Thursday's Threads: Summertime Edition

Outfit Day!!! We are making sure to fully embrace all things summer before fall gets here (and I can tell, it's coming...). So Eros and I chose a watermelon theme for this week. Here's what we wore:

I love that he'll humor me with a snuggle even when wearing a ridiculous outfit. That's the mark of a solid amateur horse! Let's look closer at his outfit today.

I was feeling like he had lost some weight since the spring... but I dunno looking at this photo. That's quite the belly on him! My saddle looks awfully small up there.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow band: Home made by me
Bonnet: Woof Wear embellished with a patch from Amazon

I felt like this brow band deserved a closeup. I know, it's ridiculous. But I love it!

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Ippico
Saddle Pad: Smartpak embellished by me
It's a little hard to see, but the ribbon on the pad is watermelon printed. Rind on the bottom, then the fruit part complete with seeds!

Boots: Premier Equine embellished by me
I wanted to find ribbon that was the same as the pad's, but I couldn't find it in the right width for the boots. So I went with this fabric instead. It's cute, even if the colors are a little different. That's why I chose pink for the brow band base, figured it would pull it all together.

Here's what I wore today:
Nothing says summer like watermelon! And bright green pants. Evidently.

Helmet: Samshield
I chose this helmet today because the crystals felt kind of seed like to me. I think it works.

Top: Promesa
I was actually planning to just wear a pink shirt, but then I found that I had this one, and it's obviously the only real choice. It's tie dye, it's watermelon, it has a little cutout. What more could you want?

Belt: C4
This belt is almost the exact same as the ribbon on my saddle pad. Love a good matchy matchy moment.

Breeches: Equiline
I always whine a little when I share my Equilines with you because they frustrate me. I think these are maybe a little too small based on the stress on that pocket zipper... But the pairs I have that are the size up are a little too loose. So I guess I'm in between. Regardless of sizing, I love the color of these pants. They're so fun!

Boots and Half Chaps: HKM
Admittedly, I should have given these a cleaning before taking this photo... But I didn't. Keepin' it real over here. I got these toward the end of winter when my black boots died, and I really like them. I'm not sure they'll live that long, they're pretty thin, but they're going strong so far!

I forgot to take a photo of my socks, and I've already changed, but I wore some Dreamers and Schemers socks that I got in a special pack they did a few years back. I was able to find a photo of them on the internet, so here's what they look like:
Super cute, and the green was a pretty close match to my breeches. So fun!

And that's it for today! What do you think of the home made brow band? Ridiculous? Would you let your horse wear one for something silly?

Thursday's Threads: Be more extra than Guac edition

Outfit Day!!! I planned ahead this week and did outfit day photos on Tuesday because all the rain was coming. Glad I did that! Although I still got rained on that day too. Shiny is our model this week, and here's what she had on:

I know you can't really tell since Blogger loves to destroy the quality on photos.... But she is indeed just covered in avocados. Which is appropriate since she is more extra than guac.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: Home made by me
Bonnet: Woof Wear, embellished by me
Charm: Pinsnickety

Seriously though Blogger. This photo is zero percent blurry on my phone. Ugh. Anyway, it's possible I went a little too far on this one... But whatever, it's adorable. How ridiculous is that browband?? Haha!

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Lettia
Sheepskin liner: Eskadron
Pin: Pinsnickety
Do you see the lil' Pinsnickety pin on the right bottom? It blends in perfectly with this pad! I've been trying to make use of all my Pinsnickety pins at home since we haven't done' any showing this summer. It's silly to have these cute things and not use them.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
You really can find fabric with anything at all printed on it. I was so happy to find this near perfect match to the pad for use on my interchangeable boots.

That's what Shiny was wearing this week, and here's what I had on:
That's correct. Instead of wearing avocados I just dressed like one. Hahahaha! Do you see it? The boots are the skin, the breeches are the meat, and the shirt and helmet are the pit!

Helmet: One K
I'm getting a lot more use out of this brown helmet than I ever expected!

Shirt: FitEq
Big fan of these shirts. I have a few in different colors and sleeve lengths. If you like them, grab one now as they are shutting down.

Belt: C4
Of course I have an avocado belt! I can't believe it happened to have pink on it to match the saddle pad.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
The color of these is actually called avocado. So obvious choice for today's outfit. I actually bought them because they also work well with neon outfits.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I actually had socks from Lettia that were an exact match to the saddle pad, but I didn't like the material on them, so when I saw D&S had avocado socks I jumped on them for a replacement. These don't have any pink on them obviously, but they are ridiculously cute.

Boots: Imperial Riding
I think these boots are so pretty! But I will admit they are a little too tall for me. They were on sale from Fundis last year around holiday time, and they didn't have the regular height available so I got the talls. I was really right in between anyway, so I figured with heel lifts they would work... And they kind of do, but ever since I tore my ACL, too tall boots are pretty uncomfortable on that one leg. I'm hoping they'll drop a little more once they're more broken in.

Alright, that's it for today! Definitely more extra than guac... Ha! Any favorites from today? I think my favorite is the brow band.

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! I planned ahead and took outfit pics yesterday because I knew we weren't going to get to ride today. We had a lot less rain today than we did yesterday, but the ring was pretty wet, and I had other plans for the horses today anyway. (Namely, mane pulling and pastern shaving.) Anyway once again, the weather thwarted my plans for a silly riding outfit this week. My fun boots aren't allowed out in bad weather. But I still found some items that you haven't seen in awhile that I didn't mind getting wet. Al was our model this week, and here's what he had on:

Bridle: Winner Special

Blogger is killing the quality on this photo a bit, so it's a little hard to see, but this us our rose gold clincher bridle that I found on an Italian website a few years ago. These bridles were right around $100 (with reins) and I'm really impressed by how nice they are for the price. Soft leather, pretty hardware, great price.

