Truthful Tuesday

Heh... well. The good news, and maybe more of a brag than a confession, is that I am COMPLETELY done holiday shopping! Not wrapping. That still needs to happen. And I have a few more things to Cricut (my blade went dull halfway through my projects), but everything is at least purchased. Yay!

But uh... the confession is that as I was accumulating gifts for my family and friends, I also accumulated quite a few for myself and the horses. Oops. I just couldn't pass up Equiline breeches for under $125. Couldn't. I tried. It was not successful. They are en route. And Shiny and Eros both really did need new barn approved blankets. Eros has more holes in the lining of his than I can even count. And Shiny's was a pretty old hand me down to begin with. She is literally bursting out of the seams on it. I think perhaps it shrunk in the dryer. Did I buy a silly number of new baby pads too? Maybe... But in my defense, I did sell a ton of stuff to pay for all these indiscretions. Hopefully it all evens out in the end.

Truthful Tuesday

Um... I had a few tackcidents recently. I was supposed to be not shopping so I can pay my taxes this month. But I'm on track for that, and so I had a few little slips... Okay, not that little. Worst part? They were the things I'm not supposed to buy any more of! Namely, boots and breeches. Also bad? I bought two of each. Oops.

So first up is breeches. Karen had a pair of RJ Classic breeches in the best teal color on her insta for a great price, so of course I needed those. To be fair, it's a color I don't have. I don't have a photo though, they are currently in the mail. Sorry about that. And the other pair of breeches? Well they are amazing, and also second hand, so I feel like that makes my purchase more acceptable. Plus... how do you NOT buy these:

Why yes, those ARE tie dye Pikeurs! I've seen a purple pair floating around the sales pages on FB, and I REALLY want them, but I've only seen them in a teeny size. So when these popped up, I got really excited. And then less excited because they're a size smaller than I normally wear. The seller said they had plenty of stretch so I took a chance and they actually fit great.

So then the boots... First was a pair of boots from Epplejeck. Problem with them is they arrived and the calf is too small. BUT they don't have an elastic panel in them, so I'm going to see if I can find a boot repair place to add one. They should fit if that gets put in. Anyway, these were on sale for just over $100 so I couldn't resist. Even with the alteration, they will still be pretty inexpensive. So whatever. Here they are:

Fun right?! These were XLW so I thought they'd be wide enough, but I have enormous legs. They didn't have a size chart for the calves so it was a risk. Hopefully I can get them to work. If you have a recommendation on where to send them to get the elastic put in, let me know in the comments please!

The others I feel a little ashamed about... It was a total impulse. Celeris posted on IG that they had some sample boots available. I ALWAYS look when they have samples because they sell them for less than half price and that's just a really good bargain. They never have any that would fit me though because I'm such a weird size. Fairly long calf (for my height), small feet, large WOMANLY calves. Most people don't have those dimensions. But this time? This time there was a pair of boots basically in exactly my measurements. Plus they're the Bia boots (full laces) so I can adjust them if needed.  And they are CRAZY. Like legit, would never, ever have these made. And probably if I wasn't so excited to see my size available in a sample pair I wouldn't have bought them. They're a lot, even for me. But I did it. I ordered them right there at first sight. They're already in the mail to me. Wanna see them? Of course you do. Here you go:

I told you. They are A LOT. But I'm here for it. I might even pair them with the tie dye breeches... I mean, 2021 is really just 2020 the sequel so I think we all could use a little too much in our lives.

So there it is. I fell off the wagon. Whatever. If you feel the need to judge me, just move along. But if you're here for it too, let me know!

Truthful Tuesday... the one where marketing gets the best of me. And some other shopping indiscretions.

I did an awful lot of online shopping when lockdown first started because I was working on improving my home while I was stuck inside. So I had to put my foot down and rein it back for awhile so I could pay my taxes. (I pay a LOT in taxes every year, like I could buy a couple Shiny ponies for it...) Now that I've gotten that squared away for the year, I maybe fell off the wagon a little lot. I had planned to stay with my limited shopping rule. Saving money is never a bad idea. But... well... a few things happened.

First, Kentucky Horsewear came out with pine green blankets. In the weight I've been hunting for! AND it's a limited edition color. So I kind of felt like I had to order. But then it spiraled. So I got the 100 gram I needed. They arrived already and are BEAUTIFUL. Will be kind of a shame to put them on the horses and dirty them up...

Here's where it takes a turn... They also made them in heavy. AND they have quarter sheets... So I had to have all of it.

This is the heavy one. Same features as the other, but with more fill.

The quarter sheets I almost didn't get. I mean, I have the fancy ones from Mattes that I got last year. But these are a nicer material. They're still fleece, but it's a heavy fleece and actually feels like wool. I'm not sure how they did that. I'll be curious to see if static is still an issue with the way this material is made. Time will tell.
They're also my favorite type that attaches behind the saddle.

I asked if they'll make sheets to match, and unfortunately they have no plans to. If any of you green lovers wanted to reach out, maybe they'd change their minds?
I really wanted to get two of each blanket for each horse so we had a set for home and a set for shows, but my money tree isn't blooming. Maybe later in the season I can get another set if there are any green left. But really, it's not like I show anyway, so probably don't even really need the second set.

So the whole "Limited Edition" thing got me. I felt like I HAD to have them right away because FOMO. Oh well. I'm a marketer's dream I guess.

But um... well. That's not all I bought. I bought two other things... One not so expensive and one that was really unnecessary.
The not so bad? QHP made some open front boots that are basically identical to the ones from Premier. But they made them in green! I got a full size and a Shiny size. They tried them out this weekend and we all like them very much.

And now. The really bad one. Helmet awareness weekend got the better of me. But I didn't do the mature, responsible thing and get a MIPS helmet. (Though, in my defense, I do have the One K MIPS helmet on back order, so I am getting one...) Nope. What did I get? Well. I got a helmet to match my awesome unicorn boots.

I know. I'd say I'm ashamed, and that it's risky behavior. But it's no more risky than wearing any of my other helmets at the moment. And it's pretty and holographic and I'm gonna love it. So no shame here my friends. Of course waiting the 6 to 8 weeks for it is like torture... Which led me to nearly buy another in stock pretty helmet, but I managed to control myself there at least. For now.

So yeah. I've spent all my money again. Oops. At least my horse kids will be beautifully outfitted. Have you guys done any shopping lately? What did you get?!
