What's Up Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday all! It's been all kinds of summery here despite summer unofficially ending on Monday. We're in the midst of our 3rd heat wave this year. And I love it! Seriously. Especially since I'm heading to Yankee Stadium this afternoon to see some baseball. Yay for half days at work!

I didn't have any horse shows this weekend, nor any real plans to speak of. I didn't even realize it was Labor Day Weekend until last Wednesday. Seriously, where does the time go? Since I don't have a ton to report on, here are some photos of the tall kids being adorable:

.

Since I'm now qualified for New England Finals, that means we need to buckle down and get to work. The rest of my jump order arrived last week, so this weekend I changed the course in the ring AND bought new flowers for the jumps. I'm waiting for all the Halloween stuff to come out so I can decorate a little more. I'm thinking a graveyard jump will be fitting. Here's the new look in my arena:

And even though you probably aren't as excited as I am, next are pictures of each newly decorated jump!

It got dark so the pictures aren't great. But cute right?! The horses all think some terrorist has taken over the ring though. Hopefully they'll adjust soon.

I've shown you all the view from my office window (if you didn't see it, visit  yesterday's Truthful Tuesday post). But now I can show you the view from within the maze! The neighboring farm uses our land to plant a sunflower maze each fall, and this year they gave us some free passes to walk through it. I went after work on Friday. It was cute! Check it out:

The path! All the flowers face the sun, so from some angles you only see the backs.

So pretty!

They give you a paper and pen on your way in. On the paper is a list of questions. Hidden within the maze are podiums with some information and answers to the questions. Supposedly the maze this year is shaped like a butterfly, so the questions were all about them! I didn't find two of the podiums, but I was in a little bit of a hurry. It's a cute idea, and I think would be really fun to take your kids and hunt for the answers. At the end you can turn in your sheet for a chance to win a gift certificate to the farm store. You also get the "You survived the sunflower maze" sticker.

The short kids haven't been spending much time out doors since it's been hot and I've been preoccupied with ponies. But we set aside some play time in the yard. They had a blast. They really are hilarious.

That's pretty much all I've been up to lately. Doesn't really look like much in print does it? But I feel like I've been busy... If anyone actually knows where the time goes, please let me know so I can take some back!
What have you been up to? Do anything fun for the long weekend?

    1. Thank you! That birch jump is actually made of plastic, can you believe it? Hoping the plastic ones will survive the elements a little better than the wooden ones have.

Your haunted course sounds so cool! What a great way to decorate.

    1. Aw thanks! The shorties just crack me up constantly! That Artie and his hanging out on his back!
Halloween has the best decorations in terms of decorating jumps. I can't wait to waste all my money on decor!
Christmas would have great decorations too probably, but I'm Jewish so that would be awkward. Plus I only have the outdoor ring, and everything is frozen then, so I wouldn't be able to jump them!
