Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! And this one is real. As in it's nothing special and I don't even fully match. Because sometimes you just wear what's quickest to grab and the most comfortable. And I realize you're probably expecting a fourth of July outfit, but honestly, I'm just not feeling celebrating this country too hard this year. Maybe next year. Al wanted to model today since he missed his chance last week. Here's what he was wearing:

He's just the cutest thing. And so long as his photos still make me smile, I still believe there's hope for us!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
You may notice a different bit than he usually wears. (Or you may not because really who pays that close attention?) After our first lesson with our new trainer he suggested trying a full cheek. Which I was on board for since he actually shows in one. But I didn't want to change the mouthpiece because he seems to really like what we've been using. So I ordered the same mouthpiece but in the full cheek version. When it arrived I noticed the cheeks were... well they're weird. They're really short, and they don't have a little ball on the end like most to secure the keepers. So the keepers have to sit lower on the cheep piece to stay on. And it's weird. But for now it's fine. I was reading Leah's blog about the roller bits she was trying for Pyro and I had a hmmmm moment. I've noticed that Al exhibits some behaviors that are very similar to what some humans do called stimming. It's more or less a behavior that someone may do for comfort, like rocking back and forth, flapping hands, or touching finger tips. Al sometimes sucks on the crossties. Or when we're riding he will chomp on the bit, but not in a way that's resistant to the contact. In fact, when he's chomping on the bit, it's the rare time when he's actually got his focus on me. If I can get him to chomp, I know our ride will be lovely. Or at least the moments while he will keep chomping... I KNOW this sounds wrong. But you'll just have to trust me on this. And yes, good thing he's not a dressage horse. So anyway, the reason for my rambling, I think he might like a copper roller to play with. Like a fidget spinner for horses! Of course, the only roller bits I have are the ones that are three piece with a roller in the center. But Al doesn't like a three piece mouth. I ordered one of the ones with a single joint which should be here early next week. Can't wait to try it out! Fingers crossed I've had an epiphany. (Thanks Leah!) And if not, at least those bits are inexpensive! Lol. Okay back to our outfits.

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Ogilvy
Half Pad: Mattes
Just a simple set up this week. My saddle looks so light in this photo! I think it needs oil.

Boots: Anky
I think these might be my favorite every day front boots. It's a bummer they were a seasonal color, but hopefully they'll last forever. So far so good!

That's what Al wore today, and here's what I had on:
Barn colors-ish. And my boots don't match my outfit. And I'm not sad about it.

Helmet: One K Avance CCS MIPS
It's surprising how dry and dusty things got after all the rain we've been getting. Hence my dirty helmet. But we had a very quick storm blow through a little bit ago, so hopefully no dust tomorrow!

Top: FitEq
I'm bummed this brand went out of business, I was hoping they'd make more colors of these tops. They're really comfy and quick drying.

Belt: Zazzle
The buckle is a little beat up, but I still love this belt so much. They STILL don't have these in stock at Zazzle which makes me sad. I hope they aren't gone forever.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
I'm pretty sure this color is Dark Teal. I actually paid retail for these a couple of years ago because I loved the color so much. I rarely do such crazy things! But it was worth it I think for these.

Boots: Celeris UK
I haven't ordered custom boots in many years at this point, but this pair of demo's happened to be exactly my measurements so I couldn't say no to them. I've had them since last summer, and I'm pretty sure I've shared them before a few times. They're a navy color so I don't wear them a ton what with my boycott of all things blue there for awhile... But they're lovely boots and so comfy and I will definitely be wearing them more.

And that's it for today! Sorry it wasn't an exciting outfit, but they can't all be crazy!

Thursday's Threads: The one with my favorite color

Glitter. That's my favorite color. And today, we wore glitter. Okay, actually I took outfit photos yesterday because I knew today would be winter. And it was. There were many layers today. But yesterday there were fewer, so we'll use that outfit. Eros modeled today and he looked fabulous. FABULOUS! But he was upstaged tonight by the northern lights. So I interrupt this outfit day with some photos of the magical sky:

This looks like a heart to me

I've never seen anything like it. The Iphone photos are a little more impressive than what we could see with human eyes, but even what we could see was incredible. What a year for cool stuff in the sky!

Okay, back to our regular programming. Here's what Eros wore this week:

I know. You don't see the glitter yet. Be patient. You will.

