What's Up Wednesday

So when we last left off, Shiny was refusing to canter and Eros was still noticeably off. Pammon at least was plugging away! This week seems to be turning a corner for everyone. Of course, in true New England winter fashion, it's probably going to be too cold to ride Friday and possibly Saturday... Sheesh. (I won't ride if it's colder than 20. Just seems pointless and hard on the lungs. Maybe just tack walks or hand walks.)

The princess has decided she will canter this week... but I really have to beg for it. And not currently with contact. Whatever, I'll take what I can get right now.  She's for sure less angsty then she was before getting vet work, so I do think she's feeling better. We certainly have a ways to go before she's back to "normal" though. Baby steps!

Eros has been spending 20 minutes trotting twice a week in the rig to see if he'll engage his hind end better without me to pull on. It seems to be helping, and he's feeling sounder this week. So still kind of wait and see, but hopefully we're on the right track.

Pammon was surprised by the snow outside.
He has a window in his stall, but I'm not sure he realizes it's the same view from the indoor.

Pammon was FABULOUS in our flat lesson last night. He was completely relaxed and also dialed in to me, which is rare. He's usually VERY interested in everything but me. So that was a nice change. We did some canter poles, alternating between 5 and 6 strides in between them. Last week he was not interested in shortening for the add, but this week he was soft and willing to do whatever. Makes me hopeful for our future!

Not much else really happening. I took the weekend off from house projects other than laundry (finally caught up!). Though the blanket project took up a few hours on Saturday. Especially trying to access the trailer ones, they were all the way in the back of the peak.
not those black tubs. No. BEHIND them.

And then Sunday I made some cupcakes. But from a box, I wasn't THAT motivated.
Full disclosure, I did them in the toaster oven and the reason they look different is that I have only one muffin pan that fits in the toaster. So I used the individual brownie pan too. Those are square and a little smaller. Still taste the same though! Problem with making cupcakes during a pandemic when you live alone? I now have to eat 18 cupcakes. Challenge accepted!

That's about it from here really. Winter isn't that exciting. How was your week? Horses good?

Truthful Tuesday

I have a few confessions today. Let's start with the most embarrassing, shall we? Sunday I spent the majority of my late afternoon/evening catching up on laundry and housework. (Adulting is so annoying.) I have been super negligent about putting away the laundry once it's done and folded, so I had some pretty large stacks of clothes on top of the dryer. Said stacks were obstructing my view of the knob (my dryer is about 35 years old no joke, so no fancy knobs on the front). I had a brilliant plan to sit up on the washer and look behind the clothes at the knob. Here's where things went bad.
I jumped up to sit on the washer, not taking into account the cabinet over top of the machines. I jumped up hard... BAM! Cracking my head on the f-ing cabinet. Left a good size lump in its wake. Who knew laundry could be so dangerous? This is why I need a nanny.

Next up: Rodent racism.
I spent quite a lot of time alone with my horses this weekend. That can only lead to weird places... While out with Rio and the wild bunnies, I got to thinking about rodents. I really hate them. Except for bunnies. And chipmunks. And that's when I realized, I am a rodent racist.
Rio and I both love bunnies
Which leads to my last confession: I am a sadistic mosquito murderer.
Last night when I got to my last horse, it was REALLY BUGGY. But not just regular annoying flying bugs, but the worst of them all: MOSQUITOES. (Ok, ticks are worse, true, but I don't think they fly and either way mosquitoes aren't far behind.) So before taking Romes out for grass, I obviously sprayed us both down with bug spray. But here's where it got weird. I started spraying the ones flying around us and really took a sick pleasure in watching them drop right out of the air. They got their revenge though. Whilst out grazing, I was bit no less than eleventeen times.

So those are my confessions today. I'm a mosquito murdering, rodent racist with a pretty good lump on my noggin.
Anything you need to confess today? Let's chat in the comments!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit DAY!!!! A little late, but hey, I'm still wearing it... Yesterday was a balmy 50 degrees, but today temps have dropped down to the 30's. Which apparently is seasonal, but I can still hate it, right? I dressed the part today. I call this look 80's ski bunny.
Totally has an 80's skier vibe, no? I think it's the neon that does it. Anyway, let's look closer!

Sweater: Ralph Lauren
Sorry about the sun spot there, I didn't notice it until it was too late. Before my trip, I stopped at the Ralph Lauren outlet near home to exchange a sweater I was gifted that was too small. While I was there for that, I went hunting for this sweater to see if it was on sale yet. It was! So obviously, it came home withe me. It has everything I need. A nice boxy fit to hide my rapidly expanding spare tire, NEON!, and warmth. Total win for me here.

Jeans: Rue 21
I've had these a long while. Truth is, they don't really fit. But I was running late, so I stuffed myself inside. I'm fairly confident my spare tire is relocating around my rib cage as we speak. Ugh.

Belt: C4
Remember I said I had avoided the whole C4 craze until it turned out that I didn't? Yeah. Case in point. Exhibit C I think we're up to. Whatever, I now love them and don't have any idea why I resisted. My bad.

Socks: ?
I don't usually show you my socks, but these are so cute, I had to share. I won them in the benefit auction for the New England Pug rescue. They go pretty well with today's outfit!

Shoes: Laundry
These are loafer type shoes. They're super comfy, and I love the little bit of neon on the rim. I think that keeps them fairly tame.

Arm Party!
Lefty:
I wore these little coil bracelets I got awhile back to go with today's sweater. They pick up the bright colors perfectly!

Righty:
Righty is donning these hilarious friendship type bracelets from Forever21. The neon caught my eye in the store, and then when I read them, I knew they had to come home. Here's what they say:
Tacos
Burritos
Forever Hangry
These bracelets really get me.

And that's what I'm wearing today. I don't have a riding outfit because despite the warm weather yesterday, the footing was not conducive to riding. I think those days are over until Spring here in the great north. Maybe if we get a nice weekend day I'll hop on the Jamposaur. We'll have to wait and see.
What are you wearing today? How's the weather? Any favorites from today's outfit?
