Thursday's Threads: 4th of July Edition

Outfit day on a HOLIDAY! My favorite. You all know I love a theme. To be real though, I'm a little worried about America and I'm not sure how festive I'm feeling. So I didn't get too crazy today. We kept it fairly classy. FAIRLY. It's Shiny's turn to model, so let's start with her.

She looks oddly unfestive here which I didn't realize... I guess you need us together to get the actual theme. Maybe next year I'll come up with something more festive for the equine to wear. Anyway... You'll see in the close ups that is wearing blue.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
I felt like the spiked brow band gave firework vibes. Maybe it's a stretch... But I'm going with it!

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Premier Equine
Belly band is from Horze
I'm still really happy with the Premier Equine pads. I wish they'd come out with fun colors again... but specifically like good combos, maybe not so much the crazy combos they had before. But also... like bring back the crazy good prices too. They're stuff is pretty pricey these days.

Boots: Horze
You guys have seen these before. I like them a lot for the horses, but for Shiny, the straps are really long. They work, the velcro isn't too long, but there's a lot of strap left hanging. And you can't really cut it off because of how they're designed. That aside, they're nicely made, and fit well otherwise.

That's what Shiny wore today, and here's what I had on:

There we go. That's more festive! I told you we kept it pretty classy today. Maybe next year we'll get more festive. We'll have to see how things go...

Helmet: One K Avance Mips
I haven't worn this navy hat much lately. I like it with the shiny gold shield.

Top: Ralph Lauren
I thought I had a couple of cute festive tee shirts, but turns out, I only have tank tops. I had to do barn chores this morning since it's a holiday, and I don't really like to do chores in a tank top. I get too itchy. Thankfully I discovered this perfect top in the tee shirt drawer! The Pony is even red!

Belt: Equetech
I wore my pink version of this belt a few weeks ago, and here's the white one. I got this one also in a Forelock and Fringe box, and have been so happy with it. I've had it a couple years now, and it gets a decent amount of use, and still looks lovely which is saying something for a white belt! This one is a bigger size than the pink one though and I had to punch some holes in it.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
Red generally isn't my color, but I like having a red pair of breeches around for Fourth of July and Christmas. I snagged these from consignment since it really didn't make sense to pay full price for pants I wear twice a year.

Boots: Pioneer
Okay, well MAYBE navy and gold isn't really USA colors, but I think the way the gold is painted on these it kind of looks like fireworks. So I'm allowing it. Plus they match the helmet perfectly with the gold shield. I snagged these a year or two ago from the Dressage Boots Addicts Anonymous Facebook group for an absolute steal. They're a little too tall, so I stuck some heel lifts in there and that seems to be working well. They're not even broken in yet, so that kind of makes me not want to wear them a lot. But they were actually feeling pretty good by my last ride today. So maybe I'll use them more. I don't think Pioneer boots are the best quality, but they do have some fun designs.

So that's what we wore today for America's birthday. We stayed on theme without getting too crazy this time. I'm not sure what we're going to wear next week... Any suggestions?

Thursday's Threads: a non horsey version!

When I started Thursday's Threads so many years ago, the focus was on whatever I wore to work that day. It only later became about equestrian fashion. Let's be real, equestrian fashion is way more fun than work clothes. BUT, I don't have a riding outfit to share today for multiple reasons. First, the item I've been waiting for is shipping back and forth across New Jersey for the last week and half and still has not arrived. I thought there'd be a chance it would arrive yesterday so I didn't bother snapping outfit pics yesterday. And then today, it's pouring rain, so riding didn't happen. So this is kind of a throwback to the early days of Amateur at Large with a non horsey outfit! Here's what I'm wearing on this rainy New England day:

Pretty simple. I don't have much on the agenda today other than feeding the horses and doing some clerical stuff, so comfy casual was the way to go!

Top: Ralph Lauren
I like the shoulder detail and the faux leather elbow patches. Makes this otherwise simple tee shirt a little more exciting!

Belt: Sandy Duftler
This olive belt with the rose gold spur buckle was a birthday gift this year from my dad and stepmom. They have great taste!

Jeans: True Religion
True Religion jeans seem to fit me really well, but they're often stupid pricey. Fortunately, there is an outlet near my house so (pre-covid) I was able to stock up on reasonably priced fancy jeans. I like the heavy stitching they do also. I mostly wear breeches all day every day these days, so it's nice to put on a pair of jeans now and then.

