What's Up Wednesday

This was one of those weeks that was busy with lots of nothing actually going on. I was able to ride everyday except Saturday. It was still productive though. Betty, my car, went in for a long overdue check up and only cost me a small fortune. Could have been worse I suppose. I spent the rest of the day running all sorts of errands and trying to purge my closet some. Keyword: Trying. I think I need to take a week off from life to do that completely.
No mom, I don't WANNA canter!
As for horses, I feel like I'm stuck in a holding pattern with them. Romey and Jamp are both pretty much where we were in the fall. Neither is really sound, but working them doesn't make it better or worse. I'm STILL waiting for the vet to come out, and I'm hoping that's happening Friday so I can start making some plans and decisions for them.
Romey looks pretty cute and fancy in a still shot!
Rio is holding his own. I haven't been riding him much because he hasn't been that into it. He seems to be less happy when it's cold out and damp out, and that's pretty much all we had last week. This week is like summer though, so I'm hoping he perks up and wants to play some more.
He blinked.
In other news, I got this photo the other day:
Those are my Fama Lusitano boots! They should be shipping by the end of the week!!!! I'm stupid excited. They're so pretty! AND I also got notification that my purple boots shipped. The tracking number isn't working  yet though, so I'm not sure what that means... So excited for ALL THE BOOTS!

That's about it from here. What's happening with you? How are your horses? Showing yet? Any big plans coming up?

Truthful Tuesday

I swear I'm a decent horse woman. A crappy rider, yes, but I can take care of a horse. And you know, tack one up without injury to myself or others. Or at least you would think so. You would also think that me being who I am, would always have a supply of band aids in the barn. Well. You'd be wrong in thinking that.

Mondays are always long days. Partially just because they're Mondays, but also because I go to a 5:30 yoga class at my work. It's an hour long, so I don't get home until 7. Fortunately, my horses are used to eating really late, so they handle that just fine. Since the horses had Saturday off due to inclement weather (and their mom needing to do 1000000 things) I didn't want them having Monday off too. By the time I was getting on Romey last night at 9:15, I was a little less focused that I should have been. <<yawn>>

I went to put the bit in his mouth and slid my middle finger between the bars... Only I didn't. Apparently I missed the bars and slid my finger between his teeth. And he bit right down. For awhile. Have I mentioned he's carnivorous?
Try to bite me now Jaws.
I swear I don't really muzzle him... Just when I pick his feet in his stall... and sometimes when I do the girth. Vulture. Anyway, I digress... So I get my finger back which actually isn't all that bad off except for a small cut. Problem with fingers is that even little cuts bleed like crazy. No biggie, I threw the halter over his bridle and tied him back up and went in search of a band aid. Came up empty. Fortunately, I would never be without equine first aid supplies. Found a nice 4x4 and some vet wrap!
I went with red so I wouldn't know if I was bleeding all the way through it. I mean, that's disgusting! Fortunately, by the time I was done in the barn it had stopped hemorrhaging. And I had a nice supply of real bandaids in the house.
So my confession today: I stuck my finger in my horses teeth and have no one to blame but myself.

Do you ever get careless in the barn even though you know that's the worst thing you can ever do? Are you as lax about human first aid items as I am, yet always have a full stocked medicine box for the equine?

Thursday's Threads

It's OUTFIT DAY! And the sun is out which is a very rare occurrence around here lately. Since it looks like Spring (even if it doesn't really feel like it), I wanted to dress for the season.  Scratch that, by the time I finished this post the sun was gone. It was lovely while it lasted though!

In case you couldn't tell, it's officially mint green season. Hope you're ready for it!

Shirt: Tommy Hilfiger
I love the little details on some of the white checks on this shirt. Just a little something extra to make it more fun.

Jeans: KUT from the Cloth
I grabbed these jeans in a flash sale from the now out of business Moxie.style (miss you Moxie!). I love the frayed bottom and that fact that they are super stretchy to accommodate my growing bottom half. (Seriously self, step away from the junk food.)

Belt: Rebecca Ray
I LOVE this metallic belt from Rebecca Ray. Especially the fancy stitching that is reminiscent of a fancy stitched bridle.

Shoes: Sperry
You've seen these a lot. And I can pretty much guarantee you'll see them a lot more too.

Arm Party!
Lefty:
Lefty is sporting this adorable loose ring snaffle bracelet from Spartina along with my trusty apple watch. Spartina can be a bit pricey, but I found this one on sale at Zulily awhile back.

