Thursday's Threads!

It's a slow day over here on Thursday's Threads. This old asthmatic decided not to run in the 75 degree 100% humidity this morning, so no running outfit. And I forgot to take outfit pictures last night when I was in the barn, so no riding outfit either! Ah! Bad blogger! But I have a super cute work outfit for today at least!
That's right. I wore a DRESS! To work! I'm sure I'll regret this choice once the jet-engine of an air conditioner gets pumping... But for now it's adorable. Pardon my neon white legs. I ride horses.

Dress: Fantastic Fawn

I love this dress. I love everything about it. The length, the pattern, the colors, the style... EVERYTHING! I actually have it in two different patterns. Because I have so much love for it. I received them both in mystery totes from Moxie.Style which I am hoping to do a full post on very soon! Moxie.Style is a fairly new website that I recently discovered and am completely hooked on. I'll tell you more and show you all kinds of fun clothes I've purchased from them in the very near future!

Shoes: Guess
Ugh. My feet. Sorry. Ew. But the flip flops are super cute. They're leather with rhinestones. And MINT! These were from the final days of Little Black Bag. I had forgotten all about them and they've been sitting unworn in their box. Shame on me!

Arm Party:
Lefty:
Lefty is adorning a hot pink spike bracelet from Forever21, a beaded friendship bracelet from Ettika, and of course, my trusty watch.

Righty:
Righty is wearing a wrap bracelet from Ettika and one of ebay finds. If you look closely at the wrap bracelet, you can see there's a strip of rhinestones under the blue leather. So fun!

What are you wearing today?

What's Up Wednesday

Wednesday already! I was looking back over the past week and realized I don't have a whole lot to talk about. My time has mostly been consumed by tending to Rio, work, riding, and canceling Vermont. Kind of depressing! So I think this week, instead of rambling on about nothing, I'll just post some photos of the four leggeds.

Rio looking guilty for trying to eat my chair

nap time with my favorite snugglers

Throwback photo to the Westbrook horse show

Artie!

P feeling like she's being watched

They mostly sleep. And leave bullies all over the house.

Brotherly love

Rio!

sweaty, post run, runfie with my Outrun 38 "L" for Liz
A little moonlit pool time
Well, that summed up my week a whole lot better than I would have in text. How was your week?

Truthful Tuesday

Feeling all the feels. So the bestest news ever is that Mr. Rio seems to be improving each day since we changed his shoes. Thank goodness!
He's even being a little goofy. I'm SO RELIEVED that hopefully he's out of the woods as far as foundering is concerned. I'll feel even more relief when that granulation tissues sucks back up inside his food and heals though!
In the meantime, Jampy and I will be skipping our planned 10 days in Vermont at the Vermont Summer Festival. And here's where this post relates to Truthful Tuesday. I'm ashamed to admit that I'm really sad to be missing the show. REALLY SAD! It was pretty much going to be a vacation for me since the grooms take care of Jamp. Life's been super busy between work and taking care of all the horses, and I was looking forward to a showcation. But I feel so much guilt because really, poor Rio has been suffering in considerable pain for weeks. And I'm sad about missing a horse show? That's kind of messed up.
Have you ever felt sad about missing out on something even though you KNOW there's much worse things happening around you?

July Golden Tote Review

**Disclaimer: contains referral links... Should you follow my links and purchase from Golden Tote, I'll earn credit to use on future purchases**

This is my second Golden Tote order. What is it you ask? Golden Tote is an online store with a twist. You purchase either a large or small tote for either $149 or $49 respectively. Once you choose which size tote you'd like, you get to pick 2 items for the large, or 1 item for the small. A stylist at Golden Tote will surprise you with the rest of your items. The large tote will have 3-4 additional pieces, and the small will have 1-2. You fill out a very in depth survey about your likes and dislikes and your stylist uses those answers to curate your tote. Obviously due to my shopping problem and need to get the best deal, I opted for the large tote.
I had mentioned last time that Golden Tote is all or nothing. So if you don't like an item in your tote, you have to either return the whole thing or keep it all. However, they have since altered this policy. You can actually return partial totes now, but you will be charged $35.00 for each surprise item kept and whatever the boutique price is for the chosen items. So it may actually work out cheaper to keep items you don't want. Plus you can always trade or sell them in the Facebook group.
So let's see what I got this month!

Chosens:
Pink Owl Ladylike Maxi

I don't wear maxi dresses. I'm a short girl with wide hips. Maxi's are not designed for people like me. I even have in my profile with Golden Tote NO MAXI's! But the whole point of Golden Tote is try things I normally wouldn't pick out. So I decided to take the leap and try this dress. And I have to say... I kind of like it! It's too long, I need to have it hemmed for sure. But I like that it doesn't make me look huge like I expected it would. I think I'm going to keep it and find someone to shorten it a little.

