Thursday's Threads: St Patrick's Day edition

Outfit Day!! You'll have to use your imagination a little with this one because we didn't get to actually ride in our St Patty's day outfit this year. We're going to use some old photos from our Pinsnickety photo shoot that the very talented Chelsea Lothrop took a few years ago for Eros' outfit. Here's what he would have worn this week if the weather had played nicer.

He would have been wearing his Joseph Sterling bridle with the Dark Jewel spiked browband. He has a cute Pinsnickety pin in his forelock in this photo.
He also would have been wearing his Butet saddle, this mattes pad, and that adorable Lettia baby pad. We probably wouldn't have had a number on though.

That's what the horses would have worn (more or less) and here's what I had on, because I did have high hopes that we might ride.
Nothing says St Patty's like green and gold! I really had no idea I'd get so much use of these $50 Winnie the Pooh colored breeches.

Sweater: Luyaa
This is one of my many inexpensive wool sweaters that are perfect for the barn. This one has a weird neck line though. I think it's stretched out. But whatever. Horse clothes don't have to be perfect.

Belt: Unbranded
Buckle: Ovation
I'm not sure what happened to the strap this belt actually came with, but I'm using it on this yellow one today. It doesn't look it here, but the belt and the breeches are pretty much the exact same shade.

Breeches: Vestrum
These are a ridiculous color for breeches. RIDICULOUS. But here we are. Loving them! Ha!

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I've had a few lucky themed boot socks over the years, but these are my favorites so far.

Since I didn't ride, I didn't wear boots or a helmet. But here's what I would have worn if I did.
Boots: TuffRider (embellished by me)
Helmet: Equinavia
I'm really impressed with how the glitter paint has held up on these boots over the years. Makes me want to paint more boots... but I won't. For now anyway. I'm looking into a fun new green helmet from Fair Play to possibly replace this one. I don't love how this helmet fits me so I hardly ever wear it. But I'm not sure the Fair Play one will be any better. It's really pretty though!

Okay that's it for this week! Any favorites? Anything you guys want to see soon? Themes, colors? Anything? Let me know in the comments!

Thursday's Threads: Avocado edition

Outfit Day! I really wanted to use a ridiculous brow band this week so I decided to do the avocado outfit this week. I was originally planning to have Al model, but the neighbor two doors over was having tree work done so Al enjoyed a lunge session today rather than a ride and didn't wear his outfit. Fortunately, Shiny stepped up to model. She was the model the last time we did this outfit too... Guess I should have picked Eros instead. Oh well. Shiny is adorable in her avocados anyway. Here's what she had on:

Last year we did a bonnet too, but this year I didn't pull it out because it's been so hot. Jokes on me though, today never got above 68 degrees. It was cold!

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Homemade by me
The avocado beads crack me up. I mean, look at them! Haha!

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
Interchangeable boots are probably my favorite thing I've ever come up.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Lettia
Half Pad: Le Mieux
Guys, I really want to get her a new saddle. Any idea what organs I can sell to get that moving along faster? Saddle aside, she looks so cute with a pink pad!

That's what Shiny wore today and here's what I had on:
Full disclosure, I had to add a jacket. It really can't go from a feels like of 110 to a feels like of 65 in less than 24 hours. It's not right!

Helmet: One K
I chose the brown helmet because I think it looks like the avocado pit. Heehee!

Tee shirt: Old Navy
I know. It's brave to wear white in the barn. But since I ended up wearing a jacket most of the day, it has survived for another wearing!

Belt: C4
I'm not sure if it's coincidental that C4 and Lettia both thought avocados look great with pink, but I'm glad they did because it really ties my outfit together with Shiny's.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
Guess what they call this color! Go ahead, guess... It's AVOCADO! I also wear them with neon outfits because they are useful for that purpose as well.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I actually had socks that matched the belt at one point, but they were the OG version of D&S socks and I didn't love that material. But I was pretty excited when this design came out! I love that his cape is the peel.

Boots: Celeris UK
Had to pick the pink boots today. The purple doesn't really tie in anywhere, but whatever, they're still fun and definitely work with the outfit.

That's it for today! Any favorite parts?

Thursday's Threads

I planned ahead in case we didn't get to ride today due to arctic temps. We did ride today (kind of, very lightly) but I'm sticking with the outfit from Monday because it was perfect for the cold weather. I don't normally ride on Mondays but since I knew Tuesday and Wednesday would be non riding days, I made an exception. We opted for Sunday Funday type rides since it was fake Sunday for us this week. Shiny wanted to be our model and who am I to argue with a mare? Here's what we had on:

Why yes, it was ridiculously cold on Monday! But not below 20. So we carried on.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
This bridle is looking even better now that it has a fresh coat of oil on it!

