My New Favorite (horse) Thing

Do you remember when I was so excited about my Tuffrider cooler/fly sheet combo? This one:
No? Well I was. I thought it was the best thing to come out in horse clothing since forever. And I still like it. And will use it lots. In case you can't tell by that terrible photo above, it's a mesh fly sheet with a quilted cotton section that goes over the back and across the chest to keep the horse warm, but not too warm. It really is lovely.
But I found a PRETTY version of it! Meet the Horze Crescendo Holbrook Mesh/Fleece Blanket:
It has a very long name. Anyway, it's not perfect in that it doesn't come in hunter green. But it's available in brown and navy which are nice enough colors. I went with brown since some of my things have brown piping and none of my horse things are navy.
Here are some photos of it up close:

Some interesting and different things about this sheet: the tail cord is covered in a thick rubber tube. At first I was not sure how I felt about that. But then I realized how easy it will be to wipe it of if it gets pooped on and decided that was a great idea. The surcingle is completely separate so you can opt whether or not to use it. The mesh is finer, and the fleece part is much softer than the Tuffrider version.
This sheet is not going to be durable. You're not going to leave them alone in a stall with it on, or let them wear it for turnout. But it's perfect for grazing after a bath, or wearing to the ring at a horse show on a spring or fall day. I got one for each of my horses since they are relatively inexpensive as compared to something custom. I paid $49.95 each from the Horze website.
All the boys look pretty handsome in it! Or at least the boys at home do. GTO has to wait until he comes north to try his on.

What do you think of it?

    1. I seriously love it. I will probably lock them in my trailer so I don't ruin them.