Bridle: Ponyo
There it is! There's the glitter! ALL over the bridle. This thing is so ridiculous, and I love it so much. The reins also have glitter. Even on the hand stops!

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Mattes
Saddle Pad: Eskadron
Okay, well you can't really see the glitter in this photo. But the pad has a glitter layer underneath the mesh outer layer. It doesn't photograph well, but it does glisten in the sun. I kind of like that's is semi subtle ridiculousness.

Wraps: Ponyo
I had forgotten I'd gotten the polos when I bought the bridles and boots, and I was so happy with past me when I found them this week! I prefer Eros wear wraps versus boots these days.

That's what E had on, and here's my outfit:

Oh fear not. There's more glitter. You'll see.

Helmet: Horze
There's some! Up there on the helmet! I love the color of the helmet, and especially the glitter part. But I don't wear it that much because it's a bit rounder than my head. But as long as I leave my hair down it's not too bad.

Shirt: FitEq
I like these FitEq tops. I'm disappointed they've gone out of business, was hoping they'd do new colors this year.

Belt: Tory Burch
I don't have a green glitter belt. I did spray paint a buckle but it hasn't held up well. So I decided to match the piping on the saddle pad to my belt today. Metallic gold is always a strong second choice to glitter.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
I rarely reach for these breeches because they're a size smaller than my usual size and I always thing they'll be too tight. But now that I ride three horses a day instead of four or five (and sometimes just two when Shiny's kid comes!) I think I've lost some muscle mass as these are fitting quite well suddenly. I certainly haven't lost any weight. But it's nice to know I can reach for these more often anyway!

Boots: Tuffrider embellished by me
You guys remember when life got real weird there for awhile and the whole world shutdown, and I started painting boots? These were one of those pairs! They're still going pretty strong. Some of the paint has worn off on the part by the zipper up the back. But otherwise it still looks pretty great!

And that's it for today! What do you think about the glitter? Too much, or just enough?

Thursday's Threads: Be more extra than Guac edition

Outfit Day!!! I planned ahead this week and did outfit day photos on Tuesday because all the rain was coming. Glad I did that! Although I still got rained on that day too. Shiny is our model this week, and here's what she had on:

I know you can't really tell since Blogger loves to destroy the quality on photos.... But she is indeed just covered in avocados. Which is appropriate since she is more extra than guac.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: Home made by me
Bonnet: Woof Wear, embellished by me
Charm: Pinsnickety

Seriously though Blogger. This photo is zero percent blurry on my phone. Ugh. Anyway, it's possible I went a little too far on this one... But whatever, it's adorable. How ridiculous is that browband?? Haha!

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Lettia
Sheepskin liner: Eskadron
Pin: Pinsnickety
Do you see the lil' Pinsnickety pin on the right bottom? It blends in perfectly with this pad! I've been trying to make use of all my Pinsnickety pins at home since we haven't done' any showing this summer. It's silly to have these cute things and not use them.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
You really can find fabric with anything at all printed on it. I was so happy to find this near perfect match to the pad for use on my interchangeable boots.

That's what Shiny was wearing this week, and here's what I had on:
That's correct. Instead of wearing avocados I just dressed like one. Hahahaha! Do you see it? The boots are the skin, the breeches are the meat, and the shirt and helmet are the pit!

Helmet: One K
I'm getting a lot more use out of this brown helmet than I ever expected!

Shirt: FitEq
Big fan of these shirts. I have a few in different colors and sleeve lengths. If you like them, grab one now as they are shutting down.

Belt: C4
Of course I have an avocado belt! I can't believe it happened to have pink on it to match the saddle pad.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
The color of these is actually called avocado. So obvious choice for today's outfit. I actually bought them because they also work well with neon outfits.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I actually had socks from Lettia that were an exact match to the saddle pad, but I didn't like the material on them, so when I saw D&S had avocado socks I jumped on them for a replacement. These don't have any pink on them obviously, but they are ridiculously cute.

Boots: Imperial Riding
I think these boots are so pretty! But I will admit they are a little too tall for me. They were on sale from Fundis last year around holiday time, and they didn't have the regular height available so I got the talls. I was really right in between anyway, so I figured with heel lifts they would work... And they kind of do, but ever since I tore my ACL, too tall boots are pretty uncomfortable on that one leg. I'm hoping they'll drop a little more once they're more broken in.

Alright, that's it for today! Definitely more extra than guac... Ha! Any favorites from today? I think my favorite is the brow band.
