Thursday's Threads

 

Outfit Day! I didn't ride today because it's been raining non stop since 9pm yesterday. (That's a full 13 hours at this point.) And the high was only 51 degrees today. I'll ride in the rain... but not when it's this cold! BUT, fear not, as I planned ahead and took outfit photos yesterday. Eros was our model this week. Here's some of what we had on:

Our theme this week was brown and rose gold. I think rose gold's moment is kind of over, but I'm still here for it. So expect to still see it happening over here!

Here's what Eros was wearing this week:

He's still a work in progress, but I really think I see a summer bod starting to show up under that dad bod! 

Bridle: Winner Special

This was my super inexpensive Italian bridle that I actually love. Although, I'm generally not a fan of buckles for the big ends of things. (I like the little hidden hooks personally.) But I make an exception for this one, because the hardware matches the clinchers and that's super fun. 

Saddle: Butet

I really can't believe the difference in how this saddle feels with just the tiniest of shims in the back. It even looks more level. What a relief!

Polos: Catago

I loved that pair of tan Catago wraps so much, I snagged a pair in brown when they were on sale. I'd like to get a black pair soon too. They're on sale at Tack of the Day this weekend, so it could happen!

So that's what Eros was wearing, and here's what I had on:

Yeah. It was cold out yesterday too. I had on this sweater and two layers under it and I kinda wished I'd had a vest too. Funny how quickly we get used to the warm weather!

Helmet: One K

I still long for a premium Samshield in brown. But until that happens, I'm pretty happy with this helmet. 

Sweater: Rock and Roll Cowgirl

I bought this sweater in a different lifetime when I had an office to go to everyday. And then I stopped having that and I never wore it. So instead of letting it sit around, it is now a barn sweater! Maybe not exclusively, but for this week anyway.

Belt: I forget the brand...

I cannot recall the brand on this belt, though I think a few different companies offered something similar. I got this one in a Forelock and Fringe box. Love the rose gold bling!

Breeches: Equiline

I think it was last year that I went on the hunt for new brown and rose gold breeches. I was pretty set on trying to find the ones from Samshield at a better price which proved fruitless. But then I found these Equilines for a reasonable price (from Riders House) and decided they were way cuter than the Samshield ones anyway. I love the details on these!

Boots: Imperial Riding

I think I'm finally admitting defeat on these and will probably sell them. I will replace them with the correct size though! I love the boots! Just not that these are still too tall even with the heel risers in there. They're pretty though! 

And that's it for today! Are you pro or anti rose gold? What about brown? When I was a kid, my barn I grew up riding at had tan and brown as their farm colors which I really wasn't a fan of back then. (How times have changed...) I mean, it was the 80's and 90's when color was everywhere! But my trainer liked dirt colors. Eww. Now that I'm a solidly middle aged woman, I embrace the dirt colors. But I do like my green to brighten them up.

Blogger was actually working nicely for awhile, but we're back to struggle bus city with inserting photos... It just took me an hour to get that header image on here... ANYWAY! Happy Outfit Day! I chose brown and rose gold for today's outfit and Eros was excited to model because he's basically rose gold colored on his own. I'll let him go first since he's cuter than me.

I mean really. Look at him. He's filthy, and yet still looks that good. Dad bod and all. 

Bridle: Winner Special

I had this bridle on the blog recently, and was singing its praises, and I still feel that way. I have noticed a little bit of cracking on the noseband on this one, but honestly for what I paid, I'm not mad about it. Also, I maybe should get some oil on it... so that might be on me.

So funny story... I forgot I had done this pad up like this. I went to grab the one you've all seen before with the studs on it, but then I saw this in the bin and was like THAT'S SO CUTE! So I grabbed it for today. The bits are rose gold and the green is my logo. It didn't photograph nearly as cute as it is in real life. Also, could this pad be any closer to Eros' color? It's like camouflage on him!

Wraps: Eskadron

These rundown wraps come in a pack of four, but the elastic over wraps are sold by the pair, which is odd to me. But I didn't mind really because then I got to buy two different colors. You've seen the green ones a few times, but I also got these brown ones. I still would like to get a few other color options for both, but it's not in the budget at the moment. Maybe E will get some for Chanukah this winter.

It was pretty chilly here today, just in the 60's. So long sleeves it was! 

Helmet: One K Defender

I'm a little sad they don't make a wide brim brown helmet anymore. But this one is nice and it was cloudy today so no need for extra sun protection anyway.

Top: Luyaa

I love these tops from Amazon. They're identical to the TKEQ Kennedy shirts but like 1/3 the cost. I would bet that they are made in the same factory. 

