Thursday's Threads

Outfit day! I brought out some of the blue stuff this week because maybe I'm a little behind laundry. But my quarter sheets are still green so I had to make it a blue AND green outfit. Which worked out nicely since it's still arctic here and definitely full chap weather. Which are also in the green/tan family. I really should stick to what I'm good at. Anyway... Let's see what Al and I wore today. But individually because I forgot to snap a mirror selfie. (I really am the worst in the winter.)

Here's what Al wore today:

This was post lunge because he was a nutball today. But he was honest about it and told me he needed a lunge. So still on the good boy list! Anyway, I point that out because it appears the quarter sheet has tilted a bit to the far side.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
His ear fuzz is so much lighter than the rest of him, and I think that's adorable. Also, I think he looks better with a wide noseband.

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Ippico
Baby Pad: Ogilvy
Quarter Sheet: Equine Wears
I'm not sure we're really pulling off the light blue pad with green quarter sheet... But you know what? Sometimes it's okay to not match. Like when it's stupid cold out. (Have I mentioned how cold it's been?) But also, my sweater does actually pull it all together. You'll see below!

Boots: Premier Equine
I was going to pull out the Eskadron boots like the ones I used last week but in navy, but these more accessible so they won out.

That's what Al wore today, and here's what I had on:
It is possible that I wore this sweater fairly recently for Thursday's Threads. And if that's the case, my apologies. But it was calling to me today so here it is again!

Helmet: One K Avance CCS with MIPS
Yeah that's a repeat photo. I keep meaning to bring my Samshield with the winter liner to the barn, but I also keep not remembering to do that. Maybe for next week when the highs are going to be in the teens. Before the wind chill. But also, I won't ride those days. Winter is so stupid.

Sweater: Vineyard Vines
I found this sweater at either Marshall's or TJ Maxx many years ago. It's a cashmere blend, so pretty warm! And I love that it made that light blue pad, navy boots, and green quarter sheet all come together. I need to have my mom re-block this sweater though. I hung it to dry at some point on the wrong hanger and now it sits up weird on my shoulders.

Belt: Rebecca Ray
Another oldie! I love the Rebecca Ray belts. Actually I love all her stuff. And it's all hand made which here in the US so that's nice too!

Breeches: Dover Wellesley
I'm gonna be honest. My legs were cold today. Even with the chaps over these. I think I'm getting soft.

Chaps: Journeyman
Boots: Celeris UK
Yes, that's last week's photo. But it's the same set up. Best thing I've done in a long time is resurrect these chaps. I think full chaps are really making a comeback. Definitely recommend if you're in a cold climate.

That's it for today! Any favorites? How's the weather by you? Seems it's been chilly pretty much everywhere lately.

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! But I was a big dumb today and forgot to get individual photos of Shiny's outfit. So we'll do this all from our mirror selfie. I'm nothing if not resourceful! So here's what we wore today in the frigid tundra. (Real feel today never got above 8... thankfully indoors it was a bit better.)

She's just the cutest. Today Shiny wore her Pinnacle bridle with the Boy O'Boy brow band. Her saddle pad was the Eskadron one with the faux sheepskin built in underneath. Her boots were the matching Eskadron faux fleece lined ones in Pine Green. (Same color as the pad.) And her quarter sheet is the one I just received before my trip. It's from Equine Wears who is on Etsy. So far her quarter sheet is holding up well, but unfortunately, the boy's sheet is having some issues. It seems the trim wasn't sewn on well, and it's detaching in several places. I've reached out to the maker, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm hoping she'll come up with a solution for me, because these weren't inexpensive and I've only used it for the past week.

Since most of my outfit is hidden in the mirror selfie above, I will share my own:

I have on two sweaters, the underneath one is from Asmar Equestrian and is a wool blend. The outer sweater is by Only Mine and is cashmere. Found it in a drawer with the tag still on... Oops. Getting some use now! My breeches are the same ones I wore last week, but I promise I did laundry and they were clean this morning! They're the Dover Wellesley. My socks are merino wool from Horze. (Almost forgot I had these, ten out of ten, highly recommend in the cold!)
My helmet is the One K Avance with Mips that I've been wearing the last few weeks. My jacket and vest are Old Navy, and I wore the full chaps which are by Journeyman with the petrol paddock boots from Celeris.

