Truthful Tuesday

Soooo.... I was thinking today about how I need to clean tack. And I realized that I cannot remember the last time I performed said task. Like for real, I cannot recall when I did that last. I have planned to use a rainy day for this, but it doesn't rain here anymore. Like ever. We got a teeny bit about a week and a half ago, but it happened when I was done riding for the day. Which is good timing of course, but not when you're waiting for a rain day to clean tack. Also though, I don't really see the point in cleaning my tack when it's just going to get a fresh dust coating every single time I ride right now. Or at least, that's what I tell myself as an excuse to still not clean the tack.

So that's today's confession. My tack is dirty and needs conditioning. And there's dust everywhere.

  1. Lol, I agree with Teresa, very relatable. I've taken to keeping a stash of clean microfibers (that I stole from my husband's garage stash) in my tack trunk and at least wiping the dust off my saddle before throwing the cover back on, wiping gunkies off the bit, and making sure there's no hair stuck to the girth that might irritate skin during the next ride. It's a lot simpler for me than getting out the saddle soap/conditioner.

    1. Totally counts! I do clean the bits after every ride since two of the three use leather. And Al's rollers will become immobile if you don't keep them clean.

  2. I clean my tack in a panic with wet wipes at competitions lol

  3. We had the opposite problem this summer with rain, everything was getting super moldy constantly so my stuff is cleaner now than it’s ever been LOL

    1. Ohhhh yes, that's a whole other problem! Funny how you're not really that far from me, and yet our weather has been so different!
