Thursday's Threads: Nantucket Edition

 

Outfit Day! I was excited to finally get this one put together because it's been something I wanted to do for awhile now. My family used to vacation pretty regularly on Nantucket island... and in fact they still do! they're all there this weekend but I'm not able to join because I have braiding jobs lined up. Bummer for me, but big sigh of relief for my wallet! Ha! Anyway, today's outfit is dedicated to my love for Nantucket. Al is our model because he looks stunning in Nantucket red (which is really kinda pink...) Here's what we had on:

He might be a special boy in many ways, but he is lovely to look at. I think he's actually smiling in this photo. Definitely understood the assignment.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling

Brow band: Made by me

I'm experimenting with an interchangeable brow band. This one has done the job well enough, but I think if I ever were to market it, I'd want it leather backed with leather loops. But for now, just for me at home, this is working out just fine! Also, you might notice a different bit (again). I was able to find some cherry roller bits like the full cheek he likes but in a loose ring and it's not copper like his other one. This one was only $30 so even though it's not exactly like the one I really like, it's tons more affordable and will work perfectly for his fun bridles so we don't have to keep switching bits around. He seemed happy enough in it. I think he does prefer a fixed cheek in general though. But for a savings of $130 he can deal with the loose ring once in awhile.

Boots: Premier Equine, embellished by me

I love when I can find a fabric with print that fits well onto our boot straps. I hunted for probably two years to find this! I really wanted Nantucket red, and also wanted the island outline. But a lot of prints are too big. This one is maybe a little small for the boots, but it's good enough.

Saddle: Butet

Yep, I got a lot of use out of this fabric. And also got pretty lucky that the print was small enough to work for all three parts of Al's outfit! 

So that's what he was wearing, and here's what I had on:

I really wasn't sure which boots to wear. But I thought these felt kind of nautical and islandy. Plus I haven't worn them in forever, so it was time to bust them back out.

Helmet: One K Avance CCS MIPS

Blues are always islandy, plus it matches the boots nicely. Haven't worn this one in awhile either!

Tee Shirt: Not sure on brand

Nantucket has beaches that you can drive on and set up a tailgate party right on the beach! But to be able to do that you have to have a special pass for your car. Every season they switch up the colors, and the pass has become kind of iconic. So that's what is printed on this tee. People leave them all on their beach cars year after year, and my dad's cheap is starting to get a pretty good collection on it!

Belt: BeRibbon (Etsy)

The belt has that same iconic beach pass on it too! I really wanted to do this for the browband instead of the fabric I had, but I couldn't find the ribbon for sale on its own. Probably could have asked this belt maker if they'd sell me some, but it's okay. I think it all comes together fine as it is. 

Breeches: Horseware

Nothing says New England Island like seersucker! So obviously the seersucker breeches had to come out for this outfit. These are roughly 1 million years old, but they still fit! Definitely not as comfy as the newer fabrics though. 

Boots: Celeris

You guys have seen these before but it's been a long while. I snagged these for a SONG in a demo sale from Reiten-Leider. They were super cheap for two reasons: first, few people have tiny feet and full calves but secondly because they have no zipper. Instead they have rhinestones up the back just like up on the tops of these. They're super fun! The no zipper thing is a little annoying, but once you get the hang of fast lacing, it's not that big of a deal.

Thursday's Threads

 

Outfit day again! And I'm afraid I'm pretty much still a failure at Thursday's Threads in the winter. But hey, at least I made some effort... Not much, but some. Al will be our model today! Here's what he wore:

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Mattes
Breastplate: Kavalkade

I know, you can't really see the breastplate in this photo. One of these weeks I'll get a better shot of it. I bought this one a few weeks ago and I really am happy with it, especially for the price point. It came from Equizone. This Mattes pad is one of the first that I bought a couple of years ago. This one I had made with three rows of rope piping. You may (or may not) have noticed last week that some of my Mattes pads only have one row of rope. That's because as I needed to order larger quantities of them, I looked for ways to save money. And less piping seemed like a good way to cut costs. Though I do admit it is prettier this way.