Righty:
Righty is wearing a leather and chain wrap bracelet from Fornash, a galloping pony bangle from Ebay, and a braided leather and brass cuff that I made myself. (And by made, I mean I glued the already braided leather to the already formed bracelet. Crafts for dummies!)

That's what I'm wearing today, but let's also see what I rode in last night!

Yep. That's a big ole' hoody. It was only 51 degrees when I started. Thankfully it didn't drop too much until later in the night.

Hoodie: No idea on brand
I wore my New England Equitation Championships sweatshirt that I got many, many years ago since it was freezing out.

Breeches: Goode Rider
You've seen these brown denim breeches a few times. They're an old favorite, though they are not accommodating my growing size as well as today's jeans are. (SERIOUSLY SELF, enough with the snacks!)

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I grabbed a few more pairs of Derp socks when they were two for $10 recently. You don't know what you'll get, so you can imagine my excitement when I found these green bits in my package! Woohoo!

Helmet: Charles Owen
Charlie here needs no introduction. I have so much love for this helmet.

Jampy wanted to get in on Thursday's Threads this week too!
He's donning a custom baby pad from EC Equestrian and a really fun new pair of boots from SH Equestrian.

How cute are these green polka dot boots?! I was so excited when I stumbled across them online and even more excited when I got to see them in person. So cute! And they fit him just right.

That's what we're wearing today! What do you have on? Any favorites from today?

What's Up Wednesday: The one where I wear many hats. No, literally.

Phew, Wednesday again! Spring is flying by, though no one told mother nature. So freakin' cold here! Despite that, it's been a busy week!
Friday was Cinco de Mayo, which despite my love for Mexican food and Margaritas, I normally do not partake in festivities because, ugh crowded restaurants! But one of my coworkers is leaving for a new job so we decided to have a Cinco de Bye-o celebration for her. I was originally planning on just meeting everyone later for a drink after I rode, but it was pouring buckets outside, so I decided to feed and head right over. Much fun was had, and I was even still home by 11. (I'm so old.)

Unfortunately, my early night was for naught because just as I was about to head to bed, my neighbor heard the familiar screech of tires. Yep. Another car in the woods across the streets.
Fortunately, everyone was ok. But seriously, how does this keep happening?! This is at least the 5th time since I moved here.
Saturday I was supposed to run a 5K. But you know... it was raining when I woke up. So I opted out. #lazyrunner I'm not proud of that. But I'm not really ashamed of it either. Maybe I'll try again soon.
Instead of running, I got to work riding horses once morning chores were done. Jampy was WILD and I wound up having to toss him on the lunge line for a few minutes. Glad I did, there were many antics. Once that was out of his system, he was pretty good, other than spooking at bunnies. Cause you know, killer bunnies in these parts. I planned to take the tall kids out for grass after each of their rides, but I was super lazy about it so I just rode them out to the grass instead of hand grazing. No one seemed to object.

Rio had a lunge since I haven't sat on him in a little bit. He looked great (to the left, to the right... his canter looks great!) I climbed on, but just to walk him out and graze. Rio gets to do whatever Rio wants. And he said he didn't feel like working.

Romes was well behaved too. I really am getting itchy for the vet to get here for him though. I don't have as much love and trust in him, so he actually had a hand graze after we rode.

Next up was a super fun Derby party hosted by Ashley from The Well Dressed Table. I put my money on the underdog Patch, because how could you not? And also on Fast And Accurate who was not so fast. It was super fun, and I enjoyed catching up with some friends over dinner after the race.
This turf table runner covered in ponies and roses was the cutest thing ever!

I wore a hat per the dress code.

Also on Saturday I discovered the snap chat KY Derby filter. You're welcome. Good luck unseeing this:

And then before you knew it, it was Sunday already. I have been behind on absolutely everything since coming back from Florida. And this became a problem this weekend when I was trying to find the time to shop for all the birthdays this weekend! My youngest niece turned 1 on Saturday, the older one turned 4 on Sunday, and my step mom ALSO had a birthday on Sunday. (I'm sure she prefers I not tell you how old she turned.) And I had zero gifts ready to go as of Sunday morning. Thankfully, I know what I'm doing when it comes to shopping.
I stopped first for breakfast because a girl needs her strength for fast paced shopping. Next stop was to the Kate Spade outlet for Step mom. That went a little too quickly because my next stop was to TJ Maxx for the girls, and they didn't open until 11. (Which, by the way, is really inconvenient. I was ready for shopping by 8 am but nothing was open!) Clearly the best option was to stop at the Ralph Lauren outlet. I behaved though, leaving with a dress for my older niece and a charity bracelet ($10) for me. I zipped through TJ Maxx once they were open with some great finds for the girls, and I was home with plenty of time to ride Jamp and Rio. Sorry Romes, you drew the short straw.  Both boys were very good fortunately, because I had no time for naughty ponies (hence Romey not making the cut)! Always time for a selfie with Jamp though. Always.

