Truthful Tuesday: The one with the new beginning

So I was planning to post a hilarious story about how my "County" saddle I got for Shiny is actually a Custom Saddlery saddle. True story. I totally made up that it was a County. No one ever suggested that. Lol. Whatever it is, it fits her and she likes it so it's fine.

It's the widest thing I've ever seen.

(But if you know anything about them, would love to know more! Like, are they decent saddles? Or does my little backyard pony really just love cheap stuff?) So anyway, that's that story.

But my real news today is that my "position was eliminated" at my job today... so I'm fun-employed now. I knew it would happen eventually. If you've been around awhile, you know that I work for a company that my Dad built, and I was a partner in. We sold 5 years ago and I stayed on. I was the last of the family to remain. I went from being a partner that helped out in many different roles (my main gig was sales though) to being sales/customer service. My title was then downgraded to solely customer service but they weren't able to cut my pay because of my contract. So I was massively overpaid for my role. To be fair, my actual duties never changed, just my title... so good luck to everyone taking over my stuff!

So... that's it. I have no real life plan so I guess I should start thinking about that stuff. I'm regretting my impulse buying three new pads from Premier Equine this weekend (they brought back the wool pads in new colors... and one is GREEN!) but whatever. I got an okay severance package so I can still afford them.

Fear not though, Thursday's threads will be plenty entertaining in the weeks to come. I have plenty of stuff you all haven't seen yet. And I'll just have to work "fun outfits" into my budget plan moving forward. I mean, clearly, I have my priorities straight!

    2. They weren't interested in what I knew anyway, so they lost out on that awhile ago!
They are really nice! I don't love the orange on it, but the green is a beautiful shade!

  5. Oh man, sorry to hear that. M&A is so frustrating, and I feel like good people often get screwed. Here's hoping the next role is way better!

    1. Yeah, I think I'm the first casualty of this second acquisition. For my former coworkers' sakes I hope I'm the last! I'm hearing that a lot of people still there are feeling very insecure about their positions after this.

  6. That is so frustrating :(
I was also "removed from my position" back in December - it absolutely sucked. I hope you can find something bigger and better <3

  8. Custom Saddlery has reps and builds custom saddles, much like County. However, they have many more dressage models than they do jumping models. I think like any custom brand, the saddle is as good as the fitter, but overall I think they're good quality.

Glad to hear the PE wool pads are back and in green! I love the one I have.

So sorry to hear about your job. I hope a bigger and better opportunity comes along for you soon. In the mean time....extra horse time sounds like a good way to fill your days.

    1. I just cleaned and conditioned the saddle today, and it's a lot nicer than I even realized. Kind of excited about it!
The extra horse time has already been amazing!

  9. I am sorry that happened I remember in October when it happened to Mark it is quite a shock. Same with him decent severance but still it is so insulting he felt really bad about it for a few days. Onward and upwards. If you are interested in remote stuff I have some links on some places I have been looking at jobs. You may find a better gig (here is hoping)!! Also yay on finding a saddle that fits your wide load. I feel your pain there too :)

    1. Thank you! I'm going to be a slacker for a few weeks, but I may take you up on that! Definitely would prefer a remote position for the future. My quality of life improved dramatically when I made that switch last year.

  10. So sorry to hear this but a silver lining? It's the beginning of spring so if you can take a bit of time between gigs, you have plenty of light and warmth in the really near future for pony and pug times!

  11. Custom Saddlery saddles are very well made, and quite popular. You got a good one. Sorry about the job, but hopefully you will find something very quickly.