And that's the abbreviated version of Thursday's Threads this week! So sorry for the lack of individual photos. I'm blaming the cold. I think my five brain cells have all frozen into a useless clump this week. Perhaps we'll do better next week!

Thursday's Threads

Outfit Day! We had some fun last week so this week is a little more standard. Eros said it was his turn to model, so let's see what we had on:

I'm taking full advantage of mirror selfies.

Here's E without me:
I dunno guys, I think the dad bod is improving a little! He doesn't look quite as fat as he did this summer.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow Band: Dark Jewel Designs
He looks so cute with his D ring. I think I like him better in the wider noseband though.

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Wilkers
Half Pad: Mattes
When Ogilvy discontinued their brown option for pads, I decided to try these Wilkers pads. They're half weight, so thinner than a regular pad, but still a little more substantial than the Ogilvy baby pads. They have the same spine shape though which is what keeps them nicely in place. Eros is notorious for getting his pads to shift and bunch, but that doesn't happen with these nor with the Ogilvy ones.

Polos: Eskadron
You've seen these plenty. I do have lots of polo options, but I prefer these with the climatex over traditional style wraps. So we mostly use the same few. Not that exciting, but not everything in life can be exciting.

So that's what Eros wore, and here's what I had on:
Bottom layers

Actual outfit
It's that time of year where what you're wearing is rarely visible due to all the layers. So I took two photos. Also, I just really appreciate the mirrors! (Not just for selfies, they're so helpful with noticing things about how the horses are going too. And... well. I've noticed how incredibly uneven my stirrups are.)

Helmet: One K Avance CCS MIPS

I have the green top and sand front/rails in for now. It matches nicely with my chaps!

Sweater: TK EQ
Vest (pictured above): Kohls
Also I really need to double check my photos because this is entirely out of focus. My apologies. Anyway, this is a wool blend sweater that TK EQ had on closeout a few years back. Once the temps drop below 40, I will have nothing but wool or wool blend on my upper body.

Belt: Zazzle
I love these belts from Zazzle, but sadly they are currently out of stock. I wanted to make some for holiday gifts but alas... Maybe next year.

Breeches: RJ Classics

I wear these all the time. They're a little greener than they're showing up here, but you know that because I've shared them so many times!

Chaps: Journeyman
Paddock Boots: Sheepskin lined from Celeris UK
These have been a game changer since I brought them back out from the depths of my mom's garage. Some days I think I'd like a new pair, but honestly, these are perfectly perfect in every way. I hope I can keep them functional for awhile still. They're SO warm, I can't figure out why I stopped wearing them for winter all those years ago. Probably vanity. That's what's nice about being old. I don't care so much about that stuff any more.

And that's it for this week! Any favorite items? Thoughts on full chaps? Do you have a pair?

Thursday's Threads

Oh man guys. I am the WORST blogger. I remembered outfit day this morning before I left the house... But I did not remember by the time I got to the barn. So I have several recycled photos. They are accurate representations of today's outfit though at least. So there's that. And my excuse is that I had an old friend come and visit me at the new barn and she rode Eros while I rode Al. We had so much fun, and thus I was not thinking about outfit photos. Life happens! Also, can I just talk about how nice it is that my friends can come and ride with me at the new barn? It's so nice. SO NICE!

Today's model was Eros, and here are his recycled photos of today's outfit.

Bridle: Pinnacle
Brow Band: Boy O'Boy Bridleworks

He just looks so handsome in this bridle. Supermodel status!

Saddle: Butet
Half Pad: Mattes
Baby Pad: Ogilvy

I've been riding E in Al's saddle the last couple of months because I haven't gotten his fixed yet, but he did in fact use this one (his own) today with my friend because we couldn't share a saddle and ride at the same time. I really need to send this one off though! I reached out today to follow up on that. Hopefully that will be happening soon.

Wraps: Eskadron
I'm really liking the climatex polos for Eros. He seems comfortable in them too.