Sneakers: Fabletics
I used to be on a test panel for Fabletics and actually got these shoes for free in exchange for testing them out and reporting back on them. They're not sneakers I would use for running, but they're great for walking in, or wearing out in the rain to go visit Pammon in his field. I know that last one for sure since that's what they did earlier today.

So that's it this week. Sorry for no horsey clothes, but hopefully my meandering item will arrive soon and I can show you guys my homage to back to school outfit next week. It's pretty silly, I think you'll all find it entertaining!

Thursday's Threads

I know, it's super late. It was a crazy day at work. Monday on a Thursday, ya know? Yuck. Thursday's threads is pretty weak today, and it's nearly identical to last weeks. Oops.
It's not the exact same shirt as last week... but it's practically the same. Just a different color. Fashion was low on the priority list today I'm afraid.

Top: Ralph Lauren
Last week's was lilac stripes, but this one is blue! So different, right? Ha.

Belt: Mane Jane
Not the best angle to show the color, but this is the navy strap. And yes, I do have a Mane Jane for almost every outfit.

Jeans: True Religion
Nothing too special about these pants, but they're stretchy and comfy! I like the lighter color for summer too.

Shoes: Ariat
You've seen these before too... They are so comfy, I'm sure you'll see them again.

Arm Party!
Lefty:
Left is donning this BEAUTIFUL bracelet I had made by an artist named Celia on Etsy. It's silver, with Jampy's tail braided in the center. There's a gold horse shoe there in the middle, and then the tabs on the ends have gold horse shoes also. I'll share again with better photos another time. It's really gorgeous! Along with Jampy's bracelet, I'm wearing my favorite bit bracelet and my trusty watch.

Righty:
Righty kept it simple today with just my fitbit.

So that's what I wore to work, and here's what I wore to ride tonight:
Blue again!

Helmet: Charles Owen
I wore this sparkler again! This helmet is so cute! I think it might sit up a little high on my head, but it stays put nicely.

Top: Ralph Lauren
Haha! Look familiar?! Yeah, I didn't bother to change my shirt. But I have regrets because Rio spit green slobber all over it. RIP shirt probably...

Belt: Mane Jane
Why yes that IS the same belt I wore to work. And also, it's too big with breeches. I will have to punch another hole, I was too lazy tonight.

Breeches: Ovation
These are just cheapie schooling breeches. But they're quite comfy, and I like the shade of blue.

Boots: DeNiro
True story, I kind of want to collect more of these boots. They're just so ridiculously comfy! AND they're fun. That's a good mix.

Spurs: Centaur
Straps: Mane Jane
I can't get over how close these spur straps are to the boot color. Considering they're entirely different brands, that's impressive. I love the little sparkly crowns too.

And that's it for this week! Nothing too exciting, but not bad considering it's fake Monday. I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday, because I'm ready for the weekend.

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! It's kind of a dreary day here. Supposed to be some weather this evening, so I'm thinking I may go ride Eros and give the kids at home a night in. Nice thing about having an indoor where Eros is! We'll see how the day goes. Anyway, though it's dreary, it's not freezing, which is nice. Should be in the 60's. Not warm, but not too cold. So long sleeves it is! Also, I was running super late this morning and totally forgot to grab outfit photos. So these are... interesting.
Me in my work environment. #deskjob
Long sleeves, but no socks. Cause it's springtime now.

Top: Ralph Lauren
I bought a few of these button down shirts last year at the outlet. They were super on sale, and I just love them! They're knit, so they don't wrinkle that easily, and they have plenty of give to them. Big fan of the lilac color too.

Belt: Mane Jane
I don't have a lilac belt strap. I should probably work on that situation. So I went with this cream colored one since that's basically a neutral. And added the rose gold buckle because pink and purple work.

Jeans: Lucky Brand
Stretchy, light colored denim. Perfect.

Shoes: Sperry
These are a little darker than the top. I do think I have a pair that matches better, but as I said earlier, I was running super late. And these were accessible. Good enough!

Arm Party!
Lefty:
Lefty kept it pretty simple with this Hermes bracelet and the apple watch. These little clasps came with two straps each, and I didn't think I'd wear this white one. But here it is!

Righty:
I had to have some sparkle somewhere, obviously. Righty is donning the fitbit in front. The middle is a wrap bracelet and the last is a cuff. I made those two awhile back. Love me some glitter!

