What's Up Wednesday

Well my friends... it's officially the most boring time of the year. I haven't been buying anything awesome because I overdid it at holiday time. And holy crap this cold spell here in CT has been expensive. I've spent almost $3500 just on heating fuel in the last two months. There's been no riding to speak of, though this weekend is looking promising! Cross all of your crossables that the weather does what they're saying please!
What I have been doing is lots of grooming. LOTS of it. These two boys start shedding the second the days start getting longer. I actually love grooming my boys. They both really enjoy it, and it's a great way to spend time with them when they're not in work.
Bonding with Jampy

His tail hasn't been this nice in a long while!

Fruits of my grooming labor. This is just Jampy's pile! Foot and broom for scale.
Rio bonding

THIS tail though! Whoa.

Rio's pile-o-hair
Last Friday was really warm but also very rainy. The bright side was, it melted all the snow in the ring! I was hoping to maybe ride Saturday, but by the time chores were done, the wind was howling and it was already down to 29 degrees. No thanks. Rio enjoyed rolling in the mud though before it froze again.
Some friends and I got together Sunday to exchange holiday gifts (we're so behind! I still have a few more people I haven't seen yet). They clearly really know me well because I got a giant box of giant whoopie pies.
I put them in the freezer for safe keeping because I really need to exercise more before I open this can of worms... Mooo.

Since this week was super quiet, let's talk about some things I'm looking forward to in the next several weeks.
Despite my current break from shopping, I do have a few things I'm waiting on that I purchased back in November. I think they're all a few weeks away still, but here's what I'm getting antsy waiting for:
-My Pioneer boots:
I mean... gold glitter!

These but in blue
-I ordered my half price replacement boots from Fama 4 All once I sold the other pair too. Instead of the gray and blue, I'm getting hunter green with tan croco accents this time. No pics yet though.
-I also mentioned this quite awhile back, but it's taken forever to ship, I ordered a different unicorn/rainbow hackamore for Rio from Evo Equine. I got the boys matching browbands from them too, so that should all be coming together any day now.

this, but in dark brown
-My trailer! While I was in Florida, the trailer company contacted me to pick out my graphics/color scheme for the exterior. So that means things are getting close!

-And lastly, these I ordered in September, but there was some kind of shipping snafu so I'm still waiting... I got the boys custom bridles from FSS. They're not great quality, but they're decent. I don't want to spend a boatload of money on a bridle that's not for showing, but I do care that they're going to be safe and comfortable. And you know... that they're pretty. I was able to get both Rio and Jamp their own bridle and I spent under $300 total including shipping. So what did I get you ask?! I kept it fairly simple. I chose havana leather for the bridle itself. It's padded in hunter green, and has gold piping. I CANNOT wait to see them! The reins are havana with hunter green rubber, but I did get them separately.

I updated the about me section on here the other day. I realized I hadn't touched it since I started the blog, so it was definitely lacking some info and familiar faces. I'm thinking I may give the four leggeds each a page at some point too.

And that's really all that's going on here. Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to talk about next week!
How are things where you are? Have you had a thaw yet, or is everything still frozen? Did you order anything exciting during the holiday sales?

  1. I bought myself a lot of clothes in December so I'm on a spending freeze for a while (minus T's bday present)

    1. Haha! I can't wait for it all to get here!
Agree, the cold is exhausting. I'm not sure where you are, but I think your weather is heading this way! That's our forecast for Sat and Sun.

    1. You and me both! They contacted me while I was in FL to pick the rhinestone color on the blue pair, so I think they're in process now... So hard waiting.
