Truthful Tuesday: the one about Jorge

You all remember Jorge right?
That's him there, when we first met.
Jorge is my truck. He's been somewhat neglected this summer since I didn't have any place to bring any horses. I did hop in him now and then to spin his tires and take him for a ride. And a few weeks ago he brought the horses over to the boarding barn. (His first time hauling!) We've been caught in a bit of a winter weather pattern here since Sunday, so I opted to take him to the barn that morning and planned to drive him for the next few days. But alas. It seems Jorge here is about as reliable as my equine. When I got in to drive home for lunch yesterday I noticed a LOT of oil on the ground. I very much hoped it wasn't coming from my truck. I was parked in a pretty full lot, so it could be from anywhere really... I hoped. Well. I get just about home and the oil light comes on. Poop. Fortunately, I have oil, so I add a quart, and call the dealership. Jorge is still very much under warranty being under 2 years old and only having 9000 miles on him. The dealership is pretty close to work, so I went straight there from my house at lunch time. By the time I got there, my new quart of oil was pretty much gone. Sorry environment. I haven't heard yet from them... Hopefully they can patch him up quickly. They didn't have a loaner for me (annoying) so I've been mooching rides off one of my coworkers who lives near me. It finally stopped snowing a few hours ago, and the roads are dry now, so I can use my car again at least. But sheesh. Come on truck! This is already his second time with a major problem, and he's not yet 2!
But none of that is my confession today. My confession today is that sometimes I get annoyed with myself for being too logical. I wanted to be REALLY whiny about him breaking down at the WORST times always. But logical old me was all, "well, you mostly only drive him when you NEED to, so of course it's going to be at a bad time". Logical me is annoying. I just wanted to pout!

  1. We have had SO much trouble with our Ford truck! We joke that it was made by the C team on a Friday afternoon. It tows great, but it's had engine issues, sensor issues, electrical issues... As soon as my car is paid off, we're ditching it and getting something else. Hopefully it lives that long...

    1. Ugh, I know same! But I find the GMC seats really uncomfortable. And it really does tow great... Fortunately this time it turned out to be just a hole in the oil filter. So not actually a truck issue though it seemed like one. Phew!

  3. I hate when my logical side is right! She can be so annoying and know-it-all. I would be frustrated too if my less than 2 year old truck was having difficulties.

    1. Right? Just let me whine inner logic. Sheesh.
Fortunately this time it was just a hole in the oil filter. Just a weird thing that can happen I guess.

  4. Jorge, dude, wft?!? Sorry that your truck is having issues with that few miles on it. Hopefully he is fixed soon... I would make a joke about buying a GM instead, but my logical side says that isn't really helpful. Darn logical side.

    1. Hahahaha! I really had considered it. But I find the seats really uncomfortable. I think I'm too short for GM. He's all fixed up and back home. Had a hole in the oil filter, so wasn't really his fault this time.

  6. You need to tell Logical You to shut up and let Whiney you fly your flag! I'd be super annoyed to have that many issues with a truck with 9000 miles- no matter how infrequently you drive it!!! Poor you!

  7. ugh being too logical is the WORST when all i want to do is flip a table over a rage quit.... bleh, i feel ya there. glad you didn't end up stranded or in a worse situation, but still. that's *extremely* shitty to have already had so many troubles with this truck. granted i don't drive mine enough either so it has its own share of problems too... but it's also 20yrs old with 200K+ miles, it's earned the right to be coddled a little!!
