Thursday's Threads: Thanksgiving Edition

Nothing I love more than a good theme! Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that children terrify me, I would have made a fabulous kindergarten teacher. I have a partially new Thanksgiving outfit this year and Eros is our model. Here's what he was wearing:

He's so photogenic. Even with a too long mane and a dreary day. And also, do you guys notice how trim he looks? He certainly isn't a big fan of diets, but he's really looking pretty good.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Home made by me
This part of the outfit is not new. We've used it every year for the last many. But it's adorable! I made the brow band from a dog leash.

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Mattes
Baby Pad: Ogilvy (embellished by me)

The last many years we've been using the turkey pad and boot set that I had made, but I don't love the pads. So I decided to put together something new this year, and this is that! I thought this ribbon was super cute.

Polos: Centaur, embellished by me
But honestly, this ribbon was even cuter! It says Gobble Til You Wobble (which you'll see that phrase again shortly) and then the other wrap says It's Turkey Time. So cute!

Okay, that's what E was wearing, and here's what I had on:
My outfit is not new. But it's a solid Thanksgiving effort.

Helmet: One K
I went with the brown one for today's outfit. To match the Turkey. I would have loved to use the orange rails, but this helmet doesn't have the color change system.

Hoodie: Unsure of brand
You've all seen this at some point over the years. I've had it forever and ever. I was very excited when I found that ribbon that said the said the same thing!

Belt: Home made by me
This is the same ribbon that's on the boots. Obviously I had to use it on my interchangeable belt too!

Breeches: Vestrum
The Halloween breeches double very nicely as Thanksgiving breeches too.

Boots: Horka
I thought these were perfectly appropriate for this outfit, but I also wore them because we got so much rain and everything was muddy. These are my muddy day boots.

That's it for today! What do you think of our new Thanksgiving set? I hope all of you that celebrate had a wonderful Thanksgiving today! I definitely did, and made time to reflect on all the things I'm thankful for while I did chores this morning. Among the many things I'm grateful for is all of you guys. I really enjoy interacting with all of you and following along on your adventures with your horses. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday's Threads: Thanksgiving Edition

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I didn't actually ride my horses today, but I planned ahead and dressed Shiny up in her Thanksgiving finest yesterday. She is our model this week, and here's what she wore:

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Browband: Homemade by me

I thought about making new funny beaded brow bands for Thanksgiving, but honestly, I really don't think I can do better than this one anyway. Also, Shiny got clipped last week, and she looks so cute!

Saddle: Custom Saddlery
Saddle Pad: Equine Star
Turkey Pad! I think these came out so cute. And yes, Shiny is back in the belly band. She's a little more sensitive after being clipped and was starting to get a rub from my spur.

Boots: Equine Star
Seriously, I think the turkey print is the best one of my Equine Star prints. Probably anyway.

So that's what Shiny wore. I forgot to take pics of my outfit, but I do have a work around... First, this photo below is what I wore with Shiny's outfit, but I'm on Al in the screen shot:

I'm wearing the same Samshield as always and the newest De Niro boots. The breeches are ROMFH Sarafina Euro Grip and the color is maple. I REALLY like them. Highly recommend. I'm also wearing an old Ariat sweater that is olive with tan elbow patches, and it's all topped off with an Eddie Bauer vest that's black.

And to make up for the lack of outfit photos, I also have both Thanksgiving outfits that I wore today. First up is what I wore to the barn to take my ponies for a hand walk.

That's a Tipsy Elves sweater, the jeans are True Religion, and the belt is Lilo. It's on sale right now over at Chagrin Saddlery if you want one!

And this is what I wore to my brother's house for T-day dinner:
It's pretty much all generic Amazon purchases. Except the shoes which are also generic but they came from Zulily awhile ago. It's tough to see in the photo, but the sweater has pumpkin pie slices around the sleeve and some acorns up at the top. It's pretty cute.

And that's it for Thanksgiving outfit fun this year! Hope you all had a lovely day!

What's Up Wednesday

It was SO NICE to have a four day weekend last week. (Sorry to anyone who didn't!) We actually got out early on Wednesday also so I was done nice and early at the barn that day too. I love my horses and spending as much time as possible with them. But it's also nice to get home before 9 pm once in awhile!

Thanksgiving was super fun at the barn. I didn't think anyone was there when I arrived, but actually there were a few people, and they were scheming up some Thanksgiving shenanigans. Namely: Bareback obstacle races. Obviously, I have the best equine in the barn for such things-Shiny!

