Anyway, as she's aged she's had some medical stuff come up, as most do (canine, human, equine, all alike). Sometime last year, she started throwing up her daily supplement which helps her liver function. She's had some liver abnormalities since she was a pup, but the supplement seems to keep her going happily and healthfully. So it was of some concern that she was all of a sudden rejecting her supplement. After a vet visit and some tests, the diagnosis was acid reflux. So now P and I take the same medicine! Ha. It's not easy getting old... for any species!
So today's confession, coming straight from P is this: Sometimes she doesn't eat her pill. USUALLY if she doesn't, she spits it out right next to her dish, so I know and can force it into her. (Fortunately, Artie has no interest in stealing her meds as he will leave it right there on the floor by her bowl.)
But SOMETIMES, I find them in weird places. The other day, I looked down at my storm door as I was going outside and saw this:
She had stuck her little half a pill to the door. I have no idea how long it was there. I'm telling ya... animals are just as naughty as kids!
Haha oh fur kids, they keep us on our toes!
ReplyDeleteThey sure do!
Deletemy dogs have hidden, spit out, refused to take pills and i have found pills everwhere LOL My dachshund actually was taken to the vet when he was having treatment and needed pills for his back. (I couldn't tilt his head up without hurting him and i made them do it) LOL. One of my schnauzer's alfie got pepcid ac and had cushings meds etc. I had to shove each one down his throat and make sure he had swallowed it before he had the next one because he would spit them out. (AND WOULD NOT EAT Them in food). So funny. Right now Gretchen is the only one who gets anything really (Apoquel for itchies) and she just eats it in her dog food. WHEW. DOGS :) (I found a pill in my bed one night like 6 hours after i gave ALfie his pills still intact) I think he had stuck in his gums till he got up on the bed ;) Pia is very cute btw!
ReplyDeleteThey're so naughty! Much of the time she'll eat this one in her food. But the supplement I mentioned I have to shove down her throat everyday. It's a big capsule and she will not touch it otherwise. I think it's a lot easier to trick a horse into eating meds than dogs. Though some horses are really tough too I suppose.
DeleteThank you! She knows she's cute! haha!
SO.MUCH.LOL. Seriously, I die!!!

ReplyDeleteBoth my dogs get supplements and I'm pretty sure I could dose them with acid as long as there was peanut butter on it. Bitches love their peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteP loves peanut butter too... But she also loves to lick it right off the pill.
DeleteHahaha!! I feed pills to my doggie in pieces of hot dog.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good place to hide them!
DeleteSneaky P!
ReplyDeleteShe's so sly!