Bareback Pad: Brockamp
Baby Pad: Wilkers
Girth: Mattes
Quarter Sheet: Equine Wears
This bareback pad is definitely one of my favorite things. Sometimes it really is worth spending a little money on something you'll use and enjoy for many years. My only trouble with it is that my quarter sheets are designed for a long girth with the billets higher up, so I had to get a little creative to use it with the bareback pad. Thankfully, I have these billet straps that are removable that came with our Eskadron glitter pads. I almost threw them out because I don't use them on saddle pads. Glad I didn't! They are perfect for this need.

Boots: Premier Equine
We were using navy pads last week so we had navy boots still for this ride. They did not match our outfit. Hey, it happens!

Here's what I wore:
The colors say spring, the weights say winter!

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS
I really need a new helmet photo. Or better still to swap this one out for a different one for a few weeks.

Sweater: Handmade by my momma
Shirt: Akini
You guys might not know this since I haven't worn anything by her in awhile, but my mom is a really talented knitter. When I was in high school she even owned her own yarn store. She recently became a test knitter for a lady that writes patterns and this sweater is one of those test knits. It's all wool and super warm. I really love it! The shape is very much on trend this year, and it's SO WARM! Perfect for this winter. The shirt underneath is merino and one that I found at TJ Maxx several years ago. (I layered a puffy vest and puffy jacket over top while I was at the barn.)

Belt: Mane Jane

I was very excited to discover that this Mane Jane belt is a very similar shade to the sweater.

Breeches: Romfh Arctic Fleece
My mom actually got me these breeches either last year or the year before, I forget which, for Chanukah. I don't normally wear winter pants as I generally dislike how they feel. But I asked her for these in case I went nutty and decided to show in the winter. I haven't worn them until now because I was saving them for shows, but the cold weather makes you do crazy things! Like wear warm pants. Guys, I LOVE these. I immediately went online to see if I could find another pair or two at a good price. They are still readily available (ten out of ten, highly recommend!) but they are still super full price. You can find the full seat version on sale for a great deal, but they are silicone seat and those mark my saddle. So I did not yet get any more. Maybe next year. They are cut the same as the Sarafina so if you like those and need warm pants, you'll probably love these too.

Socks: Lettia

A few years back Lettia did a collab with Thelwell and they made a bunch of stuff with Thelwell prints on them. When I was a tiny kiddo I used to ride these two ponies with my now best friend in this older lady's backyard. She ran the answering service for my dad's company when it was just starting in a spare room in our house. And when companies used answering services. Anyway, that older lady introduced my now bff and I to the Thelwell comics and I've loved them ever since. So there was no question that I would get some Thelwell socks when they came out! I have baby pads too, but they're blue not purple so we didn't use them this week.

Chaps: Journeyman
Paddock Boots: Celeris UK
I know. I need a new chap photo too. But this is an accurate representation! What I'd really like is to have warm enough weather to wear some fun boots. But alas... it will be chap weather for awhile. Thankfully I still love these very much. I do think I'll have to get some repairs done on them at some point. Some of the stitching holding the legs to the belt is coming undone. But that's really not bad considering how old they are.

So that's what Shiny and I were wearing earlier in the week! Any favorites? I sure had a lot of stories this week... thanks for sticking it out till the end!

Thursday's Threads: Be more extra than Guac edition

Outfit Day!!! I planned ahead this week and did outfit day photos on Tuesday because all the rain was coming. Glad I did that! Although I still got rained on that day too. Shiny is our model this week, and here's what she had on:

I know you can't really tell since Blogger loves to destroy the quality on photos.... But she is indeed just covered in avocados. Which is appropriate since she is more extra than guac.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: Home made by me
Bonnet: Woof Wear, embellished by me
Charm: Pinsnickety

Seriously though Blogger. This photo is zero percent blurry on my phone. Ugh. Anyway, it's possible I went a little too far on this one... But whatever, it's adorable. How ridiculous is that browband?? Haha!

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Lettia
Sheepskin liner: Eskadron
Pin: Pinsnickety
Do you see the lil' Pinsnickety pin on the right bottom? It blends in perfectly with this pad! I've been trying to make use of all my Pinsnickety pins at home since we haven't done' any showing this summer. It's silly to have these cute things and not use them.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me
You really can find fabric with anything at all printed on it. I was so happy to find this near perfect match to the pad for use on my interchangeable boots.

That's what Shiny was wearing this week, and here's what I had on:
That's correct. Instead of wearing avocados I just dressed like one. Hahahaha! Do you see it? The boots are the skin, the breeches are the meat, and the shirt and helmet are the pit!

Helmet: One K
I'm getting a lot more use out of this brown helmet than I ever expected!

Shirt: FitEq
Big fan of these shirts. I have a few in different colors and sleeve lengths. If you like them, grab one now as they are shutting down.