I also have a riding outfit to share! AND it's from riding at my HOUSE! So excited to get back to my old normal.

Do you see Rio back there?
I wore this Tuesday. It was a beautiful evening, but breezy. And that breeze was CHILLY. So more long sleeves. And also... yes, blue again!

Helmet: Charles Owen Elumenayr
I was never that happy with the fit of my navy Charles Owen Jr8. Just after the holidays Carousel Tack had these eLumenAyr helmets super on sale, so I decided to replace the old sparkly blue helmet. I really like this one! You can't see it in the photo, but it has an interesting clasp on the harness. Seems very secure.

Top: Ariat

I was really into the Ariat tops with bits on them. I think I own all the different ones they made last year. This one is great because I can wear it to work too. Also it has elbow patches which is super cute.

Belt: Mane Jane
I went with the navy belt strap to match the bits on the top. And that's the gunmetal buckle, which matches the breeches pretty nicely.

Breeches: Equine Couture

I have mixed feelings about these pants. I love the bit and ribbon detail there on the bum. And they are super soft, like a knit material. But they run pretty small, and I feel like a stuffed sausage in them. I probably should have sized up. They stay put though, so that's nice!

Boots: DeNiro
So real talk  here. I dug out a new pair of Regals to use until I can get the zipper fixed on the broken pair, and they gave me a blister! Can you believe it? Regals?! So rude. So I needed to go with the most comfy boots in the closet while that heals itself up. Which is definitely these. But they're also so cute, so I'm sure you all don't mind seeing them frequently.

So that's it for today! Any favorites? What are you wearing?

Thursday's Threads

Happy Outfit day everyone! You should be SO PROUD of me because I remembered to get pics of my riding outfit this weekend, knowing I would likely be rained out this week. So let's start there!
What an unflattering pose. Lol. I forgot to grab a photo of my helmet, but I wore the green Charles Owen with this outfit.

Jacket: Skidmore College
It was hot in the indoor we went to, so I didn't actually wear this to ride, but since I had it on most of the day otherwise I figured I'd include it. I got this one at reunion in 2017. I love the color, and it is super soft and warm. Fleecy jackets, though annoying because hay and stuff sticks to them, are my favorite. They're comfortable to move around in, and you can throw them right in the washer and dryer.

Shirt: Ariat
You guys have seen this one before, last time with a brown puffy vest. It wasn't quite vest weather, so it got to stand alone this time.

Belt: Sandy Duftler
I have two of these, a black and a brown from Sandy Duftler. I thought they were just knock-offs of the Ralph Lauren belt that's like $800 but then I saw the name on the inside and was like OHHH! The spur belt lady! I think I like this design better with a side zip breech, but it did the job here too.

Breeches: The George Morris Collection
These really seem to fit better than a lot of the other JPC brands. Not sure why. But I like them! Doesn't hurt that they're my barn colors. I should probably get a second pair.

Boots: Regals
One of these days I'll get back to breaking in boots. But in the meantime, it's pretty much all Regals all the time.

So that's what I wore to ride this weekend. Now let's see what I have on today!

Yeah... that's a lot of denim. It's cute denim though!

Top: Ralph Lauren
This top was mega on sale in the clearance section at the outlet, and I thought it was super cute. I'm not sure why, but it screams fall to me. I've always had a thing for bandana prints. And snap buttons.

Belt: No brand
I'm not exactly sure what search led me to this belt on ebay... but once I saw it, I had to own it. Who doesn't need a horse's ass belt?! Plus the western-y belt seemed to work with my bandana print today.

Jeans: Mavi
Just your basic dark wash blue jeans here today. Super stretchy. Super comfy.

Shoes: Rocket Dog
The same day I got the shirt I also stopped in the Tommy Hilfiger outlet. And they had the cutest bandana shoes on sale. Unfortunately, not in my size. So I took to the interwebs and found these Rocket Dog sneakers. So comfy. And yes, I'm actually wearing socks today. Boo.

Arm Party!
Lefty:
I made this wrap bracelet quite awhile ago. Originally I wanted to use that fabric for one of the horse head bracelets, but it was too thick to fit. It looks nice on its own though!

Righty:
I think this little denim stack was one of my first horse head creations. They're both actually a hair too big, but hey, I was a rookie then!

That's it for today! Any favorites? Bandana print: yay or nay?