We struggled with the "gate" which surprised me, but I guess it's something to work on. We weren't alone in our struggle and we actually took the lead after our run. Unfortunately, the best had yet to go and we wound up 4th. But whatever, it was so fun! Shiny was super game. I didn't expect her to get so into it, but she totally did. I just love her.

I'd like to point out that my little pony is the widest horse in this photo...

After races were complete I flatted Eros and Pammon (Bellino had a day off) and then picked my stalls. Staff had the day off, and I figured both they and the horses would appreciate that. Bellino is the worst housekeeper of the bunch. Not gonna lie, glad I don't have to clean his stall often!

The rest of my day was dedicated to preparing my meal. I facetimed with my mom while I ate it so that was nice.

Friday, a lot of the horses were WILD. Including Eros which is always surprises me. I tried to ride him outside but wound up just cantering laps until he wore himself out a little. It's nice to see him feeling good though! I let the trainer ride Bellino who was also kind of wild. Pammon and Shiny were both good though.

Saturday was lesson day! Bellino's ride to Florida was postponed so I got to lesson on both him and Shiny. Shiny went first and she was so great! We jumped a 2'3" vertical which I'm pretty sure is the biggest we've ever jumped together. So proud of her!
Bellino was somehow still wild for my lesson. The nice thing about him is that although he does get quite strong (I really think I got run away with a few times...) he never offers up any dirty moves. He just goes fast and pulls a little. Nothing compared to Eros when he's excited to be jumping! He and I also jumped a little bigger, probably 2'6" ish? I think one or two could have been 2'9". I'm kind of bummed he's leaving now that I'm starting to find the rider that used to live in my body. Always the way though isn't it? I don't have any video from this lesson (boo) but I got this cute photo of us.

Sunday was an easy day for everyone. I flatted all four, though Shiny I mostly sat on bareback while we watched a jumping lesson. Sunday Funday amiright?!

The rest of Sunday I spent starting to organize the holiday gifts. Several are first arriving over the next week or two, but at least I got a jump on sorting what's here. How funny are these glasses I got for my nieces:

Also made pumpkin bread at some point over the weekend (I think it was Friday):

It was delicious. I froze one loaf but managed to polish the other off in like two days. Oops. So good!

Last night Eros and I had our flat lesson which is always a killer. He's the most fun to flat because he knows all the tricks and does them so easily. Haunches in, shoulder in, leg yield, half pass... I think there's a canter pirouette in there too, but I don't really know how to ask for it. He's just so fun! BUT, he's also a total body workout. He works every muscle in my body, especially at the canter. I find it really hard to sit his canter and it definitely wears me out fast. Hopefully though, if we keep up the Tuesday flat lesson, I'll get stronger and it will get easier. Though probably he'll also get stronger and we'll just stay in the same place. Haha! Whatever. He's perfect.

Shiny worked hard last night too. They both got sweaty so I wound up with both on the crossties for late night grooming. How adorable are they?!

That's it from here! Did you all have a nice Thanksgiving (in the US) and/or weekend? Do anything fun?

Thursday's Threads: Thanksgiving edition

The fun thing about Thanksgiving is that it always falls on Thursday's Threads day (aside from the other fun thing which is that it's a holiday based almost entirely on eating).  I think you've already seen my outfits today as they are repeats, but whatever still fun. Maybe next year I'll update that Thanksgiving garb. Anyway, I have two outfits to share. First up is what I rode in today:

It's been pretty cold here lately, but today it was 60. Weather is weird, but I was happy to ditch all the layers and feature my Thanksgiving hoodie.

Helmet:

Still reusing photos...
Still loving this helmet.

Sweatshirt: No idea where this came from...
Heh... I think it's pretty funny. And appropriate since I ate so much I definitely have developed a wobble. Might be the wine... Hard to say for sure.

Belt: Boy O' Boy Bridleworks
I wore my BabingtonStrong belt since it's partially orange. Does it match? Not really. What can you do?

Breeches: Ralph Lauren
These aren't really riding breeches. I found them years ago at the Ralph Lauren outlet on sale for $40. Figured I'd try riding in them. Totally do the job!

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers
MAYBE I fell victim to the VIP pre-black Friday sale at D&S. Might have happened. Aren't these cute though?

