Truthful Tuesday: the one where I go to Walmart

I regularly go into places like Walmart and Target thinking I don't need to grab a cart on my way in. This is very frequently a large error in my judgement, but it does allow me to skip arm day at the gym. (lol, like I go to the gym, and have an actual arm day! Hahahahaha)
So on Sunday, I stopped at Walmart as the last of my several errands I was running. I needed a few things, but the largest of which wouldn't fit in a cart anyway. So I consciously decided not to grab one. Which would have been fine if I'd looked at my list prior to grabbing previously mentioned oversize object. But let's back up and trace my steps for the full entertainment value of this story.
Now, normally, I time my Walmart trips when there are very few people there. Like first thing in the morning on a Saturday, or late night during the week. Our Walmart is really tiny as compared to most, and is not 24 hours. (Just for reference.) Anyway, I went in there at one of the worst times. It was around noon on a Sunday. So fairly busy. Yuck. So people-y in there. I needed a bottle of Murphy's Oil Soap, toilet paper, some yarn, a new toilet brush for the barn bathroom, some storage bins (previously mentioned oversized item), and one more tombstone for my jump.
I think I'm being smart and collecting all the small items before heading to the storage bin section. Which I might add is very close to the registers. Such a good plan! But you know about the best laid plans and all...
So I get over to the bin section and am looking at the different sizes. I needed one for some saddle pads, one for the extra Halloween decor (that will also fit what's currently in use for later), and one giant one for unopened grain bags because the chipmunks keep getting into my grain inventory. I find the size I need for the grain, and work on getting that out first. I had to put all my other stuff down to unstack the bin I wanted. In the process, I dropped the Murphy's. Of course it has to fall cap first and explode all over the floor. Why wouldn't it? And there is not an employee in sight of course. So I pick up all my stuff and go over to the register area so they can get someone to come clean up my mess. Go back to the bin aisle (aka: the scene of the crime) and proceed to pick out what I need. Now, I needed a new bottle of soap, but figured I'd do the bins first so that I could hang out there until someone shows up to clean up the soap. I don't want anyone falling in my puddle! Some lady accidentally steps in a little bit of the soap, and is all I can't believe they would just leave that here! And I said, "no that was me, I went to get someone to clean it up, but no one has shown up yet." And of course I get the dirtiest look. Whatever lady, it's just soap. I finish getting all my bins together, still no one has come to clean the soap. I can't stay all day though, so I had to abandon the aisle eventually. Hopefully no one slipped in it.
So now I have all these bins, stacked inside each other efficiently, plus my other odds and ends. I pick everything up which is getting pretty heavy and totally awkward, and head over to get a new bottle of soap. That's when I realized I had forgotten my tombstone. Wanna know where they keep those? ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORE. So I schlep all the way over there to find exactly one left. Thank goodness. I would have been pretty unhappy if I heaved all that stuff over there for nothing. Now that I have everything on my list (plus a bottle of apple cider which wasn't making the load any lighter) I dragged myself and my load of stuff back across the store to the registers. Finally.
You guys, it's two days later and I'm still sore!

Moral of today's confession: Always grab a cart.

  1. I am the worst about this too and then end up with all kinds of items precariously stacked in my arms trying frantically to balance it all 😂 comforting to know I'm not alone!

  2. I do this every time I go to the grocery store, "just to get milk." I will never learn.

    1. I always get the little basket at the grocery store and the proceed to fill it to the point that not everything fits and it weighs about 65 lbs.

  3. I'm so bad about not grabbing a cart too, only I also am too lazy to carry everything if it's a nuisance so I'll just leave what I don't NEED need and get mad about how I didn't get a cart and come back the next day. Because two trips is easier than just grabbing a cart the first time?

  5. I hate when I have all the stuff, then realize I need a cart, then realize carts are outside the doors and I'm going to set off sensors if I get one while holding my stuff, then don't want to make a stuff pile in case people steal my stuff...

    It's rough.

    1. Yes! I always worry if I put my stuff down, someone will think it's abandoned and take it to put away. #firstworldproblems

  6. I try to not get the cart bc I know I'll buy more stuff if I have a cart.

    1. That is my theory at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Can only buy what I can carry!

  7. UGH walmarts. Why must they put the pet stuff on the opposite side of the food? LOL nine times out of ten i need kitty litter and MILK (They are three hundred miles between those two locations) SO your arms don't only get a work out your legs do too. I had to chuckle reading your story. Getting those bins apart is a workout as well. :) HA hope your arms feel better soon!

    1. Right?! Fortunately, ours is a small Walmart, they don't really have groceries even, just a tiny food section. So it's not THAT far. But still.
Arms are much better today! Only took three days! hahaha
