Thursday's Threads: Halloween Edition

Outfit Day! We got rained out today, but I made sure to get outfit day photos earlier in the week just in case. And we went full ridiculous for this Halloween edition. Shiny is our model this week and here's what she was wearing:

That's right. We brought back the candy corn! It's been several years since we've used this outfit, so I thought it was time to bring it back.

Bridle: M.Toulouse
I got these bridles ages ago, and almost sold them, but then just decided to keep them for this outfit. These browbands don't have snaps, so it's nice not to have to change them onto one of my other bridles when I want to use them.

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: The Riders Closet (Etsy)
Half Pad: Ippico
It's kinda fun seeing a Butet on Shiny. One that fits her I mean. It's amazing the difference a saddle can make. Her old one was fine, but I could never use my whole leg on her. But now I can! And it's making a huge difference in our flatwork.

Boots: Horze
I decorated these with Duct tape awhile back and it's still hanging on just fine! Duct tape is the best.

That's what Shiny's wearing this week, and here's what I had on:

All the orange and yellow. ALL OF IT!

Helmet: One K
Yep, also duct tape on here. I'm telling you, that stuff rules.

Quarter Zip: Dover Saddlery
Tee shirt: Walmart
I got this fabulous candy corn colored unicorn shirt from the children's section at Walmart a couple years ago and then promptly forgot about it. But I rediscovered it and knew it was time to bring back the candy corn look for our Halloween edition this year. It was cold this week though, so I had to layer it.

Belt: C4
Matches my duct tape perfectly! Ha! Love it!

Breeches: Vestrum
I like the Vestrum breeches, but they're pretty pricey. Unless you happen to find ridiculous colors that you like and then you can grab them really cheap on closeout. I also have a yellow pair which I wore for Halloween last year when I was Winnie the Pooh.

Boots: TuffRider Regal
Yes, duct tape details. AND duct tape spur straps. I've been wearing them all week and they're fine! Perhaps I should stop buying spur straps and just use duct tape exclusively.

Bonus photo because at some point I wrapped an old crop with the duct tape too and it's too fun not to share.

That's it for this week! Do you prefer my crazy candy corn getup or an actual Halloween costume? I don't have a costume this year anyway, but what do you prefer for next year?

Thursday's Threads: Halloween Edition

OUTFIT DAY! It's technically the last one at home, but I shot a few extra outfits to share in the coming weeks before I bore with you a lot of navy. Today though, we're sharing our Halloween outfits. I've done candy corn year after year for awhile because I have all the stuff and it should get used once a year. But I needed a break from it this year. Despite making a candy corn jump... maybe that was bad planning on my part. Anyway... Since it's a holiday edition, I'm sharing everyone's outfit since they were all a little different. I'll start with my outfit though, and get that out of the way first.

Here's what I had on:

Spiderwebs! And spiders... can't really have one without the other. This all happened because awhile back I was placing an order overseas and wanted to get the most bang for my shipping cost. And I found this crop:
Which led to lots of arts and crafts so we would have a nice outfit to match it. (Yes, I know, I'm not normal. But I am fun!) Anyway... I crafted most of the horses' outfits, but Shiny's happened to go on sale a few days before Halloween and I couldn't resist. So her's was mostly purchased.

Helmet: Samshield
I know I've been wearing this a lot. But it really worked with the outfit!

Sweater:Unbranded
This wasn't the first sweater I chose, but the other one got lost in transit and then was out of stock. I like this one though, so all's well that ends well.

Belt: Designer inspired

I was certain I had a C4 spiderweb belt, but evidently I was incorrect. So I wore this designer inspired one instead.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
The only appropriate pants for this outfit is black pants. Obviously.

Boots: DeNiro
These boots are breaking in nicely, and might actually be the only pair I own that's actually the correct height. I always get a giggle when I can wear things marked tall as at 5'2" I am definitely not that.

That's what I had on, so let's see what the horses were wearing. We'll go in alphabetical order and start with Al.
He can be a handful, but he is nice to look at!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow band: Home made
Bonnet: Woof Wear, embellished by me

They all had identical brow bands, and I have a close up of Shiny's so you'll see it better in a little bit. I've been having fun making silly brow bands with giant wooden children's beads and nylon webbing. The options are endless!

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
I had the hardest time getting fabric for the boots (and bonnets). It took me three separate orders to finally have this one show up. But turns out, it was the best one since it's pretty much the same as my sweater.

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Ogilvy, embellished by me
Half Pad: Ippico
I am sorry I didn't snap a close photo of the trim, but it's really cute little spiders with great big eyes. They look very friendly and not at all spooky.

Next up is Eros! Here's what he wore:

I somehow did not notice he was standing with fence rail shadows all over him... but hey, that works with Halloween right? Shadows are scary!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow band: Home made
Bonnet: Woof Wear, embellished by me

He's actually wearing the same bonnet as Al. But I do have a third one, I just forgot to bring it out with me that day. So they had to share. It happens!