Boots: Celeris
Yep. Recycling this photo too

Guys. I'm having some snap problems with these boots. Not the typical problem in which the snaps don't stay shut. Oh no. The opposite. I can't get them off! Anyone ever run into this? How do I fix it?

So that's what I wore riding today, but I also have a comfy Thanksgiving at home alone outfit.
Indeed, that is a Taco Turkey. I don't recall the circumstances in which I purchased the outfit... so I don't fully remember what the deal was with the tacos... But it's still Thanksgiving-y.

Sweater: Tipsy Elves
Okay, well it's actually a Friendsgiving sweater. But close enough.

Leggings: Tipsy Elves
Drummies and Tacos! What more could you want?

Socks: Not sure of brand
I didn't actually have thanksgiving socks. But I DID have taco socks. And they're a perfect match.

And that's it for today! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

What's Up Wednesday

Last week was Thanksgiving here in the US, so that meant a couple of days off work, tons of delicious food, and LOTS OF PONY TIME! My favorite things!
Thanksgiving day they do mucking and mamosas in the morning at the boarding barn. I got there a little late, so I missed the mamosas, but I did clean my horses' stalls! (Such a good boarder I am!) Unfortunately, being the world's slowest stall cleaner (seriously, I've earned that title annually) I used up all my barn time doing that and didn't have time left to ride. Oops. Maybe I should have gotten up a little earlier... Anyway, it was great to get to see them on a holiday still. That is one really nice feature, we aren't forbidden to see our fur kids on holidays. (I always hated that boarding in other places.)
Always something in his mouth. Always.
After barn time, I got cleaned up and headed over to my brother's for the big meal. Everything was delicious, and it was so nice not to have to leave in the middle of everything to go feed the horses dinner! I didn't get any photos, too busy eating and enjoying the family. But trust me when I say we had ALL THE FIXINGS! And then some.
After dinner I got to play My Little Ponies with the nieces.
Those Equestria dolls though? Super creepy.
And then I had to go to sleep because Turkey Coma. Not too much rest for the weary though! I had to be up early to get all three horses ridden (or hand walked) by 11:30 so I could meet my family for second Thanksgiving up at my little brother's grandma's house. She's 99.5 and not really able to leave the house, so we brought Thanksgiving to her (just a day late). Instead of a repeat meal though, my stepmom made a roast and some delicious sides. And I got to meet my newest fur niece, Lucy:

She loves me. Clearly.
Saturday I flatted the horses again, but this time had plenty of time to spare. Everyone has been really good, except maybe Pammon who keeps biting holes in my outter wear on our walks. I did finally realize though, that he is 100% Buddy the Elf.

Hear me out. Everything makes him happy and all he wants to do is give hugs. Not to mention his affinity for sweets.

Anyway, I spent the rest of Saturday working on Mt Laundry and cleaning out closets. This would be a common theme for any free time the rest of the weekend.

Sunday I got to have a lesson on Eros, and you guys! He was so perfect.

Well. Mostly perfect. He was super lazy on the flat, which I found surprising. He had a really easy week. Step mom rode him Tuesday/Wednesday, he had Thursday off, and Sunday was the first time he even jumped all week. But I'm not one to complain about quiet horses. Much my preference honestly. But laziness on the flat aside, he was absolutely perfect over fences. I even have a video of our last little course! We have lots to work on still, but I'm so happy with where we are finally.

After horsing I picked up a bunch of chinese food to eat for the next several meals. Chinese food is the perfect comfort food when we're having a snow storm. I ate some of it with these guys before tackling Mt Laundry again.
I love my pony 4 a ponies. I have a Bud, Jampy (thanks to you all!), and Rio. <3
The horses had Monday off, and then there was an accident at the barn earlier in the day Tuesday. It's not my business to share, and it was just a freak thing. No humans were injured, but there was a loss. They asked that we respect the owner's privacy and closed the barn for the day while they did what needed doing. So my tall kids had an extra day of vacation, and I will hug them extra tightly this evening, that's for certain.

And, good news on the truck! Somehow my oil filter got a hole in it. They aren't sure how that could or would happen, but it did. Thankfully, the fix is an oil and filter change which I was due for anyway, so it was cheap and not actually a big deal. Even though it seemed like one! So yay for some good news! I pick him up at lunch time today.

Did you all have a good week? Those that celebrated Thanksgiving, did you have a nice one? Anything fun happening? Tell me about your week in the comments!
