. I remember a lot of glitter in my childhood.

Saddle: Voltaire Stuttgart

Pad: I forget the name of the company that made this for me... sorry!

Half Pad: Ippico

I've been using the Stuttgart on Pammon lately because I'm too lazy to drag my Hermes back and forth. I can actually sit his trot in this saddle which is kind of a miracle. But I still don't love it. Debating whether I should sell it and try a Butet or a new Hermes, or just keep it and learn to love it. Keeping it would certainly be easier. But we'll see. Anyway, it's maybe hard to see in this photo, but the pad is covered in neon cassette tapes.

So, that's what Pammon wore, and now it's my turn!

Helmet: One K

This helmet isn't particularly 80's... but it has a lot of sparkle, and so I think it works.

Top: District

You all have seen the cassette tank before, but this time i layered it with a neon pink cami. Cause the 80's had layers. And neon. So much neon.

Belt: No brand

I didn't realize the buckle was reflecting the shirt until I went to post this photo. It's all black and rhinestones, no pink on it in real life! I got this from Poshmark awhile back,

Breeches: Smartpak Hadley

These are really black even if they photographed gray here... Just winning at the photo game today aren't I? Sheesh. Anyway, I wore the neon pink breeches Tuesday and I need the neon yellow ones tomorrow. So I just went with black today. 

Boots: Imperial Riding

These are DEFINITELY 80's. The 80's were definitely louder is better. And well... what's louder than these boots? Maybe just the cow ones, but they weren't going to work with the outfit. 

Arm Party!

Lefty:

Lefty is donning a bracelet I made a bit ago. I love those cassette beads. I have some left over still and definitely need to do something else with them.

Righty:

Righty is donning this boom box bracelet from Kate Spade. It's not a cassette... but it would play cassettes so close enough.

Thursdays Threads

Outfit Day!!!!! You guys won't believe this, but my horses had Wednesday off AGAIN. So I didn't have a riding outfit for you. BUT, I feel guilty doing that two weeks in a row, so I'm offering up a flat Stacie. It's bootless, but it's better than nothing. Here's what I'll be wearing tonight:

Hoodie: Tee Spring

Have you guys seen this one floating around Facebook? I saw it while feeling cold one evening and decided to buy it. You can pick from a handful of colors, but obviously I had to get the hunter green version.

Breeches: Good Rider

These were on the 50% off table at Beval when I was in VT this summer. We have discussed it before, but I'm totally into the denim breeches right now. I like that these are gray. Being a different color justified my splurging on them. Kind of. Hey, they were half off! Stop judging. Ok judge.
Anyway, that's what I'm wearing to ride tonight, along with my Tuffrider Regal boots most likely. And here is what I'm wearing at work today. Spoiler alert: It's super retro!

I'm bringing the 80's back. It's time my friends. Also note the short kids in the back ground. They love outfit day too!

Top: Michael Kors

You've definitely seen this a gazillion times by now. It's a favorite of mine. I love the gold zippers on the sides. And also that I can wash it in the machine.

Jeans: Sneak Peak

Moto jeans! I found these on Zulily and have been waiting to wear them. I feel like moto pants are more a fall/winter thing. I have no idea why I think that. But I'm excited to finally break them out! And yes, those are indeed zippers at the ankles. Awesome 80's pants for the win!

Booties: Sam Edelman

These booties have a backstory. When I was a small child (I think it was first grade in fact) I had a pair of low boots almost exactly like these. They were real suede, and had fringe stepping up the side. The heel was a bit lower than these are obviously because I was a small child, but otherwise they were so similar it's crazy. I LOVED those boots. I wore them every chance I got. I was devastated when I finally outgrew them. And then I saw them at Marshalls a few weeks ago. I was like NO! My favorite boots! But then my favorite boots were $70. At Marshalls. Wahhh. So I didn't get them. I kept thinking about them though, much in the same way you think about that crush you have... I started an internet hunt to try and find my beloved booties in a more reasonable price range. You guys, they were MORE EXPENSIVE on the internet! $120! What? No. Just no. So I went back to Marshall's with my tail between my legs and bought the booties. Because nostalgia my friends. Nostalgia hit hard. But here they are, and I love them.

I have a lot of confessions on Thursday's Threads today it seems... First up is one of them. I have a small obsession with vintage Gucci. (Not a secret.) So one day I was hunting around on Facebook using the search words Gucci, green, and bracelet. (Hey, I know what I like!) And this beauty popped up. It cost a small fortune so I added it to my watch list and proceeded to scour the internet for a cheaper one. To no avail. Long story short, I caved and bought it about 2 weeks later. No regrets! Hey, I haven't horse showed all year. I can blow some money if I want to. (No, actually I can't. But I did anyway.) Also on the wrist is my trusty apple watch.

Righty:

Righty is also sporting some vintage Gucci, but that one was in the $35-$40 range. More my style... The other bracelet is super fun (I loved mixed media jewels!) by Ettika.