Boots: Eskadron
I splurged on these tan boots last year and I still love them. They match nicely with all of my weird colored tan breeches. And also the trim on many of my green saddle pads.

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Mattes
Saddle Pad: The Hangry Mare
I really love these pads I got from the Hangry Mare awhile back. I reached out to see about getting a few more, but I think she's focusing more on bonnets these days.

That's what Al wore this week, and here's what I had on:

Yes, so I modified my usual farm colors just slightly by wearing the colors of my Alma Mater. Which are almost the same colors. Haha. I am who I am.

Helmet: One K
I still have dreams of a brown premium Samshield. But without much braiding work this year that's going to stay on the dream board. For now I have this One K that's brown with rose gold trim. I like it almost as much.

Sweatshirt: Skidmore Shop
I picked this hoodie up... I guess seven or so years ago at the last reunion I attended. I missed my most recent one as it was at the tail end of the pandemic and I wasn't quite ready to exist my hermit era. It's one of my favorite hoodies though. It's SO soft and comfy. Also, yes, our mascot is the thoroughbred. I was clearly meant to go to Skidmore.

Belt: C4
The riding team had these belts made up awhile back for a fundraiser and I was excited to jump on that!

Breeches: RJ Classics
Um. Okay yes. These are the same breeches I wore last week for Thursday's Threads. Oops. Despite appearances, I did in fact wash them in between though.

Boots: Horka
I haven't worn these in forever! They're super comfy, and an obvious choice for bad weather since they're supposed to look distressed.

By the end of my riding day yesterday all of these things were completely soaked. That hoodie gets HEAVY when wet! I'm not going to make any promises for a fun outfit next week since who know what will happen with the weather... But I'll make an effort! Let me know in the comments if they're something you've been wanting to see.

Thursday's Threads: Thirsty Thursday edition

Outfit day! Nothing says summer more than cookout party games, right?? So with that in mind, here's what Shiny and I wore this week!

Shiny normally can only partially participate in some of our crazier outfits. She uses saddle pads with the half pad built in to minimize bulk under her saddle. (She's the widest animal on the planet and her saddle fits quite well, so there's not much room for excess in there.) That is until now! We found something interesting to try and I think it works quite well. More on that later though. We'll start with Shiny's outfit so we can get to that more quickly. Here's what she wore:

I swear, the girth makes her look even fatter... I don't know what to do with her. She's going to have to start working twice a day or something!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: made my me

If not for that browband, this would be an elegant photo... Lol! It's still adorable! I made that browband from a dog leash.

Boots: Equine Star
You can't look at beer pong boots and not giggle. Or at least think back to college. I don't drink beer, but I do enjoy a good game of pong. I used to get myself a designated drinker when I played. Or just play with something else. I guess these days you could play with seltzers. Probably a good thing spiked seltzer didn't exist when I was in college. I might not have made it through!

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Equine Star
Sheepskin liner: Eskadron
That front part actually can roll back so it looks neater, but I hadn't figured that out yet when I took this photo. This sheepskin liner is from Eskadron, and it's meant to be used under any saddle pad that has billet straps. I really like it for Shiny! I was concerned it might shift, but it didn't at all, and felt great to ride with. Shiny seemed to like it well enough, she was great today!

This is the underside of it once attached to the pad

It has these little tabs to thread the billet strap through, which holds it in place.
Have you guys seen this pad before?  I don't think I had, or never paid attention to it, but I'm glad I've stumbled upon it now! I have a bunch of pads I was thinking about getting rid of because I prefer baby pads for the other horses. But now I can use them on Shiny, so they can stick around.

That's what Shiny had one today, and here's what I wore:

Still missing having navy boots... I really need to get those zippers fixed!

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS
I don't wear this one that much in the summer which is nice since I was getting tired of it by the end of winter. But now I love it again!

Tee shirt: I can't figure out where I got this one, it's been awhile!

Party shirt! If I was younger, I'd wear this every Thursday. But I'm old. So I'll wear it once a summer.

Belt: C4
This belt is pretty much the reason for this entire outfit. I saw it advertised somewhere and decided I needed it. The rest of the outfit followed after. It's so silly and irresponsible. I love it!

Breeches: Le Fash
I've always kind of lusted after the stuff from Le Fash. Their shirts are so pretty and the breeches are lovely! But it's all really expensive. So I never ordered from them. But I found these breeches on FB marketplace last year and snapped them right up as they were very reasonably priced. I like them a lot. If I ever see another pair at a good price, I'd probably get them.

Boots: Celeris UK

Ummm.... Okay, yes you haven't seen these before. And yes, they ARE new... But before you lecture me for spending money I don't have, these were sample boots! They just happened to be almost exactly my size. And because there's maybe two other people on this planet with my boot measurements, they sat in the sample section for a long time. And the price just kept getting lower... So when I saw these for less than $250 shipped, I figured it would be irresponsible to NOT get them. I mean, every boot deserves someone to love it.
This isn't as clear of a photo as I thought it was when I took it. Sorry about that! These have a very subtle crocodile embossing on the toe, heal, and the top part. Set into that top section is a little row of rhinestones which also run down the swagger tab. I probably would never bother with the rhinestones if I designed them, but I actually do like them.
They aren't a perfect fit. The foot is about a half size big, and they're just a touch shorter than my other pairs. They fit about perfectly on the widest part of my calf, but are slightly loose everywhere else. But they aren't as loose as my older customs, so I think they'll do just fine! Today was my second day riding in them, and they already feel pretty broken in. Probably one more day of riding everyone and they'll be perfect.

That's it for today! Any favorites? Thoughts on the Eskadron pad?
