Thursday's Threads: Rainy Florida Edition

Outfit Day! Today is hopefully our only really bummer of a weather day, so today's outfit kinda looks more like something I would be wearing at home now... But it's still a fun change since it's not a riding outfit. Anyway, here's what I have on today:

It's currently 59 degrees (F) so long sleeves are a must today. Also, yay for a full length mirror in my stateroom!

Top: Tahari
I haven't been clothes shopping much in recent years (other than riding stuff) but I had some rewards certificates for Marshalls/TJ Maxx that I needed to use soon. I popped over to one of them earlier this month and found this cute top in the clearance section. It's perfect for today!

Belt: Tory Burch
This is an oldie. I got it years ago on one of these Florida trips at the Tory Burch outlet.

Jeans: True Religion
Technically these pants are a little out of style in that the rise is on the lower side. But I'm an old woman and will wear what I please, so they're still in my rotation. Plus, I love the stitching on them. True Religion are my favorite jeans. They're usually the appropriate length on me, and have room in the butt without the waist being huge. It's nice when you find a good fitting brand. Jeans can be tricky!

Shoes: Sperry
I mean.... I'm on a boat. So boat shoes are the obvious choice. I also have flip flops here, but they're not ideal in the rain.

And that's it for today! Short and sweet for a vacation day.

Thursday's Threads: a non horsey version!

When I started Thursday's Threads so many years ago, the focus was on whatever I wore to work that day. It only later became about equestrian fashion. Let's be real, equestrian fashion is way more fun than work clothes. BUT, I don't have a riding outfit to share today for multiple reasons. First, the item I've been waiting for is shipping back and forth across New Jersey for the last week and half and still has not arrived. I thought there'd be a chance it would arrive yesterday so I didn't bother snapping outfit pics yesterday. And then today, it's pouring rain, so riding didn't happen. So this is kind of a throwback to the early days of Amateur at Large with a non horsey outfit! Here's what I'm wearing on this rainy New England day:

Pretty simple. I don't have much on the agenda today other than feeding the horses and doing some clerical stuff, so comfy casual was the way to go!

Top: Ralph Lauren
I like the shoulder detail and the faux leather elbow patches. Makes this otherwise simple tee shirt a little more exciting!

Belt: Sandy Duftler
This olive belt with the rose gold spur buckle was a birthday gift this year from my dad and stepmom. They have great taste!

Jeans: True Religion
True Religion jeans seem to fit me really well, but they're often stupid pricey. Fortunately, there is an outlet near my house so (pre-covid) I was able to stock up on reasonably priced fancy jeans. I like the heavy stitching they do also. I mostly wear breeches all day every day these days, so it's nice to put on a pair of jeans now and then.

Sneakers: Fabletics
I used to be on a test panel for Fabletics and actually got these shoes for free in exchange for testing them out and reporting back on them. They're not sneakers I would use for running, but they're great for walking in, or wearing out in the rain to go visit Pammon in his field. I know that last one for sure since that's what they did earlier today.

So that's it this week. Sorry for no horsey clothes, but hopefully my meandering item will arrive soon and I can show you guys my homage to back to school outfit next week. It's pretty silly, I think you'll all find it entertaining!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! Today's outfit doubled as a travel home outfit and then morphed into a riding outfit. I was supposed to come home last night, but the flight before ours was delayed, so we opted to come home this morning instead. We'll start with the travel version.
Also... I don't have an arm party to share today. Sorry! It was kind of a long day.

Top: Ariat
Vest: Eddie Bauer
Florida was pretty warm, but I wanted layers since I knew CT would not be all that warm. Adding a vest to a quarter zip is the best way to layer for a trip north!

Belt: Mane Jane
I don't wear this side nearly enough! I love the patent croc pattern, and the chocolate color is really pretty with this top.

Jeans: True Religion
I love the two toned heavy stitching on these pants. I also love True Religion jeans in general because they have room for my bum in them!

Shoes: Sperry
These are aging for sure... but I love the metallic color of these!

Once I got home, I was SO excited to go get the short kids, and then head to the barn to see the tall kids! So I figured it would be quickest to just alter my outfit for the barn.

I swapped the vest out for a warmer jacket. But otherwise just changed my pants.

Helmet: One K
Recycled photo, but that's the helmet I wore.

Top: Ariat
Better view of the print! I think this hunt scene is super cute.

Belt: Mane Jane
Same belt! Looks even better with the breeches!

Breeches: Horseware
I really love corduroy breeches for the winter. These are the tan ones. I have them in chocolate too.

Boots: DeNiro
Also a recycled photo, but those are the boots I wore today. It was so great to see and ride Eros. I missed that boy!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! Not only do I have a riding outfit to share, but it was a THEMED riding outfit! Because Saturday was Star Wars day, and you all know I love a good theme. I'll start there since I've been shorting you guys in the riding outfit department.

I think we can all agree that the droids really are the stars of that franchise... Them and Chewy (RIP).

Helmet: One K

I didn't get a photo of it on... but hey, at least I remembered a photo!

Top: Fifth Sun
Cartoon R2D2 is adorable. And also comfy.