Bridle: Camelot

Okay you caught me. First, yes, it's a recycled photo. I forgot to grab a new one with his current bit on it. And secondly, you are right, this bridle does not match our saddle pad. But don't worry, you'll see shortly that his boots don't either.

Boots: Horze

It was far too cold for me to go to the shed and get the green boots. These are doing the job just fine. Besides, navy looks just fine with green!

And here's the next fail... I somehow deleted the full length photo of my outfit for this week. Oops. So you'll just have to use your imagination. 

Helmet: One K

Yep. My helmet doesn't go with the outfit either. What can you do?

Hoodie: Nantucket gift shop brand

This is the softest sweatshirt I have ever owned and I hope it never falls apart because I love it so much. Other than the fact that it's ridiculously soft, it's just a plain ol' hoodie. Perfect for this winter weather.

Belt: The Sugar Lady

This is Rio's belt. I still love it just as much as I did the day it arrived. It's so unique, and I love that it lets me keep a little Rio in my day-to-day to life. 

Breeches: Horseware

It's been in the teens and low 20's again (Fahrenheit) here again, so I've been living in the corduroy breeches lately. I'm a little worried as some of them are getting a little thin. I hope they make it through a few more seasons!

Socks: Dreamers and Schemers

I bought these several years ago, and really want to get some new ones with my updated (cleaned up...) logo. January and February are always expensive months though, so that will have to wait a bit. 

Boots: Tredstep

You had to know I'd be wearing these still! I hope to never have to wear any other boots in the winter. Also some good news for anyone wanting a pair. These are discontinued and I thought basically extinct, but Tack of the Day got some final closeout pairs in and have a them available. However, they only have the wide calf. If you wear a normal size calf, you can probably get away with them if you wear a thick pair of socks, since the laces offer some extra adjustability. If you wear a slim calf, I don't think they'd work, but you might be able to have them taken in. I wish I had the extra cash to grab another back up pair! Maybe they'll still have my size in a few months. Fingers crossed!

And that's it for today! I won't pretend like I'm going to do a better job at Thursday's Threads next week. I probably won't. But maybe we'll get lucky? 

Thursday's Threads

 Outfit Day! It's a short one today, just a riding outfit to share. The horses didn't dress to match this time.

I've been cleaning out the laundry room and some closets and I've discovered all kinds of treasures. Including these tops that still had tags on them...

Helmet: One K CCS MIPS

Went with the green inserts to match my outfit.

Top and Vest: Le Mieux

I got these at the end of last season on sale and proceeded to tuck them away and forget all about them. Glad I discovered them now so I can actually wear them. I'm not always into orange, but I like just a little with the olive.

Belt: Mane Jane

I wish I had thought to wear my orange ostrich strap! It would have looked fab with this outfit... but alas, I didn't think of it. Next time! Instead I went with this olive strap. Also a good choice!

Breeches: Horseware

I wore regular breeches the other day instead of corduroy... and boy are these a lot warmer! 

Boots: Tredstep

Not silly enough to wear any other boots this time of year though! Seriously. I love these. So very much. I've occasionally toyed with the idea of sheepskin lined Celeris boots... but I think I'm sticking with these.

Thursday's Threads

I took the fourth off from blogging, so Thursday's Threads is a day late, but it's totally on theme for 4th of July so it's worth the wait hopefully! I spent most of the day riding, so we'll start with my riding outfit. Unfortunately, I totally forgot to snap photos, so you get a flat Stacie today.

'Merica outfit! Today's a little weak on brands too as neither top I wore yesterday had a brand tag in in...

Helmet: One K

I thought about wearing my sparkly navy Charles Owen helmet, but it was super hot and the One K is a lot cooler. So I went that route instead.

I bought these awhile back, thinking they were more of a berry color, but they are in fact BRIGHT RED. Which isn't really my color. But they're totally useful for Fourth of July!

Recycled photo, but I wore these boots. Also perfect for Fourth of July. So that's what I wore yesterday to ride, but I also have a very casual non riding outfit to share.

