Truthful Tuesday

I don't have anything major to confess today. So instead, I'll just state some random truths.

1. One of the highlights of keeping horses at home is having an unlimited supply of baling twine at my disposable.

2. This guy is stressing me out beyond belief. More on that tomorrow.

3. I keep sending horse videos to my trainer and she doesn't reply to them. But when I follow up, she almost never likes them. This too is stressing me out.

4. There's a SUPER cute horse for me to try in Germany that kind of looks like Eros. It would be fun to have twins!

5. I need a nanny. Not for a child obviously, but like... for me. I need someone who can help me drop my car off to get fixed and things like that. Bonus points if they could horse/dog sit and make my meals. Maybe what I need is a butler?

Anything random facts you'd like to share? Thoughts/feelings on mine?

  1. So I will just say this - my trainer vetoed a lot of horses that I thought were reasonably nice. The horse I ended up buying, which obviously she didn't force me to buy (but I did have pressure from her that I would never find anything nicer for my small budget), ended up being a failure beyond words. A very expensive, heartbreaking failure. So all that is to say that trainer's opinion matters, but you have to love the horse, too. Assuming you aren't asking her to fly across the country, what does it hurt to look even if she doesn't think it's perfect?

    1. I haven't even asked her to go look at anything yet! Likely I'll end up going to Germany with my dad and just pick one out myself. I'll be the one that has to live with it after all! But I've had a few epic fails in the recent past, so I'm trying to get a little help this time.

  2. I also need a nanny/butler. My house is a disaster, my washing machine broke, I leave for Africa in 17 days, and I have a show this weekend. Send help!

  3. I second the need for a butler. I would love one. Of course my husband is good about taking care of the car and chores around the farm.

I sent a lot of videos to my (then) coach and she didn't like any of them. I am not sure what she did like because she never offered any opinions as to what I should buy. In the end I bought the horse I fell in love with (Steele). She was not impressed but at the time had retired from teaching so I figured I could do what I like. I don't regret my choice either.

Can you talk to your trainer? It doesn't sound like she's helping a lot. Does she say why she does't like them?

    1. I think we all could use a butler.
Mine has sent a few videos, but all of horses I can't afford, and that aren't really something I want. Like equitation horses? What does an amateur do with an equ horse? I dunno.
Yeah, there was one that wasn't anything that fancy, but it was a jumper that was safe and could jump clean. But she didn't like the canter, and thought I could find something a little nicer. Another she said looked too fast (it was a hunter). There's always something.

  4. I want a butler too. And also a maid to clean my house, because this place is a mess.

  5. oh man, perhaps one of the most frustrating thing about horse shopping is how everyone likes sliiightly different things. which i guess is maybe a blessing, bc if we all liked the exact same type of horse, the demand would far, far exceed the supply haha. good luck with your searches tho, the germany idea sounds exciting ;)

    1. She's also used to shopping in a different price bracket than I... So that makes a big difference!
      Germany should be fun!

  6. You need a personal assistant not a nanny unless they are supposed to make you healthy snacks too like carrot sticks.