Belt: HY Equestrian

I actually think this belt came in one of my Forelock and Fringe boxes, but I'm not positive. It's by HY Equestrian, which is a fun company that makes really cute things for horses and people. Dogs too. Seriously, the European brands are way more fun than most of what we have here. Though in the case of this belt, Equine Couture makes a similar one. 

Breeches: Equiline

You guys have seen these before. And I might have told you this story already. But I was trying to find the Samshield breeches that were brown and rose gold but not for full price because I don't wear $350 pants. During my hunt, I stumbled across these on sale. And liked them better anyway. They were a great find!

Boots: Imperial Riding

Imperial Riding is a really fun brand. Do you guys remember my silver mirror boots? I haven't worn them in awhile (fear not, I still have them!), so you may not. But they are the same brand. Actually, they're basically the same boot just a different color. I had seen these awhile ago, and truthfully, I purchased them quite awhile ago, but I haven't ridden in them until today. Why you ask? Well. They're a bit loud for the boarding barn for starters. But also the size... So I found them for a STEAL but the sizes were limited at the sale price. According to the size chart, these should be too tall for me (and they are a bit) but the calf looked to be correct. So I went ahead and ordered and figured I could stick some heel lifts in there to make the height work. I was right about that part. I was also right about the calf width, but alas, they sent me the wrong width. The box was labeled correctly, but the boots are stamped slim. (I'm a solid regular, sometimes wide depending on brand.) I got them from Europe so wasn't about to ship them back. Figured I could always sell them, or maybe I could make them work since they're lace ups. And they do work! I had to open the laces a bit so they look a little funny straight on. But not too bad. 

Anyway, the sizing is actually going to be fine, but I had put off riding in them because when boots are tall and tight they are a beast to break in. But it's time. Because they're so pretty. Plus, once I break these in, I can sell the Mountain Horse ones that are basically the same aesthetic. Or maybe I'll make those MH ones my beater boots next winter. We'll see. 

So that's what Eros and I wore today! I really enjoy brown and rose gold together. What do you guys think? Good color scheme? What are your favorite colors for your horse(s)?

Outfit Day! I planned ahead and took outfit pics yesterday because I knew we weren't going to get to ride today. We had a lot less rain today than we did yesterday, but the ring was pretty wet, and I had other plans for the horses today anyway. (Namely, mane pulling and pastern shaving.) Anyway once again, the weather thwarted my plans for a silly riding outfit this week. My fun boots aren't allowed out in bad weather. But I still found some items that you haven't seen in awhile that I didn't mind getting wet. Al was our model this week, and here's what he had on:

Bridle: Winner Special

Blogger is killing the quality on this photo a bit, so it's a little hard to see, but this us our rose gold clincher bridle that I found on an Italian website a few years ago. These bridles were right around $100 (with reins) and I'm really impressed by how nice they are for the price. Soft leather, pretty hardware, great price. 

Boots: Eskadron

I splurged on these tan boots last year and I still love them. They match nicely with all of my weird colored tan breeches. And also the trim on many of my green saddle pads.

Saddle: Butet

I really love these pads I got from the Hangry Mare awhile back. I reached out to see about getting a few more, but I think she's focusing more on bonnets these days. 

That's what Al wore this week, and here's what I had on:

Yes, so I modified my usual farm colors just slightly by wearing the colors of my Alma Mater. Which are almost the same colors. Haha. I am who I am.

Helmet: One K

I still have dreams of a brown premium Samshield. But without much braiding work this year that's going to stay on the dream board. For now I have this One K that's brown with rose gold trim. I like it almost as much.

Sweatshirt: Skidmore Shop

I picked this hoodie up... I guess seven or so years ago at the last reunion I attended. I missed my most recent one as it was at the tail end of the pandemic and I wasn't quite ready to exist my hermit era. It's one of my favorite hoodies though. It's SO soft and comfy. Also, yes, our mascot is the thoroughbred. I was clearly meant to go to Skidmore. 

Belt: C4

The riding team had these belts made up awhile back for a fundraiser and I was excited to jump on that! 

Breeches: RJ Classics

Um. Okay yes. These are the same breeches I wore last week for Thursday's Threads. Oops. Despite appearances, I did in fact wash them in between though. 

Boots: Horka

I haven't worn these in forever! They're super comfy, and an obvious choice for bad weather since they're supposed to look distressed. 

By the end of my riding day yesterday all of these things were completely soaked. That hoodie gets HEAVY when wet! I'm not going to make any promises for a fun outfit next week since who know what will happen with the weather... But I'll make an effort!