I spent the evening with my family at my dad's house enjoying some yummy food and watching fireworks. Super casual evening.

Top: I don't know who made this either...

It's a little tough to find a shirt that matches these pants... But I did the best I could. Just a comfy tee with some crochet type design at the top.

Belt: Mane Jane

I just went with black on black since you couldn't see it anyway.

Pants: Hudson

Fireworks Pants!!! There's never a better day to wear these then Fourth of July.

Shoes: Reefs

Flip flop season is here my friends. Reefs are my favorite. The ones with the wide straps like these.

Thursday's Threads

Outfit day! And I actually DID get to ride last night (stepmom ran out of time, yippee for me!) so I have a riding outfit to share. We can start there!

I should have grabbed a photo, but I got a new half pad to try for Eros, and it matched these breeches exactly. It's this one, in the peacock, in case you're curious. I was going to get black, but I figured since I'm not sure whether or not I'll like it, I should try the cheapest option first. Jury is out. He was kind of sassy last night, and I don't know if I can blame the pad or just a mood? Will have to use it a bit more and see. Anyway... back to outfits!

Helmet: One K Defender snakeskin black

Top: Beval

Awhile back Beval had these sunshirts on sale really cheap, so I got a few. It's your typical sunshirt. I like that they aren't too tight and clingy.

Belt: Mane Jane

I went with the black belt strap and the gunmetal buckle for this outfit.

Breeches: Horseware

I feel like the fit on Horseware breeches is totally hit or miss. Some fit amazingly well (like this pair and the corduroy ones) and others run really small and awkward in places. This is the former though, and I really like them! Especially the teal color.

Boots: Regal Patent

I tried on like four pair of boots for this outfit before settling on the old standby. The first two I couldn't zip... (Um. My name is Stacie and I'm a snack-a-holic. Please send help.) The next pair was brand new and I couldn't do it. (Before you get too excited, I've had them for a year, I just haven't worn them yet.) And then I was going to do the Celeris again, but my ankles begged me not to yet. (Gotta rest the battle wounds sometimes.) So I settled for the old comfy pair. They actually look pretty good with the outfit though, so probably should have just done that from the start and saved the depression over the tight boots. Oh well, live and learn.

So that's what I rode in last night! Now on to my work outfit today, where the theme is powder pink. Alternate title, sometimes I dress like a six year old.

It's cold and dreary today. Like high is maybe 50 and rain on and off for the rest of my life for the next several days. So I needed something warm, but I couldn't bear to return to winter wear.

Sweater: Vince Camuto

Nordstrom Rack had a big clearance sale a few weeks ago, and let's just say my closet did well but my wallet not so much... I loved this pale pink sweater though, and the super cheap price tag was of no help in the not shopping department. It's ridiculously soft and cozy. Perfect for a day like today.

Belt: Mane Jane

I'm so glad I finally got this pale pink belt strap. I've already worn it a ton. And the gunmetal buckle has been getting a lot of use too. It's perfect with the sweater. Pretty much matches the stripes exactly.

Jeans: True Religion

It's tough to photograph, but these jeans have a pink wash over them. You can probably see it best in the full outfit photo above. I think they're super fun. I was worried it might be TOO MUCH pink, but it's pretty subtle in the pants, so it's working.

Shoes: Diba True

I discovered this shoe brand on Zulily a few years ago, and I really love a lot of their stuff. I'm not sure if they're expensive out in the real world, but on Zulily the prices are great, and the shoes are real leather. Thus high quality, low price tag. My favorite combo! I LOVE these slip ons, they are white underneath with a light coating of metallic rose gold. Super fun!

Arm Party!
Lefty:

Lefty is donning this cute leather bangle from Rustic Cuff along with a dainty rose gold flower bracelet from Pura Vida. Along with my trust watch of course.

Righty:

I've really jumped hard on the rose gold bandwagon lately... Whatever, it's pink and metallic and those are a few of my favorite things! The first one I put together myself. I love those little rearing ponies! The next one is housing my Fitbit. And the last one is a strap I cut to fit that rose gold clasp from Hermes.