So that's what Eros had on and here's what I was wearing today:
There's a lot happening this photo. First, wonder when the last time I dusted this mirror was? Seems like a long, LONG time ago. Secondly, what is happening with the shoe pile back there? Honestly. I need a parent to come scold me for my messy/dirty room.

Helmet: One K Avance MIPS
Yes, still using this photo. I did dust the helmet off though, so might be time for a new stock photo... Lol.

Sweater: J Crew
I snagged this wool blend sweater at J Crew last year after the holidays for like $15. Such a great deal! If they had more colors I'd have stocked up! Also, it's winter here now so this sweater was layered with a puffy vest to ride and a coat on top of all of it when I wasn't riding. Brrr.

Belt: Ponylocks
I chose Jampy's belt for today's outfit. It's so pretty. I just love what they do over there at Ponylocks.

Breeches: Tailored Sportsman
I've been wearing these smaller sized breeches a bit more often lately and I think they actually fit pretty well. I just wish the waist part was like a half inch bigger.

Socks: Dreamers And Schemers
My logo socks are still my favorites.

Boots: Celeris
Chaps: Journeyman
And one last reused photo! This one was from last winter. Yep, it's been chilly so I've been riding in the full chaps again! I love them. I don't really know why we all stopped wearing them. They're SO warm! And so grippy. I hope these things survive another 28 years! (Yes, they are really that old, but they took a long sabbatical.)

And that's it for today! Any favorites? Any requests for upcoming Thursday's Threads?

Thursday's Threads: Throwing it back a little further...

I know what you're thinking... Stacie, what could you possibly still be riding in that's older than your chaps? But guys, I'm OLD. So I have lots of old stuff! And you know, in the old days, when you bought quality things, they LASTED. Today's vintage item is Al's saddle pad. Which admittedly you've seen before. But this time I paired it with my full chaps which is a whole different, ULTRA VINTAGE experience. Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone around to snap a pic of everything together from afar. So you'll have to use your imagination a little. All that said. We'll start with Al's outfit so as not to leave you hanging too long.

Bridle: Joseph Sterling
Brow band: Dark Jewel Designs

See that stretched out nose? It was on its way over to accost me. He loves me like that.

Saddle: Butet
Saddle Pad: Personalized Products
Half Pad: Mattes
There it is! Isn't it beautiful? I love these pads. I have two, this one and one that's a few years newer that says Moo-moo. The underside is similar to the white pads we show hunters in, but is a natural color like sheepskin. This pad here I got at Harrisburg when I was showing Bud in the juniors. I'm not 100% sure which year, but I think it was probably '95. Which would make this pad 29 years old. You can see a little wear on the piping at the back, but like, that's pretty good for its age. I actually want to reach out to Personalized Products and see about getting a few of these made in solid colors. You know... bring them into this century. Ha!

Boots: Eskadron
Yeah, we're still using these. They match our outfit!

That's what Al wore this week, and here's what I had on:

The inner layers:
And the outer layers:
Winter, am I right? When you can wear an outfit that no one even sees. Also though, these breeches were a poor choice to wear with chaps... It kinda looks like I have no pants on. Not my best choice.

Helmet: Samshield
This is a very unflattering selfie I took whilst on Al. Like why is my helmet so high?

Sweater: Old Navy
I picked this sweater up in this color and a camel color because they were crazy cheap and washable. I like them, they're warm, and super soft. I'm not sure they'll have a long life though. The quality is about what you expect for the price point.

Belt: Noble Outfitters
This belt was pretty much an exact match to green of the sweater AND the shade of tan to the breeches. You almost can't see the piping it's so close. Which is impressive because these breeches are kind of a weird shade. Weird in a good way. But still weird.

Breeches: Romfh
The camera really wants to wash the color out on these. The actual color is most similar to the photo of the belt. I'd call it a cognac color. Whatever the shade, I like the pants a lot. They're really comfortable and the length is just right.

Chaps: Journeyman
Paddock Boots: Celeris UK
Yes, same as last week. I've been living in my chaps lately. I'm SO happy I resurrected them. They're really starting to soften back up to their former glory and are also smelling better. They were pretty musty when I first rescued them from my mom's garage.

Here are the chaps and pad together. Can you believe I've stuck with the same barn colors for all of these years?! Also, how vintage and amazing are they together?