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me

I did remember boots for everyone though! Seriously, how cute are these?

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Ogilvy, embellished by me
Half Pad: Ippico
Eros' pad has spiderweb trim. SPOOKY!

Next up is Shiny!
Her outfit is ridiculous in all the best ways. I mean look at it. LOOK AT IT! The spider! I was mildly disappointed when it arrived and it was white if we're being honest. It looked gray on the website. But then I put it on her, and it's perfect.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow band: Home made
Bonnet: Tack of the Town

See the brow band?? Isn't it silly?! I love they came out. And that bonnet is hilarious. I wasn't sure it would fit her since it's a horse size, but I think it would be too small on my full size horses. Maybe it's mis-sized. Or maybe her head is huge... (It kind of is. She gets her head from the quarter horse side.) Anyway, it came with the pad, and they were both only offered in one size.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me

I love my interchangeable boots. They're so fun and easy to change around.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Tack of the Town
Seriously. It's the silliest thing ever. But I love it. I loved it as soon as I saw it on Instagram, but I resisted temptation because I'm trying not to buy so much stuff. But then it went on sale and well... I'm not good at resisting a good sale. So here it is, and I'm zero percent sorry.

And that's finally it for Halloween Outfit Day! Did you miss the candy corn, or did you also enjoy a little change of pace for once?

Thursday's Threads: Halloween Edition

I'm sharing my Halloween outfit today! You're probably all getting a little tired of my candy corn theme every Halloween, but listen... I own all this stuff and I intend to keep using it. So likely, it will be candy corn theme for years to come. Sorry. Anyway, here's what we wore this week!

I think next year I want to get a new pad for Shiny and sell that one. I'll have to keep my eyes out for a replacement.

Bridles: M Toulousse
I had found these bridles on sale a few years ago, and then didn't really like them that much. So I was planning to sell them, but instead they were relegated to our Halloween bridles. The browbands I decorated myself, but they are originally the ones that came with my La Cense bitless bridles.

Saddles:
Eros- Butet, Shiny- Custom Saddlery
Halfpad:
Ippico
Saddle Pads:
Both of their pads were handmade from small businesses, but I have to apologize because I have no idea what stores they are from. Both are several years old at this point.
Shiny's pad was advertised as a jump pad, but it's not. It's shapped more for a dressage saddle, and probably would fit a 16" best. Clearly it's too small for this saddle!

Boots: Equinavia (formerly known as Horze)

This roll of candy corn print duct tape is probably the most useful roll of tape I've ever owned. I used it to decorate these boots and also my own boots. And my stick... You'll just have to keep reading to see everything I've used it for.

So anyway, that's what the horses wore! And here's what I had on:
I got lucky and we had a warmish day on Sunday for Halloween. So I got to wear a super cute long sleeve tee instead of a hoodie.

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS
Yep, you are correct. That is the duct tape on the helmet. This is the one you normally see with the rose gold accents. But for Halloween I popped those out and used plain black with a candy corn top.

Top: Southern Hound
I found this last year via a google search, and had to have it! I mean, a candy corn patterned Pug?! Yes please.

Belt: C4
Honestly, I don't know what it is about candy corn pattern that I love so much. I'm not like super into eating candy corn. I mean, I like it fine, but only a few pieces. It's a lot. But this pattern is just so cute to me! I was super excited a few years back when C4 made a belt with it. Had to have it.

Breeches: Dover Wellesley 9000
Awhile back I found these glass candy corn beads but they were only available in bulk, so I wound up with a LOT of them. I made some bracelets, but still had a bunch left over. So then I had the brilliant idea to decorate some breeches with them. And well... I kind of love how they turned out! I lined the front pockets and then did all of the belt loops. Hopefully they survive the washer and dryer.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
Shoes: Amazon
Dreamers and Schemers made me stupid happy when they had these socks available. They also made gaitors and masks which I bought because I have no self control. Thankfully, I don't need to use either of those when riding at home. But I am prepared just in case!

Boots: Tuffrider Regals
This pair of boots is old, and was going to be tossed, until I decided to decorate them with duct tape. And now they will live on for years to come as my Halloween boots. I realized something was missing though... spur straps! So I made these with the duct tape too. Seriously. You can make literally anything out of duct tape. ANYTHING!

Stick: unbranded
Funny story about this stick. First off, it was really ugly. It was like beige and black and in really rough shape. I found it a million years ago when I was moving into a stall at a horse show. Someone had left it behind, probably because it was passed it's prime. I held onto it as a spare for many years. And then decided to bring it new life with the duct tape. I think it's fun!

Watch Band: Amazon
I had to. Sorry. Couldn't help it.

Pia joined in the fun too!
Her outfit is from Target and her collar I think came from Amazon. I forget, I got it last year.

And that my friends, is every possible item of candy corn I could come up with to share. I'll be putting the candy corn away until next year.