Belt: C4
Of course I have an avocado belt! I can't believe it happened to have pink on it to match the saddle pad.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
The color of these is actually called avocado. So obvious choice for today's outfit. I actually bought them because they also work well with neon outfits.

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
I actually had socks from Lettia that were an exact match to the saddle pad, but I didn't like the material on them, so when I saw D&S had avocado socks I jumped on them for a replacement. These don't have any pink on them obviously, but they are ridiculously cute.

Boots: Imperial Riding
I think these boots are so pretty! But I will admit they are a little too tall for me. They were on sale from Fundis last year around holiday time, and they didn't have the regular height available so I got the talls. I was really right in between anyway, so I figured with heel lifts they would work... And they kind of do, but ever since I tore my ACL, too tall boots are pretty uncomfortable on that one leg. I'm hoping they'll drop a little more once they're more broken in.

Alright, that's it for today! Definitely more extra than guac... Ha! Any favorites from today? I think my favorite is the brow band.

Thursday's Threads: Tropical Edition

Outfit Day! And it's ridiculous. Because we're overdue for some silliness around here. Those palm trees I got for the one jump made me so ridiculously joyful I decided we should dress to match them this week. Shiny was the obvious choice to model for this outfit because there's pink. A lot of pink. Here's what we had on along with our inspirational fence:

I mean really. Could it be any more ridiculous? No. It cannot. But it also is adorable and fun. Life's too short. Wear all the pink.

Here's a better view of Shiny's outfit:
I made her pose with the jump. She thinks I'm annoying. She's not wrong. But it's worth it.

Bridle: Pinnacle
Brow band: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks
I do have a palm leaf brow band, but I didn't see the cob sized one when I was pulling out our outfit. I'm sure it's in the bin, but I thought this bridle would work nicely with the outfit anyway, so I didn't do too much digging. I'm happy with this with the outfit. Not as happy that I got such a poor photo of it though! The sun was not cooperating with the direction Shiny insisted on looking in.

Boots: Uhlan
I stumbled upon this brand when I was hunting for some lightweight pink boots. I really liked the ones that have been advertised on Instagram from Airstride, but the price tag on those is kind of insane for what they are. So I found this brand from the UK with a similar product. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived and are even nicer in real life than they look on the website. If you want a reasonably priced mesh boot, check them out. They come in a variety of colors including brown and black. Not an ad, I don't have affiliate code or anything. I just like these and figured you might too! They do run a little large though, Shiny is wearing XS. I got medium for the boys, and they are pretty generously sized.

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Sheepskin Liner: Eskadron
Saddle Pad: Lettia
You guys have seen this one before, we use it during spirit week at the other barn for Tacky Tourist day. But it's so perfect with our jump! I never imagined I'd have so many occasions to use this pad, but here we are...

That's what Shiny was wearing, and here's my outfit:

Heehee. All the pink shades. And some palm fronds.

Helmet: One K
I considered wearing my pink helmet with this outfit, but it doesn't fit all that well. And with how Al's been lately... I want a good fitting helmet on my head right now. So I went with the black One K with rose gold front shield and rails. So it still has pink on it!

Shirt: Spiced Equestrian
I really like these shirts from Spiced Equestrian. And honestly, I thought they had closed up their shop, but I just googled them and they are very much still around! This shirt isn't there anymore though. Sorry. It's a pretty glorious party shirt. I kind of wish the background was pink though. I guess I could dye it...

Belt: Equetech
I used to be all about subscription boxes. I even used to write reviews on another blog for different boxes. They really are fun! But they are also expensive and so I don't get them anymore. Except for one. Because it's fantastic. It's called Forelock and Fringe and comes from the UK. Anyway, all that to let you know that this very light pink belt came in one of those boxes. They send things frequently from Equetech and the items are all really nice quality.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman in Pinky
I didn't realize the focus was on my shirt in this photo and not the pants. Sorry about that... Kind of hides the stains though, so there's that! So these breeches... I really wanted them, but didn't want to pay retail because they're going to be stained and awful in no time given how light they are and what a slob I am. And at some point I found a pair in size 30 that were brand new but on consignment for a great price. But then I lost some poumnds and they were too big. So I sold them. And I was sad that I no longer had pink breeches. And THEN, I found these. They are not my usual size of 28 though. I took a real chance on these, but the price was right. They are actually kids size 18. Which fit well, but the rise is a little lower than I like. But good enough! And truthfully the length on the legs is a little better than what I normally wear. So it balances out with one thing being less than and another being better than. Right? Right.

 Boots: Celeris
You know? I love these. They're a hair loose in the calf because these were my old measurements, but not so loose that they aren't comfortable or rub. I really just love the boots from this brand. They're great quality and so comfortable.

That's it for today! Any favorites? My favorite is still the palm trees on the jump. They're fantastic. I have no regrets about spending money I shouldn't have on those. NONE!
