It's always a little tough to get back to your normal routine after being on vacation. This seemed especially true today. While I was away I'd get up around 7, get myself ready and head south to ride at nine. I'd ride two horses, clean tack, then head back north to work for a few hours. After work, I'd find something to do and get dinner. Then home by nine to read or watch some tv. It was a pretty nice schedule. Now that I'm back home, I get up around the same time, though I should be up earlier to go running... Then work till 12:45, home for lunch to let the dogs out and hay/water the horses, then back to work until 5. Then back home to ride/lunge everyone. And then I planned to find some dinner, stop at the atm, and fuel up the car. Problem is, all the places with food (including the local grocery store!) close at 9. NINE! Which leads me to today's confession.
Since I wasn't done in the barn until 9:30 tonight, for dinner I ate something called a Tornado. You guys... It was GAS STATION FOOD! It's cooked on the roller grill. The ROLLER GRILL! Is that even food? Listen, if you don't see a What's Up Wednesday post before Thursday, send someone because the gas station food probably killed me. Oh, not only that, I dropped a Tornado on the floor. I told the kid to charge me for three instead of two since I ruined one, but he said not to worry about it. I wonder if it's because he knows what those things will do to me?
So what's a Tornado you ask? I really had no idea, but it appeared to be the best option. It looked like a cross between a skinny burrito and an egg roll. And it was filled with something that tasted like barbecue chicken. Hopefully, that's what it was. It was actually pretty delicious. I just hope it doesn't kill me.
Anything you need to confess today? How late are places open where you live?
I'm horrified. I hope you survive the gas station tornado. I would have just eaten cereal or something.
ReplyDeleteThat's my normal go to! I think I was so hungry I wasn't thinking clearly.
DeleteWe live in the sticks and the closest gas station to us closes at like 7 or 8. And it's not even open on Sundays 😐
ReplyDeleteIt was like that in these parts before I went off to college. Much has changed since then... but not enough!
DeleteOh man, hahaha. I won't even eat cafeteria food -- you are so brave!
ReplyDeleteI'm a risk taker!
DeleteOh wow, you're brave (or desperate). There's a little corner store just a few miles south of our place that is open 24/7 and has a little pizza place in it. Plus most everything in town is open to 11 so I'm pretty set for late night meal.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely desperate. There is nothing open 24/7 here. Nothing at all.
DeleteI hope you were neat a bathroom lol
ReplyDeleteHaha! I was home, just in case ;)
DeleteThankfully, it was safe!
He probably didn't charge you for it because he was just going to put it back on the grill. ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG. You're probably right! Good thing I threw it out myself... I wonder if the ones I ate were floor food too. Ugh.
