You know, I really had no regrets about spending a bunch of money on pretty things I don't need. I mean, they are SO PRETTY!
I didn't even feel too much guilt about letting Amanda peer pressure me into getting these:
That is until yesterday when I got Badger's vet bill from the last four months.
Yeah. You are reading that correctly. I mean, I have it, I can pay it. I'll just have to pay off my unnecessary pretties a little more slowly than planned.
What really bothers me though is the delayed billing. My vets here at home bill me immediately when they come out. They don't wait and bill quarterly. That's crazy! This would have been a whole lot less daunting if I'd paid for each visit, or even each clump of visits on their own.
My farrier for the horses at my house leaves a bill each time he comes. My farrier that does Badger? He bills me like twice a year. So it's the same shell shock. I can't stand it!
Have you had any surprises like this show up from a vet or farrier, or worse, your TRAINER? Did you briefly consider selling all of your horses and taking up table tennis?
Holy $@#$ that vet bill... yikes! At least you can console yourself with all the pretties?
ReplyDeleteI know! It's a good thing I stocked up on Ramen the last time I went food shopping...
DeleteThis is true. I shall pet them and thank them for not having vet bills of their own!
Quarterly billing??? Yeah could. not. deal. nope.
ReplyDeleteTrainer says this vet just gets behind on billing, so it's not always quarterly exactly. But still! AH!
DeleteHoly sh*t; that's a huge vet bill.
ReplyDeleteThere was some mild panic when I opened it.
DeleteThat's weird. My vet bills per visit. I've never heard of a vet billing quarterly before unless it was a crazy maintenance plan!
ReplyDeleteMy trainer says this vet just gets behind on billing. But sheesh, four months?!
DeleteHoly crap! I would crap my pants. I was hyperventilating after getting Henry's 1000 dollar xray bill! But really it's just money, you can chip away at that ;) (this is what I tell myself daily when I am paying for horse things)
ReplyDeleteHa! Yep, someone once said to me, it's only money, you can always make more.
DeleteDang girl. That is crazy. The farrier does it too? Strange. I would think that style of billing would be hard on AR/collecting
ReplyDeleteThat particular farrier is my trainer's husband. There are only five horses at the barn, 4 are my trainer's and the other is mine. So I think he's just not in the habit of billing when he's there. So I have to chase him down, and by the time he does it, it's several months worth of shoeings. I don't think he's like that for other clients.
DeleteHoly shit. What the heck has he had done the past few months?!?!
ReplyDeleteNothing all that crazy even! Fall shots, had an allergy panel and then allergy shots, some maintenance type stuff when he hurt his back, etc. It just adds up I guess.
DeleteMy old vet would get behind too, but they came out by invoice not quarterly, so each bill would be like 1-2 months behind AND THAT WAS OKAY WITH ME. I would get an estimate at time of visit and pay the bill in whole when it arrived.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it wouldn't be so bad if you knew what was coming. Since I don't live in the same state as Badger currently, a lot gets done that I'm not there for. So I don't realize what it's costing me until I get the bill.