Special A Classic Denim Skirt:

Ok, well this isn't thinking outside the box at all... But I was in need want of a new denim skirt. I used to wear them all the time, but the skirts I have are a bit snug currently. And also a little shorter than this one. I was thinking it was time to let them go, and this is the perfect replacement.

Surprises:
Mak B Cardigan

This is one of those items I would never purchase for myself, but I actually really could use it. I'm always cold at work. Or when I go out on summer evenings and it gets cool after the sun sets. Perfect go-to for either scenario!

Lumiere Knotted Tee:

Meh. This one doesn't do it for me. It's just a plain t-shirt with a weird knot in it. I like the color though.

Le Lis Anchor Top

At first I wasn't sure about this top. It definitely doesn't work with the skirt! But I wore it the other day with a pair of dark denim skinny jeans and it looked great!

Orange Creek Butterfly Dress:

I should have grabbed a photo of this in better lighting. The colors are fantastic! I love how it fits too. Easily my favorite item in the whole order!

Add ons:
Buttefly Shoes by Soda:

Love these! I'm pretty sure everyone who ordered the shoes also got the dress. They don't match each other, but that would be a lot of butterflies if they did! These are super comfy for everyday.

Anchor wrap bracelet:
This is super cute! Yes, I probably could make it, but it was inexpensive enough to not feel guilty about buying it.

Giraffe Dress:
So.... I actually ordered this in a size medium and in black. They sent a small beige version. I really wanted the black which is why I sized up to a medium. But I tried this on anyway and realized the medium would be too big. And in person, I really like the beige! So I'm keeping it as is.

Heart on My Sleeve Beige Pullover:
Why yes, yes that is a black button down sweater. It is not, in fact, a beige pullover with teal green hearts on the elbows... This is what I actually ordered:
I think this is where my short lived love for Golden Tote starts to wane.  Golden Tote takes quite awhile to ship. That's just part of the deal. So I ordered on July 6th. My tote shipped on the 16th. Since Golden Tote is located on the west coast, it took a full week to arrive. And then BOTH add on clothing items I ordered were wrong. Granted one worked out, but the other did not. I emailed customer service early afternoon my time (so before lunchtime CA time) on the day my tote arrived (Thursday). I didn't get a response until this afternoon (Monday). I will say they did ship my replacement out today, and sent me a return label to cover shipping back (as they should). But I'm not sure this much waiting is for me. Customer service complaints should be addressed within 24 hours. At my job, we address problems immediately. And definitely not more than 24 hours after receiving notice of a problem.
But errors aside, I did enjoy most of the items in my order. And I liked all but one surprise which isn't too bad! What are your thoughts? What's your favorite piece? Least favorite? Think you'd like to try Golden Tote? Click here to sign up!

Heart to Horse Box: July

This is easily one of my favorite sub boxes! Heart to Horse Box is a horsey subscription that you can order either as a one time box or as a monthly delivery. I opted for the sub since I like presents. You save a little each month that way too. This sub is unique in that it includes something for the horse AND something for the rider each month. My favorite part is that 25% of sales each month is donated to a local charity. This month's charity recipient is Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue. I think they were the recipients last month also.
Roy is one of the rescues from Gentle Giants! I love that they give you a face that they've helped.
Ok, on with the box!
First look... sorry for the terrible photo
For the horse:
Finish Line Apple a Day Electrolytes
This is a nice trial size container! Electrolytes are so important this time of year. My horses already have them built into their meal routine, but if we have another heat wave, I will use this for an extra dose in the morning.

Tough 1 Massage Curry
This has Rio written all over it! We're going to try it out later tonight. I know he'll love it. And with his sore foot, he could certainly use a good massage.

Celebration Spot On bug repellent
This is the only item I am not planning to try. While I do appreciate a good bug repellent that may actually work, the warning on the back made me think this isn't the one for us:
Harmful if absorbed through the skin? Won't that happen when you PUT IT ON THEIR SKIN? It's probably perfectly fine, but between Jamp's allergies and colic episode and Rio's foot problems, I'm going to steer clear of anything potentially harmful. Luck is not on our side this summer!

For the Barn:
Tough 1 Collapsible Bucket

Love this! It's totally going to live in the trailer. I love the idea of a collapsible bucket. It's made of a heavy canvas material. So useful!

For the rider:
Bling Horse Hat

I have a pea sized head and hats never fit me. This one isn't too huge though! And it's ADORABLE!

I didn't do a cost breakdown this month because I'm at work and just got super busy.... Bad Blogger! But without actually running the numbers, I'm still confident I got my moneys worth from this box. The only item this month I won't use is the bug repellent, but the whole point of getting a box like this is to be introduced to new things. So I don't mind if sometimes I don't like everything inside.
If you're interested in trying Heart to Horse Box, head over here and check it out. That's not a referral link. As far as I know they do not have any referral incentives. If they do, someone tell me so I can cash in!
