Thursday's Threads: Peeps Edition

Outfit Day! And it's a fun one. Two holiday weeks in a row! Which is good, because I'll probably forget to do Thursday's Threads next week... Just being real. It's about to get a lil' crazy here for a few days. Anyway, EVERYONE is modeling today, so buckle up. Also, this was our Easter Sunday look this year.

Something I really like about this barn is that they do have staff on holidays so nothing is different for the horses. I'm all for giving staff a holiday off, especially if they're full time barn workers who likely work insane hours all the time. But here, most of the staff is part time so it's not as inhumane to request work on a holiday. I've been at barns that didn't clean stalls on a holiday and didn't turnout. One barn even didn't feed morning grain. I'll never complain about the horses staying in or having a dirty stall once for a holiday at a place where the staff is always above and beyond otherwise. But the not feeding a meal, or skipping supplements/meds because it's too much work is pretty terrible.
The other thing I like is that everyone thought our silly outfits were fab and they seem to enjoy when I let my weirdness hang out all over. Which is good, cause I'm weird, and it's gonna show.

Bridles: Joseph Sterling
Brow Bands: Home made by me
Bonnets: Woof Wear, embellished by me
Headbands: Peeps brand

I forgot Al's bunny head band. He DID have one, I just failed to put it on him. Terrible mother, though likely he didn't notice anyway.

Saddles: Eros and Al have Butet and Shiny's is the Brockamp bareback pad
Saddle Pads: Shiny and Eros have Ogilvy and Eros has a brand I can't recall...
Half Pads: Eros' is Le Mieux and Al's is built into his pad

Full disclosure, Eros and Shiny shared the same pad this time. I didn't have enough peeps ribbon to make a third pad.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me

Eros wore boots instead of polos this day because I don't have interchangeable polos for him... Yet! But I am going to fix that very soon.

So that's what the horses wore for Easter, and here's what I had on:
Top to bottom peeps! All the weird, all over. And yes, I actually do enjoy a peep now and then. I'll never understand how a sugar covered marshmallow could be disliked.

Helmet: One K Avance CCS MIPS
I fell short with the hat and boots. Completely forgot to grab my gray one with the purple accents and also forgot to grab my lavender boots. I'll do better next year.

Sweatshirt: Fun.com
This was advertised as a sweater, but at a suspiciously low price, so when it arrived and was a sweatshirt I was disappointed, but not surprised. It certainly does the job either way.

Belt: C4
This belt is one of my favorite things, especially because it has Peeps chicks on it rather than the bunnies. I really can't explain it, but I prefer the chicks to the bunnies.

Breeches: RJ Classics
I as torn between these breeches and another pair I have that matches the trim on the shirt. I went with these, but maybe next year we'll try the others and see which is cutest. Probably with the lavender boots the other breeches will look better.

Socks: Dreamers And Schemers
Shoes: Healies x Peeps
I got the socks last year when D&S did some really cute Easter themed socks. And actually most of this stuff we've had at least since last year. But I did irresponsibly source two new things this year. The first was the sweatshirt, and the other was these sneakers. I found a coupon code though, and since they're children's sneakers, they weren't very expensive. So I'm not too mad at myself for the little splurge. Plus, how cute are the bunny tongues?? These are Healies sneakers, so you can actually install a wheel underneath and roll around on them. But I'm old with a bad knee, so I doubt I'll be doing that.

And that's it for today! Any favorites? Are you Peeps fan or foe? Even if you're a foe, you have to admit that they are ADORABLE!

Thursday's Threads: Peeps Edition

I don't celebrate Easter, but I do think that holiday has the best candy. And while I don't think Peeps are anywhere near the best candy, I do think they're the CUTEST candy. So it was a no brainer to dress the horses up in a peeps outfit. Since it was a holiday, everyone participated so we have lots of photos this week. But I only managed one mounted photo, so here is a singular representation of what we wore this week:

I mean... pastel everything right??

I'm going first this week. Here's what I wore:

I always think these boots and breeches match better than they actually do. But really, does it even matter?

Helmet: One K
I almost forgot I had this helmet! One thing I miss about having the horses home is easy access to my ridiculous helmets and boots.

Sweatshirt: Target
There is a surprising shortage of peeps clothes out in the wild. Well. There are some t-shirts. But it's rarely t-shirt weather around here for Easter. But I think this hoodie is pretty cute, and certainly did the job!

Belt: C4
I asked my mom for this for my birthday last year. Some of these silly outfits take awhile to put together!

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
I got these second hand last year or the year before maybe? I had hoped they were the same color as my boots, but they aren't quite. Close enough though.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I couldn't resist the peeps socks. I might have also invested in the Good Egg socks too which have little eggs all over that look like Cadbury eggs. I told you, Easter has the best candy! (And socks, apparently.)

Boots: Celeris UK
I think these have finally stopped bleeding color out onto my saddle! Yay! Maybe now I'll finish breaking them in.

So that's what I had on for Easter, and here is what the horses wore:

Don't worry, you'll see better below.

Headbands: Peeps
Bridles: Joseph Sterling
Brow bands: Home Made by me! (Beads from Etsy)
Bonnets: Woof Wear, Embellished by me (Patches from Etsy)

I don't want to brag... But I think this set up is the cutest ever. Definitely a win.

Shiny's Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Shiny's Pad: I can't remember the brand on this one... it's OLD! Embellished by me
Eros' and Al's saddles: Butet
Eros' and Al's Half Pad: Le Mieux
Eros' and Al's baby pad: Ogilvy, embellished by me

It was harder than I expected to find Peeps ribbon. But I found it! Thanks to Etsy.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me

These interchangeable boots have really come in handy for ridiculous outfit days. I was unsuccessful sourcing Peeps fabric, but I DID find Peeps pet bandanas. They worked just fine for these straps!

So... what do you think?? Peak ridiculousness? How do you feel about Peeps? Gross, but adorable? Tasty AND adorable? Do you prefer the bunnies or the chicks? I prefer the chicks. I think the sugar to marshmallow ratio is spot on with the chicks.

Truthful Tuesday

Okay, well first off I have to admit to something... I like eating Peeps. Yep, those sugar coated marshmallow treats. Some people say they're gross. I think they're delicious. But that's not really my confession. My confession is that I actually have a preferred peep shape. I much rather the little chicks than the bunnies. And like, not just for eating. Peeps stuffy toy? Gotta be the chick, don't want that bunny. But what's really odd about this is that if we're talking actual animals, my preferences are the opposite. I'd much rather hang out with a bunny than a chicken. Odd.

What about you? Do you have a Peeps preference, or just like anti peeps entirely?