After ponies I went over to my brother and sister-in-laws to celebrate birthday palooza. My dad and step mom were coming a bit later, so we did present things to start.

I played with all their toys because I'm super mature and grown up. I even tried on Keira's new bike helmet:
It pretty much fit because my head is the size of a pea. Or a 4 year old. Whatever. We played with play doh too. I made a pony:
It's a neon chestnut. Duh.

Cake was super fun, Ellie made a big mess with her smash cake. Anyone else kind of want to just tear into a cake with your bare hands and stuff it in your cake hole? No? Just me? Ok then.
After cake time was home time. I didn't get much of anything done even though I really should have. Such a slacker. One of these days I'll actually unpack and do laundry. This week did not contain that day.

The ponies have been a little up this week with the temperature drop. But no one's died so far, so that's a positive. But my favorite part of the work week so far is my baby plant grew a flower! I grew this thing from a seed which I figured would never grow at all, and it actually grew a pretty flower!
And that's what's up this Wednesday! What's up with you? Do anything fun or exciting over the weekend? Did you wear many hats like I did?

Truthful Tuesday

Um... I've got nothing today. I think I made it a whole week without embarrassing myself! Well, probably not,  but whatever it was must not have been terribly life changing.
Anything you need to confess today? Let's chat in the comments!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day falls on a very special day this year... May the 4th! Star Wars Day! Growing up, my brother was Star Wars obsessed. So as a good sister, I saw all the movies and became a much less fanatical fan myself. While I wouldn't find myself waiting overnight in line for tickets or anything crazy, I do enjoy the franchise. And thus, definitely down to celebrate Star Wars Day. You can probably imagine what that entails if you're me...

I know. I really know how to get in the spirit of things. Wait till you get the closeup experience!

T-shirt: Rock and Republic
Long sleeve T: Old Navy
Sadly it's not warm enough here yet for short sleeves so I had to layer. My mom actually gave me this shirt for Chanukah, and I was pretty excited for it. Bedazzled Darth Vader? Duh. Yes Please!

Jeans: Henry and Belle
These pants are totally bad ass. They're thinner than denim, but are similar to coated jeans. I guess they're like coated cotton? I dunno. Whatever they are, they're stretchy and comfy and have zipper ankles. Bad ass.

Shoes: Irregular Choice

These are potentially the most epic pair of flats that I own. And that's saying something. They're C3PO, covered in glitter, and have these awesome soles. I mean... Do you have more epic shoes that these? If you do, you best email me proof.

Accessories:
Thanks to Zulily and a sub box named Fandom of the Month, I have a pretty fabulous Star Wars themed jewelry collection.
Necklace:
I actually had choices here, (dork alert: level Red) and decided to go with this wire necklace that actually reads Jedi, though it's hard to see in the photo.

Arm party!
Lefty:
Yep, that's Darth there in some rhinestone glory next to my apple watch. They make a good team.

Righty:
It was impossible to get a decent photo of righty today. Too much going on. First up is a wrap bracelet from Fandom of the Month. It reads "The force is strong with this one." Next up is a charm bracelet featuring some of the original cast: Chewy, C3PO, a storm trooper, and of course Darth Vader. The last two bangles feature R2D2 and Luke & Leah respectively.

Ok, enough geeking out, I'm sure what you really came for was last night's riding outfit! So here it is:

It was pretty chilly last night, in the mid 50's with stupid wind. So I had to layer a bit!

Polo and Sweatshirt: Annie's Equestrian

I had actually thought these two pieces were the same plaid, but they're actually not. Oops. Close enough though. Don't tell the fashion police!

Breeches: Ariat
These are oldies but goodies. I think I got them 3 years ago, and they haven't died  yet!

Belt: Burberry
The plaid on the polo short is almost the same as Burberry's! Closer than the sweatshirt is anyway...

Boots: HKM Equestrian
I haven't worn these in awhile, and figured it was a good time to break them out last night. I remembered why I don't wear them much... The foot is a little too big. It's not terrible, but I do wish I had sized down. Jampy wanted to match me, so he wore these awesome front boots from Le Mieux:
I know. We're the most awesome momma-pony duo. That's love my friends.

And that's what I'm wearing this week! What do you have on? Do you celebrate May the 4th?
