Truthful Tuesday

You guys probably know by now that while I like to dress my horses in ridiculous outfits and wear crazy colored boots/helmets, I am VERY traditional about my show attire. I like wool jackets (or wool blends) in the traditional cut. I'm not into these short soft shell jackets that are all over the place. But I did order myself one a few of the motion lite coats. Only after seeing Olivia's pictures in which it very much looked traditional and not at all see-through. But I told myself, these jackets are only for VERY HOT days, and ONLY for the jumper ring.
Well guys. It would seem that I have lied to myself. Here's what happened. I currently am not fitting so well into my extensive jacket collection. I have maybe two of the traditional type jackets that fit me. One I've worn twice, and really needs to see the dry cleaner before I wear it again. The other is available. But it was super humid, and the shirt I was wearing had some green stitching on it. The jacket is blue... You can see where this is going.

Bad lighting, but it's the green one
Yep. I did it. I wore my motion lite jacket in the hunter ring. And you know what? It was ridiculously comfortable, and I don't think it looked out of place.

Would I do it at an A show? I'm not sure yet. This was just a local show, not even USEF rated. What are your thoughts? Have you worn the motion lite in the hunters? Do you have one? Want one? Love it? Hate it?

Oh, and I guess the add on confession is that I have it in the following colors: Aviation Blue, Gray, Navy, and Hunter. And I kinda want the black one...

  1. I love those jackets! I got the lightest blue one of Amazon for $75!! But I need every color. Need. Every. Yes.

    1. $75?! Nice find! I haven't found any that cheap yet. But if/when I do... I hope it's the black one!

  2. Tons of people are wearing the motionlite's in the hunter ring! For real, almost all the ones I sold at Brownland were to hunter people. You definitely would not look out of place at all. I freaking love mine. Want the green one.

    1. That's good to know! The cut is really similar to the old school jackets, and I took the AA pin off it to keep it simple.
I LOVE the green. It's really dark.

  4. They are worn by lots of people in the hunter ring at A shows, including places like WEF. So you wouldn't be out of place at all. I didn't like them when I first started working at the tack store, but they've grown on me. I'm used to seeing them close up now, but I hated the mesh look initially. Once you're on a horse though and you're more than a couple feet away, you don't notice the mesh at all. It just looks like a regular coat.

    1. Agree completely! At first all that texture was a real turn off to me, but you really don't notice if you're not right up close. And it's soooo comfortable!

  5. I really want a navy motionlite and I only show in the hunters, LOL. Seriously, tech fabric is where it's at. Why die of heat stroke if you don't have to?!

    1. The wool ones are just so pretty... But now that they are making normal looking jackets in tech fabric, I'm more willing to jump on the bandwagon!

  6. I've seen tons of them in the hunter ring, including the burgundy but I guess USEF/USHJA is nixing the burgundy in the hunter ring for next year lol

    1. The burgundy was never actually legal for hunters, people just don't really know the rules.

  7. I have 2 and have yet to wear them. I am looking forward to it next year. I don't show hunters, but I've seen plenty of hunters wearing them at rated shows on social media.

    1. I think you'll love them! They're so light weight and stretchy, you don't even know you're wearing it.