Belt: Buckle Down
When I was in high school, I had a belt that had a seat belt buckle. It was rubber and had beer caps all around it (I realize this was pretty inappropriate... I didn't wear it to school). I still have that belt, and it surprisingly still fits (it's adjustable obviously)! Anyway, I've always liked the seat belt buckle design, and now there's a company that makes them in all kinds of patterns. This Stars Wars belt is one of them.

Breeches: Ariat
These are probably my favorite style of Ariat breeches. They're really expensive, so I only get them when I can find them on clearance, but honestly, they're probably worth full price. These are extra fun because they're the colors over at Eros' barn. And they match R2D2.

Pre (and post) ride Shoes: Sperry
Sperry did a Star Wars collaboration a couple years ago. And I think these are awesome. You can disagree, but you would be incorrect.

Boots: DeNiro
I figured I should just continue with all the blue, so I wore the DeNiro's. They are so freaking comfortable you guys!

Eros dressed up too! (His outfit from the Houndstooth Horse.) I had a bonnet and polos for him, but we wound up not using those. The polos didn't wrap correctly so the R2D2 was at the back of his leg which looked silly. And I just got a little lazy about the bonnet.

But he did wear the baby pad!

And lastly, I remembered to dress the phone up too... All in!
So that was fun! Pretty sure they've decided I'm the weirdest person ever at the barn. They're not wrong. Haha! Life's too short to be boring.

I have what I think is a fun work outfit today too!
Top: Sweet Iron Co
This polo shirt is all Amanda's fault. I bought it awhile back when she posted about the brand. I really like the shirts they make. The quality and fit are fantastic. I may have another on the way...

Belt: Buckle Down
Kind of funny that I wore both these belts for the same post... I'm impressed that the belt print and the shirt print are practically identical in size. That's something!

Jeans: True Religion
I think the gold stitching on these pants is SUPER fun! A little extra color to go with all this black and white.

Shoes: Sperry
Yep, I found houndstooth Sperry's! Such a good find.

Arm Party!
Lefty:
I kept the black, white, and gold them going as best I could here... With my other favorite bit bracelet!

Righty:
I doubled up the Hermes bracelets today since I have both a black and a white. I meant to have my fitbit on too, but alas, I left it on the charger. Hopefully I'll remember to grab it at lunch.

So that's it for today! Any favorites? What are you wearing?

Thursday's Threads

Happy Outfit Day! So yesterday, as I already whined, was full of annoyances. Due to that, I didn't get out of work until 5:30 which made me 30 minutes behind schedule for the evening. Boo. That left me a bit scattered and I totally forgot to take outfit photos. Fear not though, I remembered this morning and thus bring you a flat version of what I wore to ride last night!
I may have fished that stuff out of the laundry... excuse the wrinkles.

Top: Eddie Bauer
I couldn't get an accurate photo of the color, but I think you've all seen this one before. It's a nice heathered green.

Belt: Mane Jane
I went with the hunter green Mane Jane strap last night. The other side of this one is black and that's what I wore to work yesterday. So convenient to have two belts in one!

Breeches: Horseware
I've decided that my corduroy breeches are the warmest, so I've pretty much only been wearing them when it's cold out. Last night was ridiculously cold, and I went with the tan ones.

Boots: Tredstep
recycled photo...
Alright, these have won my cold little heart. Last night when I arrived at the barn, my truck said it was 17 degrees out. It was probably a bit warmer in the indoor, but not significantly. My toes never even felt cool, let alone cold. I LOVE these, and highly recommend if you want a boot for very cold winters.

So that's what I had on to ride. I wore my embroidered farm jacket over top and my black snakeskin one K helmet. Ok, now on to today's outfit!

It MIGHT get to 30 today for a high, so clearly, once again, the theme is WARM. But I'm also sick of winter, so I'm trying to push spring along with some more spring like colors.

Sweater: The Republic
It reads Eclectic which honestly describes me pretty well. It's a fancy word for weird after all! Hahaha! I love the colors though, pink and purple were my jam growing up.

Belt: Swanky Saddle
I actually think this belt strap is from someplace other than Swanky Saddle, but I couldn't tell you where it came from. It's 100 years old (give or take). But the buckle definitely came from SS and I love it so much! I don't wear it nearly enough.

Jeans: True Religion
Couple of things here... First, having a True Religion outlet so close by has been a real detriment to my wallet. Second, real talk here, these jeans are probably a size too small. But I got myself in! I HAD to wear the pretty pink stitching with my pink and purple sweater. HAD TO.

Shoes: Forever
These sneakers I think came from one of Zulily's huge sales, and are basically from a no name cheapo designer. BUT they are full on pink glitter and therefore pretty amazing. They're also super comfy, so who cares who made them? I think I paid like $8 for them. Well spent my friends.

Arm Party!
Lefty:
Lefty is sporting a wrap bracelet and a cuff bracelet that I had made awhile back. Love the glitter! And the colors are PERFECT with the sweater.

Righty:
Righty is totally eclectic today! (See what I did there?) I've mixed my metals (rose and yellow gold) and my materials (string, metal, leather).
First up is a waxed cord friendship bracelet from Pura Vida with a dainty little rose gold rose. Next is a vintage bracelet I snagged on Poshmark. The wrap bracelet is made from coiled string. It came sold by the inch and I just added a clasp to make it a bracelet. The last one is a spikey bracelet from BaubleBar that I bought YEARS ago.

So that's it for today! Any favorites? Has spring started to show itself where you are yet?
